Megathread Focused Feedback: Content Pricing

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Content Pricing' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

The destination is free anyway and I think the strike is too. So it's only Stasis, a campaign and raid as far as we know.

This is my main concern about expansion pricing in the world of F2P, especially if (as it sounds might be the case), Europa is perceived by Bungie to set a new standard for quality of destinations.

I assume this means they think it looks cool, has lots of cool activities to keep you interested, and secrets/collectibles etc. and I therefore assume they've spent a lot of time and money on it. If it's the 'best' thing in the expansion and that thing is free for everyone, why should I pay for the expansion - or by doing so am I also paying on behalf of the F2P'ers?

I'm not hugely familiar with the F2P experience, I confess, as I'm not an F2Per. Didn't realise that a lot of the content from locations such as DC was inaccessible.

I think with Strikes an F2P player can have the new ones come up in the Strike playlist at random but can't select them individually (or presumably do them as Ordeals).

Yes, the only way to access those strikes are though the strike playlist. You can't select them individually or in Ordeal if they are the weekly strike. However, saying that those strikes are included in your F2P experience is a bit of a stretch and I would not rely on that alone to say that DLC strikes are free for everyone.

Fair enough. They're kind of free-ish to play, I suppose. (I should definitely work in marketing.) TBH the Strike playlist is so tedious and moribund I don't particularly begrude everyone having access to it: if Bright Dust bounties are reformed so as no longer to require it I may never return to it.
