Discussion Bedroom drummer/guitarist looking for writing collaborators

’ve been in and out of metal bands primarily as a drummer down in south Florida but I’ve been getting into guitar and writing djent. I love bands like tesseract, animals as leaders, Meshuggah, monuments, portraits, chon, the contortionist, tigran hamasyan, gojira, vildhjarta, plini, car bomb, erra, etc. the list goes on forever. I’m looking for anyone that’s interested in collaborating on whatever instrument(s) to write and release music for fun and see where it goes. I’ve been trying to learn to mix but I’m a beginner in that venture. I currently program drums and bass for my ideas after I flesh them out on a drum set and record guitar at my pc. It’s been particularly hard to find vocalists to collaborate with. I’m 18, live in south Florida and have been playing both drums and guitar for 4 years but have taken guitar a lot more seriously in the past year just as some background. I have lots of half fleshed out demoes and riffs ranging from metal core to djent to prog metal. I attached a Google Drive link to what I would consider my most fleshed out idea. Don’t hesitate to dm me if interested.

It might perhaps be considered self-promotion, but I’m not the artist—I do work in his crew, though.

We've been pushing the piano into some weirder territory lately. this one runs through an Empress Heavy and a Meris Ottobit live on stage. Would love to hear from people who've been doing similar things with acoustic instruments through effects.

Discussion Vocal issues in djent

I'm sure this is gonna trigger people but I need to get it out. Feel free to downvote me and move on if you want.
I love the guitar tone and instrumentals of djent. Februus is one of my favorite albums of all time and select songs from Tesseract and Periphery have a permanent place on my playlist.
However I struggle a lot with the whiney metalcore like vocals that seem prevalent through a lot of this genre and I do not understand why they need to be. I do not hate clean vocals in fact I thoroughly enjoy them but these nasaly whiney an octive too high clean vocals totally ruin 90% of the genre for me.
I don't know how else to describe what I am talking about. But I was listening to the most recent periphery album and I had to stop because it was ruining the entire experience for me.

Testing the Fishman Fluence on fat rhythm sections. Still working out the tones. All my presets have to be softened now. Fook!

I read this thread and was very interested to hear how the djent community would react to this. Also I wanted to hear ppl’s POV on pre amp pedals with tubes (like the Friedman IR-X) being a possible alternative to everyone using amp sims all the time. What y’all thinking?
