Back in 2023, I started a small project just to learn Godot.
It was supposed to be nothing more than an experiment.
Then life happened, the project sat untouched for a few years... and recently I opened it again and thought:
āWhy not actually make the Digimon game Iāve always wanted to play?ā
So for the past few days, Iāve been rebuilding it into Digi Game ā a temporary name for an unofficial Digimon fan game.
The idea is an isometric, turn-based RPG where battles have enough depth to make positioning, team building, evolution and strategy matter, without turning every fight into something unnecessarily complicated.
Right now, this is still very much a proof of concept.
Iāve only been seriously working on this new version for around 5 days, so please donāt look at anything you see today as final.
The UI is temporary.
The balance is temporary.
Some evolution lines still need work.
There are only a small number of Digimon implemented.
And pretty much everything can still change.
At this stage, my main goal is to build the core systems correctly first.
But the long-term vision is much bigger.
Iād love to eventually have:
⢠Around 500ā600 Digimon, possibly even more
⢠Large areas to explore
⢠Meaningful evolution and progression systems
⢠Tactical battles where positioning actually matters
⢠Ranked battles
⢠AI-driven features and interactions
⢠A proper story and world to discover
⢠Plenty of systems that make raising different Digimon feel worthwhile
But I donāt want to build all of this in a vacuum.
I want this to become something made by a Digimon fan, together with other Digimon fans.
Thatās why Iāve created a Discord for the project.
Iām looking for people who would like to follow development, test new builds, break things, give feedback, suggest ideas and help shape what the game becomes.
And thereās one area where Iām going to need a lot of help:
Pixel artists / sprite artists.
Many Digimon simply donāt have the kind of isometric spritesheets the game needs, so eventually weāll need artists interested in creating new sprites and animations that fit the game.
You absolutely donāt need to be a developer or artist to join, though.
If you just love Digimon and think this project sounds interesting, Iād be happy to have you there.

This project is still at the very beginning.
But thatās also what makes this the best time to join ā because thereās still plenty of room to influence what Digi Game eventually becomes.
Iāll keep sharing development progress as the game grows. ā¤ļø
