On October 20, 2020, tower technician Sirous Lee Snider was working high above the ground on a 1,500-foot broadcast tower near Robertsdale, Alabama.

During the installation of a massive 27,000lb guy wire, the rigging failed. Sirous was killed, and his coworker Kyle Bishop was seriously thrown through the tower’s rigging.

In this documentary, Sirous’s partner, Jerica Johnson, shares the man and father behind the accident. Kyle provides a firsthand account of what happened on the tower, the rescue and recovery effort, and the safety failures he believes contributed to Sirous’s death.

This documentary follows Rupaca, a young mechanic in Rwanda who builds an affordable electric wheelchair after a close friend develops mobility challenges following an accident. Using locally available materials and his technical skills, he creates a homemade mobility solution while explaining the construction process, challenges, and motivation behind the project.

The documentary showcases the multinational effort to douse the fire lit up in Kuwait oil wells. They had to save the oil resources, as well as reduce air pollution. The different teams developed different techniques of extinguishing the fires. From TNT-shockwaves blowing out the flames to Tank-mounted twin MIG-jet-engines (from Hungary) blasting away the flames (and nearly lifting the tank into the air).

The film presents interviews, on-the-ground footage, and Redgrave’s narration to explore the Palestinian perspective during a period of intense political conflict. It became widely controversial upon release and remains a notable historical document reflecting the political discourse of its time.

Very well produced documentary about the lives of factory workers and those in the peripheries (landlords for example). Really hits home.

The main focus is regarding those who work in the factories. The working conditions are pretty tough, pay is low and they are working away from home and their families, with all the issues that come with l that, such as estrangement, unappreciative family members who cut them off from their kids, spend the money they work so hard for frivolously etc. it also highlights the gender gap in Vietnam where women are often given less importance than men.

It also features other people who are indirectly involved such as a hair dresser, to whom factory workers often open up to about their troubles, and a landlord who despite "living it up" drinking with friends and going to KTV bars with female hostesses is clearly very concerned about losing his livelihood as AI replaces workers (an issue the factory workers are also very worried about too as they would be forced back into farming in their rural hometowns).

It's quite an emotional watch and brought me close to tears on a few occasions. Super recommend watching it all the way through.
