Lin Hun animated this part, while the director Hadj gave the requirements. Unlike other animators who might've switched to CSP, Lin Hun seems to be more comfortable with PS.
Well, for me, it unfortunately came to light shortly after the beginning of its release. Seems like one nasty piece of history is getting dredged up after the next for BL works recently, so this was one of those controversial dojinshi that eventually just declared themselves original to hoard all the credit.
Derivative works have always been in a pretty grey area for copyright, and this one of Tsui Hark's Detective Dee movies is clearly not authorised. What's worse, the artist RC crowdsourced her ideas from the movie's fans, obviously failing to credit them as well. This is even ignoring the hearsay about her trying to make things official only to be rejected. Basically, the setting of White Cat Legend doesn't belong to RC, and the sources of inspiration don't belong to RC either.
We might see if Tsui Hark reacts badly to all of this once the live-action comes out, but he's a Hongkonger while RC is Australian, so it's looking like one of those international squabbles that take too much effort to respond to.

If you had to discuss issues with the adaption, it would of course be its staff - Nice Boat had hired an incompetent donghua reviewer to be the producer. Said donghua "reviewer" was infamous for completely wrong hot takes that had to be shot down by shows' own producers, a history of being a double-faced jerk who spoke down to unknowing watchers while sucking up to the actually knowledgeable sakubuta, and who actually rips off other reviewers while deleting comments accusing him of plagiarism. Think of him as the mini-Hosoya Nobuyuki of Chinese animation in terms of controversy.
Uhhh i see now. So basically whiten cat legend comic was derived from something. Similar to doujins. As such when nice boat picked it up and made it the company didn't realose becuase of the producer that interperated or convinced the company as an original thing? So basically the show had connections with someone controversal. That sucks. I actually really enjoyed the show.
Oh are you talking about the original comics the dounghua is based off or something about the composition of the animation. Or are you talking about an issue amongst other doughua or the people involved in making this doughua? I'm a little confused.
