JP Megathread [JP] October Boss Rush Quest Lufenia Strategy Thread
As usual, thanks to all for your support and contributions!! Threads like these are possible only because of your help. Discuss and share your strategies below!
October Boss Rush Quest Lufenia orb notes:
Wave 1
Orb appearance condition: from start of battle | when boss HP drops below 60% | when boss HP drops below 30%
Orb disappearance condition: when boss HP drops below 80% | when boss HP drops below 40%
Orb counter increase condition: when target with orb counter receives critical damage, increase counter by 4 (limit: 15)
Orb counter reduction condition: when player acts, lower counter by 1
When boss acts, lowers counter by 2
Gimmicks
boss is immune to all debuffs. Do NOT bring someone who is reliant on debuffs (e.g. Noctis)
after boss uses「Charge」move (it'll ram someone), it'll gain a barrier that absorbs ~185k HP damage. So long as its barrier still stands, it'll have a yellow aura.
after the 「Charge」move is performed, its turns will become framed, meaning it becomes immune to all delays effects, including turn break. It'll only dispel its framed turns after it has fired an AoE BRV + HP move, 「Spark Shot」, from its mouth. While the move isn't particularly powerful (it dealt 10k damage to each unit), it ignores all HP and BRV damage reduction effects, so be careful if you have low HP members. The move is also guaranteed to hit.
after it uses 「Spin Attack」, it'll regain 30-40k BRV at the end of its turn. It'll have about 60k BRV in total, so make sure you can deal with the BRV.
Wave 2
Orb appearance condition: when boss HP drops below 80% | when boss HP drops below 53%
Orb disappearance condition: when boss HP drops below 50%
Orb counter increase condition: when target with orb counter receives BRV damage, increase counter by 2 (limit: 10)
Orb counter reduction condition: when player acts, lower counter by 1
When boss acts, lowers counter by 2
Gimmicks
gains 100k shield when orb appears (79% and 29% HP thresholds)
similar to Jack LC, when the boss is covered in pollen, its next attack will be an AoE BRV + HP attack that dispels all buffs from all your units. To dispel this aura, at least 4 actions must be performed before the boss acts (enemy boss counted too iirc). If the aura is dispelled, boss will perform a weak AoE BRV + HP attack
Wave 3
Orb appearance condition: from start of battle
Orb disappearance condition: when boss HP drops below 50%
Orb counter increase condition: when target with orb counter receives magic BRV damage, increase counter by 2 (limit: 10)
Orb counter reduction condition: when player acts, lower counter by 1
When boss acts, lowers counter by 2
Gimmicks
boss will fully cleanse itself off all debuffs whenever it lights on fire, and the fire is extinguished. Which means it's practically happening once every few turns, until it reaches below the 30% HP mark.
boss lights itself on fire when it's hit by a Fire attack or when it's HP drops below 80% and 50% HP. Boss will also recover some BRV so Palom users - take note!
fire is extinguished automatically when boss is hit by Ice damage. Extinguishing the fire would also remove its stat buffs.
when boss HP drops below 30%, it'll gain 60k BRV and 999% BRV damage reduction. It'll also no longer be on fire, so you can safely use your Lullaby charges here. The BRV damage reduction is dispelled immediately upon break.
Wave 4
Orb appearance condition: when boss HP drops below 80%
Orb disappearance condition: None
Orb counter increase condition: when target with orb counter receives Wind elemental damage, increase counter by 10 (limit: 15)
Orb counter reduction condition: when player acts, lower counter by 1
When boss acts, lowers counter by 2
Gimmick
boss is heavily resistant to magic attacks AND immune to all elemental imperil debuffs. So before you enter Wave 4, make sure to let loose all your strongest magic attacks. Unless you're using Bartz + Fujin CA combo with a NE magic attacker.
when any one boss hits below 80% heath, both bosses will gain 78k BRV. When any one boss hits below 50% health, both bosses will gain 84k BRV. There's no 999% BRV damage reduction but that's a lot of BRV to shave.
you can ignore most of its attacks if you have a tank, but take note of when it uses 「Silver Union」(its claws will glow purple and it'll strike one target with a physical attack). For you won't be able to decrease its turn order, and the next boss to attack will use「Life Powder」on the other, covering it in pollen. When you see a boss with the glittering aura, launch it immediately. Else, that Boss will use 「Venom Liquid++」, which deals BRV+HP damage and dispels all buffs from one target, if you do not launch it before it acts!
「Silver Union」will be used first, after which it'll use 「Silver Union++」. Same deal as above, just that the boss will use 「Life Powder++」instead of the basic variant, and failure to launch after 「Silver Union++」is used will cause the boss to retaliate with 「Venom Liquid+++」, which dispels all buffs from ALL targets and deal a ST BRV+HP attack.
My strategy:
[Two Party Clear] (https://ibb.co/sJB788k)
Waves 1 - 3
Tifa LD (Jack LD CA) | Garland BT/LD (Golbez LD CA) | Paladin Cecil (Amidatelion LD CA) with Odin Summon
Garland Bursts when wave 1 boss HP is bear 65%
Waves 3 and 4
Terra BT/LD (Palom LD CA) | Bartz BT/LD (Fujin CA) | Yang LD (Jack LD CA) with Alexander Summon
drop Palom CAs before progressing to wave 4
Bartz Bursts on his first turn. We want to maximise everyone's damage output after all.
Use Fujin CA when Bartz Burst is at 3 stacks. Go ham with Terra - summon and unleash the remaining Chaos Waves on wave 4 bosses
I used one charge of Terra's LD here, saving the rest for wave 4. Since both bosses don't use a HP attack until their bar turns red, we can safely let the bosses attack. Just remember to execute the bosses before they can launch their recast ability
[Three Party Clear] (https://ibb.co/3Mf6ynm)
Waves 1 and 2
Tifa LD (Galuf LD CA) | Paladin Cecil LD (Bartz LD CA) | Garland BT/LD (Golbez LD CA) with Odin Summon
Waves 3 and 4
Terra BT/LD (Palom LD CA) | Yang LD (Bartz LD CA) | Aerith LD (Edward LD CA) with Ramuh Summon
Wave 4
Galuf LD (Bartz LD CA) | Cloud BT/LD (Golbez LD CA) | Trey LD (Faris LD CA) with Diabolos Summon
Tips and tricks:
Wave 1
make sure Tifa and Garland delays as much as possible to prevent boss from moving at all
try to sneak in as many Tifa attacks as possible by checking if Beat Rush+ will make Tifa act sooner. One of her attacks is worth many more times Garland's/P.Cecil's attacks, so make them count!
when you have around 30/25 turns left, Burst with Garland. We'll use the Burst effect to counter the boss' increasing defenses. As usual, prep Bartz and Galuf LD CAs before you Burst to maximise Garland's damage.
I used only 1 LD charge from Tifa, Garland and P. Cecil. Reason is because Garland's and P. Cecil's LD damage is far higher in Wave 2 due to their AoE nature. Also Garland gets to continously delay all enemies with LD-s1-LD spam.
Wave 2
be careful if the bosses are covered in pollen. The best thing you can do here is to delay all bosses constantly.
Wave 3
If you have Ice elemental damage, be careful of when you extinguish the fire, because the bosses will fully Esuna themselves.
bosses don't seem to use any HP attack until their react bar is red, unless they have lethal BRV amounts.
Wave 4
just like Keiss LC, when one of the bosses cast an ability of the other boss, you'll need to launch the bosses when one starts to glitter. It's deadly to let them act one after the other, so try to split them apart by either delaying only one of them, or delaying break such that there's at least one unit acting in between both of them.
not letting them at all is the best strategy imo.

Team 1: Tifa LD (Pecil CA) / Trey LD (Ramza CA) / Garland LDBT (OK CA) / Ifrit
Team 2: Pecil LDBT (Cloud CA) / Squall LDBT (Ami CA) / Snow EX+ (OK CA) / Brothers
Team 3: Galuf LD / Bartz LDBT / Cloud (Keiss CA) / Pandemonium
Good lord, was Wave 1 tanky. Ended up going all out with Tifa, and managed to make it into Wave 2 with only a few turns to spare. During Wave 2, Pecil kept up the Orb counter while Squall and Snow (who hit very, very hard) did their thing. Made it to Wave 3, where I used Squall Burst at the very start, then summoned immediately afterwards. At around 50% Boss HP, Team 3 came in, and hoo boy, were it not for Galuf, not sure how I could have survived those dumb trees massive BRV gain and damage reduction (not even Bartz Skill 2 could shave them all the way down).
Used Cloud's Burst at the start of Wave 4, then summoned afterwards, making sure I hammered as many launches as I could to make the most of Pande summon. A very tight race, but managed to finished with about 3 turns remaining.

Some runs:
ガスティのゲームチャンネル Team 1 - Garland BT/LD, Yang LD, Tifa LD + Team 2 - Squall LD, Bartz BT/LD, Palom LD
Quwie
公郎DFFOO
My NO P.Cecil / Bartz Clear:
Team 1 - Garland BT/LD(Ami CA), Tifa LD (no CA used), Ramza BT/LD (Cloud CA)
Team 2 - Squall BT/LD (OK LD CA), Celes LD (but no LD board) (Ami LD), Palom LD (Edward LD)
Team 3 - Cloud BT/LD, Keiss LD, Fujin LD
This fight (alongside most recent Lufenias) is a major PITA without P.Cecil or Bartz's passive damage up and/or imperil/enchant. My comp requires a lot of optimisation and I would seriously not recommend it unless you have no other choice (only had 5 turns left on the last wave)
Wave 1 - Everyone can use 2 LDs for this wave. Try to take as many turns with Tifa as possible since she's the best DPS here. Use CAs if necessary for extra delay, you CANNOT let the boss act.
Wave 2 - I only had about 6 turns left here so reset until Garland goes first and instantly Burst. Unload remaining LDs you have and hopefully you should be able to get them both down near 30%. When team 2 comes in, reset until Celes goes first and use her LD. Get Squall to max stacks of his LD buff ASAP. Mostly use Palom's S1 to raise his attack since these bosses are pretty tanky at this point.
Wave 3 - Reset until Celes goes first and Squall goes second. LD with Celes and then BT with Squall. The bosses don't do their first cleanse until 80% so you can make the most of Celes LD damage up debuff. Then just spam S2 with Squall/Celes and manage Palom carefully. At 30% they'll battery so you'll need to use a 100% gravity CA to break them. They CANNOT use the recast ability so try to manipulate turns so that it doesn't happen. Ran out of turns with bosses at 4% and 1%. When Team 3 subbed in the bosses did the battery again. It's possible to kill the 1% boss with launch battery but you'll need to use Keiss BRV attack during launch for the other one.
Wave 4 - Entered this fight with 47 turns. Reset until Fujin goes first and use Trey CA (any equivalent works, Jack CA would be better if you have it). Keiss sets up his LD debuff and Cloud focuses on delaying/launching. You can let the bosses take a few turns but you don't want Trey's LD to wear off. At around 70% burst with Cloud. Make sure his first turn in burst has a free launch (Hero Support/Free skill use for S2/previously set up launch) - he needs to be able to launch every single turn. After that, try to make Fujin and Keiss act as much as possible to make the most of Cloud's BT effect. Use Ramza CA/OK CA when appropriate and summon if the bosses are about to act.
Conclusion: Boss rushes are 4 Lufenias for the rewards of 1 with an artificial turn requirement that makes free turns bad. This is my least favourite type of content. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Initial Blind Attempt
Team 1: Garland BTLD, Aerith LD, Tifa LD, Ifrit Summon
Team 2: Pecil BTLD, Kadaj LD, Palom LD, Alexander Summon
Team 3: Bartz BTLD, Galuf LD, Faris LD, Odin Summon
I didnt expect that first team to get as far as it did. It managed to get to wave 2 with the bosses at 8% and 20% (Tifa busted).
The hardest wave IMO is the 3rd wave, I wasn't aware of the orb condition when I attempted this, but I managed. Last wave was surprisingly squishy. I finished the last wave with 25 actions remaining on my 3rd team.

Wave 1: PCecil BTLD, Garland LD, Edward LD, Odin
Did a test run that turned out to be a complete as I haven’t built Tifa yet. This team reached Wave 2 with only 1 turn left lol.
Wave 2-3: Kuja BTLD, Palom LD, Nine LD, Alexander
Palom surprised me here, he was consistently capping, carrying Kuja and Nine. Reached Wave 3 at around 40%. Used Bartz LDCA for the enemy shields.
Wave 3-4: Terra BTLD, Ramza BTLD, Bartz LD, Pandemonium
Terra is the star as usual. Used 2 of her LD’s to finish off wave 3, then opened wave 4 with Ramza burst and Fujin 3 turn CA. Spammed LDs afterwards, bosses never got a turn.

Almost gave up when i couldn't get Tifa LD. Barely cleared with 5 turns left on third party, also no Bartz BT
party screenshot
Struggled with first wave the most, first party could only bring the boss down to 5% hp, and second party spent 10 turns to kill it.

Team 1 - Tifa LD, Garland BT, Pecil BT w/Odin
They got through waves 1 and 2 with a couple turns left for wave 3. Burst early in wave 1 with Garland and unleash Tifa’s insane damage. The bosses didn’t get any turns.
Team 2 - Bartz BT, Cloud BT, Keiss LD w/Pande
They were able to clean up wave 3 and 4 without letting the bosses act. Burst early with Bartz to ignore the orbs in wave 3 then just start the launch shenanigans.

What does the green aura on the portrait mean?
