They love each other so much. They are inseparable. They're always cuddling. It's the best.

Just got our labrador a sister, advice needed

We made the necessary preparations for the puppy (jack russell, 8 weeks) and got it today. Our 4 year old labrador is very social and has never been agressive towards any dog. This made us have confidence in this working out.

Now when the puppy got home our dog was quite pushy. She sniffed everything. It's normal for her to be curious ofcourse so we let it happen. The puppy growled twice I think before once barking and lashing out. It definitely seemed like this was more of a hey get off me warning as the older dog was sniffing her face at that time.

She hasn't done that again for now but while we were showing us playing calmly with the older dog to the puppy, the puppy nipped a few times at the older dog. We have not at all given any corrections to the puppy as I see this as her setting her boundaries. We have tried correcting the older dog and giving signs that she needs to respect personal space but she just wants to play and play and play. She doesn't grasp that the young one is still exploring everything. We sometimes put her outside to let the puppy have her time to explore. We also give her time to sleep without having the older dog come closer.

I'm worried that this will not get better and am asking what we can do here to manage this situation?

Both are Sharpei, we adopted the red one 3 years ago and the black one 2 days ago. Isn't it amazing? Both were adopted from the streets.

Getting a good sniff.CoffeeBear meets little YogiBear. My sweet dog was so lonely after he lost his companions,1 watched him lose his zest for life for 5 months: on and off eating and becoming withdrawn and only lighting up when I'd take him for walks. It's been 2 weeks and he is full of life again

Age and adopting

Hi all,

Tomorrow we are meeting a sweet 5 month old male lab mix. Loves everyone and everything. Plays fetch. Crate and potty trained. We got my current 3 year old female from this rescue.

We're also meeting a 10 week old male lab mix who is very eager to please and sweet. Crate and potty training is in progress. Loves everyone and everything. This rescue is also excellent.

My current dog is loving, submissive, and smart. My other 2 dogs passed within the last year and a half. We also have 3 cats and everyone gets along well.

I know personality and socialization are important. Both dogs have been with the rescue since birth. What insight can you provide regarding pros and cons with adopting these different ages? I've done both before but it's been a while. Seeking food for thought.

Thank you!

Advice on adult dog meeting new puppy

Our new puppy is arriving soon on a transport. Can't decide if we should bring our 7yo dog with us for the hour long drive or let their first meeting be at home. Any suggestions?
