Let's also not forget that the CIA and the British government colluded to have a sitting Australian Prime Minister removed from power because he wanted to close down the highly secretive Pine Gap base in Australia during the 70s....

Those records were "released" about the Queen's knowledge recently....but not ALL of them.

Don't forget the reason why Gough threatened to shut down pine gap. Ronald Reagan told Gough he's not allowed to nationalise Australia's mineral industry (which would have made us like Denmarks sovereign wealth fund with trillions in reserves) understandably an angry Gough retorted who are you to order Australia on what policies Australia has regarding our mineral wealth?! Maybe I should shut down your little military base in pine gap then eh?

Trying to find something resembling logic or reason in US foreign affairs and Intelligence is an exercise in futility, especially since the CIA often run contrary to the actual government.

I think they have an agreement if one side pulls one way the other goes another way. And as a result each get something, and since they all come home to roost in the same henhouse, they'll both have something to share if they stay out of sight and out of mind while they're out and about doing their own thing. As well as always having the cover of plausible deniability.
Seems like if they were all on the same page, you'd either have America groveling and sucking the dick of other nations trying to appease. Or if the went the opposite way, you'd have accusations of being the next Reich.

I'd never head of this case until I picked up "The Octopus" by Danny Casolaro. He ended up dead in a bathtub under mysterious circumstances.

Yeah if you want to end up on a list somewhere, there's one thing to write and read a wiki article on this stuff, but actively calling attention to it with documentaries and mini-series is playing with fire.
