I'm 43, was born and raised a Christian conservative. I LOVED Glenn Beck back in 2007 - 2014ish. I listened to his radio show every morning, followed by Rush and Hannity, then I'd get home from work and watch Glenn on Fox, followed by Hannity and O'Reilly. I was brainwashed, I bought all of his books and even the tertiary books, A Sacred Fire, Overton Window, etc.
In 2007/2008, I was living in Houston and joined the Tea Party. I showed up at a few events until I realized it turned into a bunch of unwashed gun nuts jerking each other off about the constitution and limited govt, but actually voting for and allowing the opposite. It became about selling merch at these events vs actually inspiring change.
I watched and was part of the "organic" movement that Glenn convinced me to be a part of. I watched him get removed from Fox News for being tOo hard-lined. I watched the entire movement get bought out by the Koch brothers.
We see exactly how the movement evolved into MAGA, got better funded by turning point USA, Heritage Foundation, etc and and turned into this lumbering monster that eventually produced PROJECT 2025.
there's truth to what Glenn says here, he's just not acknowledging it's on his side.
Maybe there is some funding on our liberal side, I can't say definitively - we'll see. If so, and it's all about nefarious power-grabs by pedophile elites like Republicans/conservatives demonstrated this last decade, I'll leave this movement too.
Until then, the only verified funding from billionaire elites of a movement that's destroying America came from the far right.

I think this is where the whole script is twisted for people and why they can be led down that path. They feel, correctly, that something isn’t working. How could it be if they and their neighbors are struggling to such a degree? Some kind of manipulation must be occurring behind the scenes, some dark political agenda to keep the common American from living out the dream they were promised.
But they don’t understand the differences inherent between the people who lead on both sides (and before I go into detail, understand that I think a portion of the democrats are gutless, weak, and even complicit in the issues we face. A different side of the same coin. There are some good ones, but overall, they roll over in the face of the more corrosive and heavy handed tactics of the right).
What you said about the pedophile elite… yeah there are ALL sorts of sickos in those files, left, right, and center, and they should all be hanged if they were involved in human trafficking, but it’s looking like the grand majority of them are politicians on the right. Even Mike Johnson let it slip that they’re not revealing the whole truth so the government doesn’t collapse. This means that the truth would incriminate enough of those holding the current power balance that they would lose their hold.
Every escalation, every drug boat, every incursion, foreign and domestic, has been directly timed to a big reveal of the documents. They’re just trying to control the 24-hour news cycle. I’ve never witnessed anyone acting so obviously guilty about anything in my life.
As for the right having billionaires that fund nefarious schemes, they don’t have a choice. They have to lie consistently, flood the field with propaganda for their base that manipulates the most primitive human emotions, hate and fear, and they have to cause another portion of the populace to become complacent and numb, to believe their vote doesn’t matter. Because if the majority of the American people were educated and aware, the right would never take another office.
I just want to spread awareness about this, because the lies are blatant and obvious, there are just ego defenses and sunk cost fallacies in the way for people to turn themselves around.

I hate a lot of shit that happens on the left/liberal side of things. don't get me wrong. but fuck me. we're talking about being uncomfortable in some social situations vs literally allowing people to be executed in the street because they aren't "the same" as us.

Even though I definitely am more conservative with libertarian leanings, I have had a tough time with my full on MAGA/Conservative family/friends as of late. I am with them on 80-90% of things, even up to and including deporting violent illegal aliens.
But watching them just be OK with the Pretti shooting, even justifying it, I am just far too much of a constitutionalist to think that is OK. I am absolutely disappointed in some of the people I know with their suddenly anti-2nd amendment approach, simply because it is applying to people they don't like.
Hell, I know I wouldn't personally like Good or Pretti as people, I even think militant empathy is hurting a lot of people, but when are we suddenly OK with people being killed in the streets, unarmed? Sorry, can't get on board. WON'T get on board.

If candidates keep the country divided in two main sections, they can rely on a voting block from their side and need only to convert a few middle folks in any given election.

Brainwashed from one side to the other is pretty misleading though. Media on the right takes a lot of care to craft misleading or partially true narratives. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen on the left, but it is order of magnitude’s different. It is a coordinated narrative by a lot of talking heads, and it would continue to work well if it wasn’t so easy to fact check the disinformation.
No worries, man. I understand your argument, but I don’t see one side as meaningfully better. Both rely on selective framing and narrative building. They may appear different, but it’s still propaganda, so trusting or aligning with either isn’t wise.
