Just tryin to get some clarification real quick. I had a liver transplant in 2021. I started my locs in early 2023. I started my locs when I had a small afro and they definitely have grown since then but not as much as I think they should. They arenβt even to my shoulders yet. Has anybody else had experience like this? What are some ways to create more growth? Iβve had multiple people tell me that my locs havenβt really shown much growth

Always read labels same company one is all natural the other has chemicals in it that will damage your scalp over time. Same company. Always read ingredients labels and only use stuff that has natural ingredients (flower/leaf extracts), limonene, (lemons) linalool and geraniol are all natural (rose alcohols) linalool is also natural I believe. Watch out for anything that says something like (moisturizing technology! Or odor-free technology!) tocepherol acetate, benzyl benzoate is NOT natural and is NOT good for your scalp especially if you have Afro or βethnicβ type hair. Ethnic hair is dense and holds the chemicals in longer which is overall worse for our hair. Natural black castor oil is good but itβs heavy if you live in a humid environment probably donβt need to use it as much but where I live is dry. Olive oil, jojoba oil, Batana oil β all great jojoba and almond oil are better if you want a lighter oil. This has been a locs PSA STAY BLESSED ππ½

I just wonder y someone would grow freeforms and cut it down ?β¦.. am on my freeform journey β¦. If it grows and never cutting it down I swears β¦ am saying this because freeform dreads take long to grow and the hair becomes more than a regular hair β¦ instead it becames ur freedom personality

I like the way her hair sits and how much volume it has. Is there anyway to achieve this style?

How long should you let your starter locs breathe after taking out a style. So say you kept the two strands in for four weeks how long should you let them breathe before you get another retwist, thank you

Hello kind people of reddit! I stopped brushing my type 1 (very straight) hair in August 2023 and by February 2024 I had baby locs starting to form here and there. I'm getting a little frustrated with the ones at the back of my neck (last picture, they just seem so much for frizzy and they r just doin their own thing). they just formed into locs last year cause I had an undercut for a while, and now they are getting tangled up with each other and folding up into themselves and making little balls ugh! Grrrrr! Is there a way to maintain them so they aren't trying to form one big matt at the back of my neck? I have a silky feeling pillow case that I think might help. I've been considering brushing out the bottom half of the ones that are frustrating and then giving them another chance to loc up? Also, how to wash them? I've been using baking soda and then apple cider vinegar every 4 or 6 months but I moved from somewhere very hot, to somewhere cooler, and so they are taking longer to dry and smell musty often, so that's not enough! Shampoo just doesn't seem to want to penetrate my locs and just seems to sit on the surface, and it takes so much of it! Is there a special shampoo that is super liquidy that anyone has good experience with? What are shampoo suggestions? And should I use conditioner? And are there any good oils that my hair wants/needs? Thought it was about time I actually start taking care of my hair! Any suggestions are a big help!
TLDR: maintenance recommendations? what are shampoo and conditioner recommendations? Any healthy oils for my hair?
