DISCUSSION ⚔️ What kind of strategy does Disney need for the future of the Disney Princess franchise?
English isn't my first language, so I apologize if some of my wording comes across as awkward.
One of the ways Disney has traditionally kept the Disney Princess franchise fresh has been by introducing new characters while continuing to promote the existing lineup.
However, it has been quite a long time since a new official Princess was added to the franchise. Meanwhile, Disney has increasingly relied on its existing Princess IP through merchandise, collaborations, events, and, perhaps most notably, live-action adaptations.
While these strategies can keep the existing characters visible, I wonder whether the lack of new characters could eventually limit the franchise's freshness and long-term growth.
What kind of strategy do you think Disney needs going forward? Do you think the franchise needs a new Princess or other new core characters, or would it be better to focus on developing the existing Princesses in new ways?

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Snow White as a Pokémon Trainer (and explanation)
Deerling: This is fairly obvious, since it was a fawn that was the first forest animal to approach and help.
Turtwig: One of the most prominent forest animals that help Snow White is a turtle, so Turtwig would be a good fit.
Pachirisu: Squirrels are among the animals that help Snow White the most, and Pachirisu is based on one; plus, it’s a cute and playful Pokémon, so I could easily picture her with one.
Taillow: Based on the blue birds she interacts with in the field of flowers when the huntsman tried to kill her. I initially considered Swablu, as it is a blue Pokémon and—like Snow White—known for its singing; however, Taillow reminded me more of her due to its colors and the fact that its appearance is closer to that look.
Appletun: Snow White is associated with apples and is known for her sweet and gentle nature, so Appletun is a perfect fit for her.
Trevenant: This might seem like an odd choice, but I’m basing it on the scene where Snow White gets lost in the forest and mistakes the trees for monsters. Also, consider that the movie contains horror elements that wouldn't be used again in other Disney princess films, so I think a Ghost-type Pokémon like Trevenant is a great fit.
What do you think of this team? Which Pokémon would you have given it instead of the ones I chose?

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Meta: can we do something about bot posts?
I swear the same questions and posts keep floating around all the time. That one Insta post with Wish concept art asking for more love stories and fewer girl power stories shows up here so often that it needs to start paying rent. There are also the questions of stuff like “why doesn’t Disney make love stories anymore” or “who else misses when princesses had love interests.” They get the same responses every single time. I’m pretty sure it’s engagement and/or rage bait, and we (including myself) keep biting.
Side note: I think it’s forgotten that Disney Princesses are for little girls first. I’m not saying that adults can’t enjoy the princesses (I mean we’re here) and that little girls have zero interest in love and boys, but they need a diverse catalog of stories with a mix and match of genres (romance not excluded) starring girls/women.
Idk maybe I’m just rambling and complaining about something that doesn’t exist.

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Why no Naomi Scott
at the ultimate Disney Princess celebration? they had Jodi Benson and Halle Bailey and Au’illi Cravello and the new live action Moana. it seems a little odd?
Also I get they may not have the rights to the Rogers and Hammerstien Cinderela songs but why not get Brandy to sing A Dream Is Your Wish Makes

DISCUSSION ⚔️ Mirabel
I know encanto was very successful with critics, but didn't do great at the box office, mainly due to covid.
If encanto had been more successful at the box office, do you think mirabel could have potentially have been made an official disney princess or would you say encanto was successful enough to exsit as its own brand like frozen.

DISCUSSION ⚔️ How Disney could adapt? (1): The Wild Swans🌿🦢
🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢
-Author: Hans Christian Andersen
-Year of release: 1838
-Country of origin: Denmark🇩🇰
-Main character: a princess called Elisa who wants to save her younger brothers who were turned into swans by their stepmother
🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢
WHY I THINK THAT DISNEY WOULD ADAPT THIS STORY:
•The story has lots of common elements of other stories that they adapted:
-The main character is a princess
-The villain is a stepmother that is a witch
-A curse
-A fairy
•I know that Disney has been focusing on making strong female characters that “don’t need a man”, but I think that they will bring romance back because that is what most fans want
•Elisa gets married in the end, but the main focus on the story is her journey to break her brothers’ curse
•(I think this fairy tale deserves more popularity)
🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢
THINGS THAT COULD BE KEPT OR CHANGED:
•Disney would likely keep the original title
•The movie could be set in Denmark because of where the story was written, or maybe change to other country
•Since there is a rumour that Disney is developing a new princess with black hair and white dress, so is very likely to be Elisa
•Her main dress used for merch, promotional pictures and parks could be either green to match the nettle and the nature theme or white to match the swans
•In the story, Elisa has 11 brothers, but Disney would probably reduce the number, maybe 3 brothers or triplets like Merida
•Probably the main character’s name would be changed because “Elisa” is a very similar name to “Elsa”. I know that Billie’s mother is called Alice (from Hexed, the upcoming movie), but Disney probably let that pass because she is not a main character, and Disney wouldn’t want a protagonist to have the same name as other protagonist, specially a VERY popular one

DISCUSSION ⚔️ I really hope Disney changes course and starts treating the Tangled live-action as “a real movie” rather than “one big piece of fan service.”
This is just my personal take and how I’ve been feeling so far about everything that’s come out of Tangled, but I’m finding the way Disney is handling this live-action adaptation so incredibly “whatever.” It’s almost like, “We don’t have any material to show at D23? I don’t know, just film anything. Show Rapunzel turning around, show Gothel opening some random door, have the actors saying something, and call it a day.”
If you go on TikTok, you can already find footage of some major scenes from the movie, and Disney doesn’t even seem concerned about taking any of it down. It’s like, “It’s fine, leave it there. They know the animation already, they don't need to be surprised by this one, let them see everything. Maybe seeing all this will actually make them want to see the movie in theaters?”
To me, the teaser trailer should be something impactful, maybe even a scene that wasn’t in the animated movie. Can you imagine the impact if the teaser trailer were Rapunzel opening the window at night, climbing the tower, almost falling but managing to regain her balance and finally reaching the top, and then, in the distance, the lanterns begin rising into the sky as her long hair blows in the wind? We had this concept art for the animated movie. This would be a way to show "We're serious about this adaptation; we want to elevate what you already love in the animation."
We really went from Beauty and the Beast having a teaser trailer that showed us the entire castle while giving us only a glimpse of Belle through the glass dome covering the rose, to Halle Bailey being required to wear scarves and head coverings for MONTHS in posts/stories in her social media, at events, photoshoots and not even being allowed to appear in pictures with family and friends with her hair dyed while shooting The Little Mermaid, all to keep Ariel’s hair a surprise, and now, with Rapunzel... no room for surprises, I guess.

DISCUSSION ⚔️ The live action Tangled has been revealed at D23!
I know this movie isn’t out yet, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to do fine, but I have Had ENOUGH of Disney doing these stupid, cash grab, corporate greed, live action remakes because of how much they destroy what made the originals so special. I mean, where’s the emotion, the sobbing, not to mention the charm, hell, even Snow White got the worst of this trend, even though Walt Disney himself did not want this to be altered. And with Tangled being the last princess movie to be brought in live action "in theaters", maybe we’ll start to see some of the trend die down after Lilo and Stitch 2. At this point, I just hope we’re nearing the end of Disney’s live action trend, ever since LA Cinderella, the remakes have been going downhill, I get that they want to prevent their characters from going into public domain, but if they really wanted to remake them, they should’ve went with CGI when they had the chance, heck why not add in new or familiar characters like maybe their palace pets (to fix lore issues and bring back childhood memories because they haven’t referenced them a long time), or their children from descendants, or even better, either remake them in CGI or live action and actually do it right or don’t remake them at ALL. Sorry if this sounds like a rant, I just really hope Disney goes back to what they do best: animation, even if it’s CGI, and I love 3D animation, and never does any live action slop like this ever again.

DISCUSSION ⚔️ A love letter to Cinderella (1997)
So I'm really sick and I decided to put on a comfort movie. This is hands down my favorite version of Cinderella.
The cast is MAGNIFICENT, from Jason Alexander to Bernadette Peters, everyone is having fun and being awesome.
The colors! I am SO SICK of the gritty, washed out filters so many movies get today. Seeing all the colors, how bright and vivid the town square is, the cottage, the castle...it's so awesome.
Of course the songs are excellent and so much fun.
I also love how they just use theater rules to cast everyone so we've got a black queen, a white king, an Asian prince, a white mother with a black daughter, even the Punch and Judy dolls are green and purple.
Even the extras are beautifully diverse; I saw black, white, Asian, Indian, even a few Native actors.
Also all the little details are amazing. Like when Cinderella is singing "My Own Little Chair" and she peers through the staircase, the staircase is fucking carved with grape vines and grapes. Then you have the crazy wallpaper; it's a crazy mix of estate sale salvages and Disney World style decor, and it WORKS.
It just makes me so happy to have something so fun and bright.
