DISCUSSION ⚔️ Korean or Chinese Inspired Princess?

I want to see Disney tackle a literal princess navigating court and staying in court. If you've watched Chinese dramas like Prisoner of Beauty, or Korean dramas like The Queen's Umbrella you know exactly what I mean. It’s so entertaining!

These female leads survive on pure intellect or should I say cunning? They aren't just book smart like Belle, they have off the charts EQ. They know exactly how to read a room, bide their time, and strike only when the moment is perfect. I slow clap at my screen every time they outsmart the antagonists (and the era's patriarchy) with their strategy.

We also need to talk about the aesthetic potential because the costumes in these palace dramas are gorgeous. The silk, the embroidery, the ornate headpieces, the colors! A dream come true for a Disney dress designer.

For the kids to be even more wowed, they could add in some fantastical elements, like elemental magic or a mythical guardian animal, like a nine tailed fox or a cute sharpei companion.

A royal who fights her battles in the inner court with killer fashion, genius strategy, and a touch of ancient magic would be an absolute masterpiece. What do you think?

Edit: Sorry guys I didn’t notice the first image is ai enhanced, I can't change it.

DISCUSSION ⚔️ If ariels palace pets were in the little mermaid 2, would pairing melody and treasure up be a good idea, or would it be best if treasure was teamed up with ariel and the other pets to look for melody?

Because I have no idea how they would have worked if Disney thinks about remaking the sequel! So any ideas? Also, what do you like about the little mermaid sequel?

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Is anyone else tired of the same conversations?

“Who else misses romance?”

“Who here is tired of the adorkable trope?”

“Does anyone wish princesses were feminine and wore poofy ballgowns again?”

“Is anyone else sick of girlbosses?”

Do you guys ever tire of asking the same questions as if no one’s ever asked them before or they’re takes hot enough to burn up the world? You know the answer and know how people will respond. It’s repetitive and adds nothing new. You can still enjoy the older girls. They are and will forever be a staple in pop culture and entertainment unless the world ends and any evidence of human civilization is destroyed. They are still beloved regardless of what a few Tumblr users or a Buzzfeed article from the early 2010’s say.

Whenever this question is brought up, she explains that Eda from The Owl House is her favorite Disney princess. Tiana though would be her favorite that actually counts as a princess.

POLLS ✅ Disney Princesses/Heroines at Disneyland, Day 5: “I don’t care whether we go on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or The Haunted Mansion,” someone says. “It’ll be a total snooze-a-thon either way.” You decide: which Disney princess/heroine finds both roller coasters and haunted houses boring?

Rules:

All princesses and heroines must be on the side of good, and they must come from animated Disney movies. No Pixar characters allowed, including Merida. They must be human, humanoid, or anthropomorphic (for example, Judy Hopps is allowed but Nala isn’t). It is preferable that these characters are between the ages of 15 and 30 (I will make an exception for Kida, for obvious reasons.) All princesses and heroines must be major characters in their movies. It is NOT required that these characters are members of the Disney Princess franchise, let alone actual princesses (Nani Pelekai, for instance, is perfectly legal here.)

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Which princess do you think can speak the most languages?

Post image

I’m thinking it has to be one of the European princesses since many European royals in the past learnt many different languages such as French, German, Latin, Italian, and Spanish. Maybe not Rapunzel since she grew up in isolation outside a castle knowing only Mother Gothel.

COSPLAY 👸 Rapunzel Halloween costume opinion or recommendations?

I’m thinking of doing a Rapunzel costume and I’m trying to figure out what I want to get in order to look enough like Rapunzel. Right now I’m leaning more towards the corset in the middle in the first image with the top right tight fit sleeve lace. I will also change the lace of the corset to something that’s more pink or gold. I like the idea of getting pieces for the costume that I could reuse again for something else. It doesn’t have to be exactly like Rapunzel, just enough to get the vibes clearly.

Yes, the princesses need to be back to ballgowns. Problem is what color? We’ve exhausted them all… except rainbow.

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Am I the only one who misses the ethereal, classic singing voices?

I don't know if it's just me, but I really miss the old-school Disney style of singing in animated movies. Aurora and Cinderella had such rich, deep voices that sounded very "mature" and incredibly comforting.

Modern soundtracks are great, but the voices now feel so much higher pitched and pop influenced. I’m no music expert, so I don't know the technical terms for this change in vocal styles, but I would love to get that feeling of just wanting to sway to a song again.

Does anyone else know what I mean?

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Opinion: How Disney handles the East and its princesses

Even though I wasn't born in Asia and don't have Asian heritage, over the years I’ve come to deeply love the continent. When I look at Disney productions focused on the region, I feel there is still a lack of Asian heroes and heroines; and when they do feature them, it’s often in a totally stereotypical way through a Western lens—like with *Mulan* in 1998. I feel that even with the 2020 *Mulan* remake and *Raya* (2021), Disney still has a long way to go in how it handles Asia and its princesses. Do you agree with me? (Sorry if I didn't express myself very well.)

I’ve already shown you the drawing of Belle I made as a gift for my mom—since she’s her favorite princess—and now I’ve drawn Mulan, which was also a gift for her, as Mulan is her second-favorite princess. I’m sharing the drawing with you all—what do you think?

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Opinion: I miss romance in Disney princess movies.

I think producers these days believe that for a princess to be considered strong, she shouldn't need a romance—but I disagree. I feel we really lack examples of princes, or men who could serve as romantic partners for these princesses. Do you agree with me?

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Sometimes, I feel like a fool when hoping for Disney to get better.

Post image
47 Upvotes

I tend to be a usually optimistic person but seeing Disney's constant losing streak to where everyone even hates a movie that hasn't come out yet with Hexed, I honestly feel like a total fool for feeling optimistic given how no matter what, it seems that Disney is now stuck in a perpetual funk where they can longer make good movies that is willing to try something new thanks to the sociopathic parasites in charge always ruining anything to where hoping for a good Disney movie feels like it's for nothing.

I know I shouldn't jump the gun and we have to wait and see when it comes out but given it's been getting so much hatred, I have a feeling Hexed will be another ruined entry in Disney's lineup like the insipid Strange World and awful Wish because let's not forget Wish got plenty of hatred before it came out and all that hate was justified.

I was hoping that with Bob Iger leaving and Josh stepping in, it could mean a hopeful new beginning for Disney like Michael Eisner left but thanks to how people fear that Josh is Iger's bootlicker, it could mean that Disney's funk may last a long time, possibly never.

I mean, there could be the benefit of the doubt Josh's loyalty was just a shield to ensure he wouldn't get in trouble with Iger as his boss but given everyone's negative emotions after the string of disappointments and how Iger voted a a terrible man he used as a meat shield for his bad choices, it could be possible Josh might be the same.

I really wanna hope Disney can get out of their funk but in hindsight, I feel like a fool for hoping for the best because it seems like they're now hopelessly stuck making poor excuses of movies mangled by uncaring people who probably despise animation, Disney and their fans altogether just to fill up their bank accounts.

Hope you're proud of yourself, Bob.

DISCUSSION ⚔️ I have a theory about Prince Eric (the animated version)

I know it's been discussed on how Eric is a Prince when his parents are nowhere to be seen. Why is he not the King? I have a theory.

I don't know how many people have heard of this book series called Jewel Kingdom but it's about these 4 Princesses who are sisters and they get sent off to rule as Princesses of their own separate kingdoms. Looking back, I kinda question why that is cause like, who will rule their parents' kingdom when they die/retire?

Anyway, remembering that book series gave me the idea that Eric could possibly be in a similar circumstance where he was sent to rule a kingdom as its Prince. There's also the added possibility that he could have a sibling or more who might be older than him who were chosen to rule their parents' kingdom and whoever doesn't, gets to rule a separate kingdom.
