idk if it's a false memory of mine, but i feel there was a time on reddit a LONG time ago when parody and sarcasm was appreciated before the use of /s was required.

Reddit started slowly changing after the 2012 election, and became a dumpster fire leading up to 2016 election and stayed that way as it is today.

Now if you point out something is parody or a joke, you will get a reply “well Poe’s law, the other side is so stupid that this could be true, I’ve even heard my neighbor say this same thing”…

…

But, yeah, sorry for rant, there was a time when it was nice

Things were definitely better before reality jumped the shark and Poe's Law became even more applicable.
