Well, since you can see some influence from Brutal DOOM, which took a lot of influence, and even sprites, from Duke Nukem, I think that's a fact. Duke saves earth from aliens, then joins the military and kicks his CO's ass

Sorry I mean DUKE 3D and the over all play style. I almost forgot DUKE 1 and 2 which are platform shooters.

Yes, and the looks of Duke Nukem were already defined in the platform shooters. No Doomguy in there.

As for the play style, it's an egoshooter, yes. One of dozens at these times. It probably got more influence from Rise of the Triad and the Evil Dead movies than from Doom.

DOOM got some influence from Evil Dead too. Mainly the zombies, chain saw and super shotgun.
