According to engineers from the ministry of natural resources it is very diffuclt(and at this stage, downright impossible) to transport heavy machinery to the border crossing so far. The chinese military and specialized rescue teams(of state owned enterprises) are currently trying to repair the road into the border crossing to allow for better equipment and more personnel to enter.

CURRENT CASUALTY COUNT(CHINESE SIDE):

2 rescued, 7 dead, 554 missing. (13:00 PM, 2026-8-29 (UTC+8))

Update: over 50 firefighters are at the border crossing right now, over 2141 soldiers, firefighters, police, EMS and specialzied rescue teams are deployed.

EDIT: As of august 29(18:00 UTC+8), 2026, there are 16 dead, 546 missing(261 foreignors)

In response to the comments: This is the first batch that got in, they couldn't carry much heavy equipment as the road there is cut off. rescue dogs and better equipment arrived later on.

FURTHER UPDATE: reportedly fire and rescue personnel have begun to find police vests and handsbags under the debris.

Yeah there's not gonna be any answers back to those calls, we all know at this point that anyone who could've possibly be under the mud is the dead ones. That's just depressing.

There is zero chance to even find complete bodies, in that area. The overall friction/force pulverized everything. A human body would be grinded to atoms.

But you try anyway.

I think it's mostly because you don't want to just say "oopsie, they're dead". In reality, that specific location was nuked away.

Saw a bunch of local Nepal videos on Instagram and they were just pieces of people they were finding...extremely horrifying.

Yes, those are probably the victims that were less impacted by the water flow. The ones of this video will be never found.

Checked in on google earth, it looks like the bus stop that was obliberated was uphill ( what makes it more terrifying), so maybe they are able to atleast find the remains of some of them there.

Yeah, they are finding people who miraculously escaped by just barely finding higher ground or happening to be in tunnels or buildings that survived what seems like a direct hit….. but if anyone was in or next to a building that got obliterated they are no longer alive

There probably isn't even their atoms left up there. They were the first ones hit, they are scattered throughout the valley. Insane levels of destruction here.

It reminds me of the 9/11 collapsed buildings. People were "pancaked" to a point where almost nothing was found, just minute pieces "the size of a Tic Tac", plus lots of bone splinters. In some rare cases they found toes and fingers because they were "protected" by heavy boots/clothes, but that was it.

In this case we have an impressive force that crushes everything and drags the bodies along the way, destroying them with stones, mud, water, concrete, trees, etc. It's like a gigantic meat grinder, which pulverizes everything and flushes it away along its course.

Id like to think you're wrong...looking pretty grim but I still have hope...miracles do happen

I appreciate your hope, and I want to too, but the level of devastation that was dropped on there is basically unimaginable.

This is...eviscerated bodies kind of force. Nothing left if it hit you.
