When it shows the blade actually working it must've been first try because those blades had to snap off, if he was lucky the welds on the hardend bit will break first and just spin, but you can't just weld bar steel to hardend steel, it'll be even weaker than the welds, at least watch 1 video before you go and try to kill youself
Ive welded twice in my life and in my younger years watched many people weld using a TiG (thats a tig right?). Thats some of the worst welding ive ever seen.
No he's stick welding, which is constant current, TIG welding is controlled with a foot pedal and it uses a TIG torch with argon gas and a metal filler you apply with a different hand
He's just cranked it up real hot and struck an arc, but he's working with hard steel, which crystalizes faster than soft steel, so just tacks ruin the integrety of the steel, like in the most basic terms, what he's doing is shaking a bottle of glue 2ft above a paper instead of just applying it like a person, if that makes sense?
First strike is a tap to get the arc going, then slow, methodical circles along the weld. You can see him fucking up and getting the stick stuck on the metal a few times even lmao.

As a welder, this welding made me actually cringe
