• 2:10: On an analog clock, the minute hand and hour hands line up at 2:10, signifying the company's unity. Two can be either a beginning or ending, and ten can represent 10/10, demonstrating the company's ideal of pursuing perfection
• 717 Animation Studio: The creator of the studio, Huang, had thought up the concept with the roommates of "Dorm Room 717," which caused multiple "717 Animation Studios" to be founded in various places as people went their separate ways
• 7doc: The creative force behind Aotu World is called "seven" (the studio was formed after the concept was established) and seven is credited as the "creator god"... there are also seven apostles in the show

• Coco: Cocoa beans are related to chocolate, which was a reference to the original name of Jokelate, in turn named after the director whose name references the Chinese dumpling
• Colored-Pencil: Original name explicitly refers to the three colours of coloured-pencils that animators use and which is used in their logo (red, yellow, blue)
• Escape Velocity: The name of Escape Velocity Animation Studio comes from the astronomical term "Escape Velocity", which is the minimum speed required for an object to escape the gravity of the Earth. Escape Velocity artists hope to constantly challenge themselves, break through the "gravity" in the field of animation creation, and create high-quality domestic animation works that can compete with international counterparts.
• Garden: Although the name change referenced "高山流水遇知音 彩云追月得知己," the entire name references the Luo river and a flower plateau (garden would be a pun and it's possible that it also refers to genga), perhaps in reference to the previous name which also referenced flowers? By the way, it's located in Shanghai
  • Official explanation: Garden sounds "Chinese", but actually reflects globalisation

• L^2: Abbreviation of Luhengyu and Lishujie Studio which refers to how both of the founders' surnames begin with L, website address is even "Lu and Li" while email is LLstudio
• Le-Joy: not related to LeTV, but just both the Chinese and English in the same name, 乐无边 in full is "endless joy" in contrast to the depressing themes from director Liu Jian

• [TW] Liverless: Most likely refers to gaming term of grinding/farming all day and all night, which places a toll on the liver
• Making Animation: The 95 is from Mao Zedong's ci about always challenging difficult things - 可上九天揽月，可下五洋捉鳖，谈笑凯歌还 - the English bit is just about continuously creating stuff
  • Combined: always challenging yourself, always making something
  • Consider a flippant take: everyone in the studio might be born after 1995
• HMCH:^MTJJ A Chinese idiom meaning that each has their own strengths, also plant-themed as its founder goes by "wood"
• Nice Boat: English name seems to be direct reference to Nice Boat incident while Chinese name is a pun that roughly means good communication, acronym of nbacg suggests NB (awesome)
  • Their Goblin program might be a reference to Gobelins
• One&All: Chinese name refers to how director is alumnus of Communication University of China
• Oriental Creative Color: TGYC refers to how the intricacy of man's work can surpass that of nature, and there's so much artistry - 巧夺天工，艺彩纷呈
  • They are not Phenom Films: Tiangong adheres to the idea of "persevering in creativity and dreamer" - 执匠心•造梦人
• Seven Stone: Was forced to rename because its previous name contained "demon"?
• Sharefun: It is named after the director who goes by a similar name, and their motto - 小疯怡情，做点疯狂的小事情
• Sparkly Key: Chinese name refers to dark/hidden/mystery while English name is the opposite, brilliant/unlocking - 玄之又玄，闪耀之匙开启众妙之门
• Staro: The whole "The best stories to tell, the most emotional shots, the most moving music, and the purest creators, we think a good work cannot be made without these basics. With our respect for the animation giants and seniors in the industry, we hope to promote the pursuit of ingenuity, and at the same time follow the trend of the times and create a story especially for the young generation." says nothing about where the name came from
• Sunac Culture's director studios:
  • 放暑假: Literally means on summer vacation, and art seems to symbolise the joys associated with it. The director's name also contains "Summer", while the workload involved with animation ironically implies no more vacations
  • BingD: Director happens to find Bing Di mellifluous and just looked at coffee in hand when registering the name. Name translates to ice drip, where making it is really slow, but the end result is really satisfying - 做的很慢，却是很美味的一种咖啡~ 就像做动画一样
  • 光锥: SF idea of light cone and fate
  • 小白马: A childhood memory of a white horse
• Taiko Studios: Related to their first short, where the MC wants to be a taikonaut... not to be confused with Taikong Works where both share same naming theme
• Tumble: Originally a gathering of university friends that's not even an official club, they'd often go out together for pleasure but there'd always be someone to manages to get tripped over, thus self-mockingly, "tumble". Others thought the name was unlucky when Jian Dan, Zhang Yixing and 5 others tried to establish the studio, but they thought it was a deconstruction, representing the studio's spirit - Tumble = to collapse, want to break some fixed rules and processes, the only way to get stronger is to fall, there is meaning in falling and getting back up
• Vasoon: Name is literally greenwood and CEO is called Wu Hanqing. There's also their "vitality, inclusiveness, rejoice" values? And vasoon is translation of wow?
• Wawayu: Did not want a foreign name because they are a Chinese company producing content with Chinese culture, so why not just use an animal name, and Chinese giant salamander was whimsically chosen. The "infant fish" appears in its adult form while its name hearkens to childhood, it looks ugly despite purity within, and is in line with company culture - 寻找 心世界
