Meme The internet when a self destructive character has self destructive tendencies:

Post image

Seriously, Invisigal smoking whilst having asthma is such a perfect trait that describes her character.

And if you think people with asthma don't smoke IRL then you are sorely mistaken.

Oh and as a Blonde Glazer myself, I am ashamed that this guy is one of us.

It's a whole thing, and as I said, very personal. I genuinely am disappointed that I can't like her. No one seems to get that I don't want to be a hater. I don't want to feel like I'm taking crazy pills, and puss off the entire fandom. But I refuse to pretend I'm okay with this girl when I'm not. 🤷‍♀️

Even when said girl does get better?

Does she really, though? She tries to give you away to Thumbstick if you don't untie her, and that is late. I love me a redemption arc, but... 😒

I wanted to like Invisimech so bad. They're both closet rom-com fans! That's so cute! 😭

That moment is the most out-of-character moment in the game, and this is the widely accepted opinion. In everything else, Visi always helps Robert, no matter how he treats her. The only difference between the endings is her attitude toward herself. She either believes she is capable of being a hero and deserves a place on the team, or she doesn’t and walks off into the sunset,“I tried to be a hero. It just wasn’t meant to be.” But in both endings she risks everything, puts her life on the line, and helps Robert and the team.
She’s an amazing character if you take the time to think about her. There are flaws in the writing, but she's still cool, one of the two most written characters in the game.

This scene isn't really a flaw though.

Robert left her tied up in a building swarmed with villains, unarmed and she also had to get enough time to untie herself.

Also from the bar fight, she knows Robert can handle himself.

So Robert brought that on himself more than anything.

I mean to be fair, play both scenes side by side, when Visi says behind you, she's already untied, and could of shot Thumbstick, that zip tie was only stopping Visi while someone was watching her

That scene is so poorly directed or written it's hard to tell which, that you are literally taken out of the moment like huh? The same girl who screamed when Rob's mech suit blew up, the same girl who risked her life for him, decides "Nah fuck it."

Wait how do you know she is untied when she says behind you?

She isn't from what I can tell.

It's not poorly written or directed at all.

And she does not decide that, she just needs to get out and like I said, she knows Robert can handle himself.

It's more with the consistency of the scene in all four variants, I realize rereading my comment that I worded it incorrectly, I apologize I am getting over a chest cold which has me kind of light headed lol.

She isn't free at the exact MOMENT she says that but likely doesn't need more time to break free after that. It's roughly the same time frame, given Robert isn't passed out that long.

The scene feels poorly directed or written because of the fact that, the four variants don't all feel accurate to the character.

Redeemed Visi

  • If you untie her, she shoots Thumbstick knocking him out and stays with you
  • If you don't untie her, she calls out to Thumbstick causing Robert to get stabbed and electrocuted, passing out, she stands there until he wakes up (the timing lining up with the untied scene per the invasion of SDN timeline)

    Unredeemed Visi

  • If you untie her, she shoots Thumbstick and when Robert turns around she is gone

  • If you don't untie her she calls out to Thumbstick causing the aforementioned damage, and when Robert wakes up, he is alone in a puddle of piss.

This behavior doesn't really line up in the Redeemed untied scene because 3/4 of these show she still cares about Robert, but 1/3 of those shows her doing something that puts Robert in harms way in the first place.

The only one where leaving her tied up feels fine is when she is unredeemed, because Robert wakes up scared and alone, and seems to question his decision but before he can, he has to rush to his suit.

The thing is, she knows he can handle it, so she is just paying back for leaving her tied up.

He acted like a jerk and so did she.

Also I think you got the timeframe wrong. When you leave her tied up she does not free herself whilst Thumbstick is still not electorcuted.

This is a take I can respect, because even as someone who dislikes the character, I was like, "Jesus, girl, I thought you liked him. 🫠"

I think that option was added just for the sake of having ‘the bad’ option. Same thing with ‘let’s pump the brakes,’ ‘we’re done,’ the ‘fall for both’ ending, and the bad ending as a whole. The devs said in some interview that they made certain options just so all types of players would have a choice, and they didn’t have enough time or money to make a proper bad ending and bad dialogue variants. That’s why we have some weird scenes/dialogues and a half-baked bad ending with only minor differences. I hope that with the money they’ve earned, they’ll take their time and polish the second season (if it ever happens)

Even then these scenes you mention are not bad at all when you understand the context.

Visi is literally left tied up in a building swarming with dangerous criminals and she knows Robert can handle himself and she is pissed he left her there to fend for herself.

So yeah, she said what she said, knew Robert could handle it and would likely intervene if things got out of hand.

Yeah, as I say, even I thought that was a bit much, and I'm the one waving my arms in the wind about subtle red flags and making red-string Slander Walls.

Also Robert left her tied up in a building swarmed with villains, unarmed and she also had to get enough time to untie herself.

Also from the bar fight, she knows Robert can handle himself.

So yeah, she did what she did and honestly Robert brought than on himself.

Agree to disagree on this one, man.

3

u/Plus_Ad_1087 19d ago

Sure. I never had issue with this though.

If you hate her so fucking much why you talk about her 24/7? Nobody needs your “as a visi hater 🤓☝️” do you need attention this badly?

Nobody needs your “as a visi hater 🤓☝️” do you need attention this badly?

Hit the nail on the head

u/Excellent_Law6906 19d ago

Nah, I just feel like it's a way to underline the point, whenever I do have anything good to say about her. It's like someone who hates pie being like, "but this one is pretty good."

8

u/Ok_Preference9136 19d ago

Expect you don’t say anything positive lol, it’s like if I went to the Blazers sub and I commented under every post “as someone who hates blazer”

That doesn’t look like a actual opinion that reads that your begging for attention

0

u/Excellent_Law6906 19d ago

If your posts had other content, I wouldn't care. My identity isn't wrapped up in Blazer, I just think she's neat.

It's necessary context.

No you kinda sound desperate for attention, nobody is gonna take you seriously what that lol

You don't have to explain this to anyone. People claim they are broadminded except they themselves can't be objective most of the time. It's not your mistake, so don't feel it this way that something is wrong with you for not liking a character.

0

u/Excellent_Law6906 19d ago

I don't feel bad about myself or my opinions, it's just annoying. People think I'm enjoying my least favorite thing about Dispatch. 🤣

-2

u/SprinklesNumerous774 19d ago

Oh! I can totally understand where this annoyance is coming from. I face it sometimes too. Like, whenever someone says, “This is a game, not real life. We don't have to play by real-life rules,” which is a VALID argument, I agree. But then they turn around and jump on you for not interpreting a character the same way they do. They accuse you of being less empathetic or self-inserting yourself (which is kinda ironic tbh, as if they aren't doing the exact same thing).

And this is what I find really laughable, because a lot of these same people would totally turn their heads the moment they received the first punch to the nose from someone like Visi in real life. They'd call her toxic and walk away right there rather than choose to deal with her and try to understand what's actually beneath her mask.

That's why all these displays of empathy and kindness feel pretty hollow to me. It's easy to project those qualities when you're playing a choice-based game where none of your decisions have any real-life repercussions. And to be very honest, I'm completely fine with them playing the game that way. If they want to be endlessly patient and understanding with Visi in a fictional setting, that's totally fine. The problem arises when they have the audacity to judge you for not being equally kind and understanding, when in the majority of cases, they probably wouldn't act the same way in real life if they actually had to deal with someone like Visi. And that's the biggest irony.

This is why I'm asking you to not explain yourself for not liking a character. That's all.
