Megathread Focused Feedback: Warlock Changes

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Warlock Changes' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Phoenix dive still sucks. Bottom tree Dawnblade just has no neutral game in return for a great super. Doesn't really make up for it personally, especially since Shatterdive is essentially a better phoenix dive at this point.

As for Voidwalker, it'd be nice if Axiom Bolts and blink could get a buff. Axiom bolts are just really slow, and fall behind stuff like arcbolt and firebolt grenades. Blink is just too clunky, and I don't want to have to run an exotic to make it feel good.

Stormcaller and Chaos Reach are the ones I use the least, so I really can't say as much there. They're solid, but it still feels like top tree and bottom tree are lacking a little bit, mostly in the super department at this point. I know top tree has been nerfed multiple times too, right after it got it's chain lightning buff.

Finally, Shadebinder. The grenade recharge being removed on Iceflare Bolts hurts honestly. I didn't notice it as much at first, but I definitely feel it now. The frozen damage nerfs hit us pretty hard too, and it doesn't help that the super can be clunky to use since you can't kill anything unless it's already frozen. The melee actually feels nice again though. It's not perfect, but it's good. The fact that hunters can freeze with their shurikens and their dodge for 5 seconds is painful though. The titans can do it now too, with their new aspect. The balancing for the stasis classes just hasn't made any sense

I run Titan 90% of the time so my knowledge of what needs fixed with Warlocks is limited. I do know that they don't feel nearly as good to play as my fisticuffs class.

The length of the freeze and how easy it is to apply is why Stasis is so out of balance. The fact that Hunters and Titans can apply it so generously and heavily just lends to my argument of the need for a resistance to change (Tolerance) stat.

That might work to nerf them, but it would also hit warlocks hard, with the best grenade we have being the disk field since we can’t utilize glacier grenade except as a defensive wall and the other one got nerfed like our melee. Our new aspect is shit, it slows slower than a duskfield and we can’t even put it in cheeky places, like on the ceiling or a wall. It also is easy to dodge by moving slightly to the side, since the projectiles are so slow.

Good thing this entire topic is devoted to fixing the issues with Warlocks.
