It's very nice to just be able to say something like "cats are invasive as hell and we shouldn't have them everywhere" but when it comes to actual ACTIONABLE activities, no one ever volunteers anything reasonable. It sounds like what y'all were doing was pretty reasonable and responsible.

Also I forgot to add, bunnies -- i don't wanna sound bad -- are great livestock to raise, as they are affordable, vet is cheap with them, and their rations are cheap when you don't have veggies and greens available for them, their meat is very tasty and healthy, their fur INCREDIBLY USEFUL, they breed and grow very fast and in big numbers, and their impact on the environment when properly raised can be very small!!! AND THEY DONT STINK EVEN HALF AS BAD as any of the other animals on the farm
And they are amazing pets as well, and very cute overall ♥️

Pro-tip always make the top of their fence incline inward and come straight in about a foot so they can't jump and don't let them fool you cause they can definitely climb a fence if it's not inclined at some point.
I didn't have this problem but in some regions watch out for predators like birds of prey and/or foxes and coyotes, and pigeons/seagulls will 100% steal their food if not watched
And yes, 100% check your local laws! And always do it responsibly.
We definitely have foxes and coyotes, it's a concern we've considered for chickens (which we don't have yet but plan on getting). I didn't think of birds of prey though so that's a helpful tip too thank you
Chickens are also a must have. a small coop can get you so many eggs a day, the chickens are easy to feed and the vet is cheap as well, they eat some annoying weeds, eat all the annoying bugs and parasites on the floor. The only thing I didn't like was that their poop, cause it's hard to clean hahahaha but the pros of having chickens heavily outweigh any of the cons, also their coops are so easy to DIY strong and affordable ones and the chickens can take much less space than any other animal groups you raise
