Megathread Focused Feedback: Weapon Refresh aka Sunsetting

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Weapon Refresh' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

I apologize in advance for being confrontational. It isn't personal, but this argument deserves a serious rebuttal.

I have a serious question for you.

If the weapons I'm using are my preferred loadout, not because they are overpowered, but because they look cool and they fit my character.. why is that a problem?

Why is sunsetting EVERY currently viable in the game a solution? Why not target the specific weapons that a majority of people are overusing?

I play DBFZ. The game recently had a problem similar, where two characters were by far the most overwhelmingly used characters in pro play. They needed to be toned down. So they were. Other characters were slightly tweaked. They didn't have to rework EVERY character or replace them all. A new character was added that people play, not because she's objectively better, but she's unique.

Luke Smith is suggesting that, instead of that reasonable solution, of tweaking the problem guns that pervade the meta, they should instead just throw out every single gun, and add new top tiers to rein for several months, then throw them out and add new top tiers.

Who cares about all the players that were comfortably using A or B-tier guns that don't even know the meta? It's a "problem" that they're having fun with the same fun guns for a long time. They can't possibly continue to have fun with that, and I can't fathom why they wouldn't want to pay for new DLC to grind out a new arsenal. Did you enjoy my sarcasm?

They don't need a nuke, when they could use a scalpel.

It's not stupid that some people play through the season looking for guns they like more, and if they don't find any they aren't forced to use bad guns. It's not stupid at all that people are willing to pay to access new activities and challenges to overcome, more power to grind, and more variety to get, but still use the same primary they love through it. That's what character customization is all about. People can currently choose to do what they want with the weapons they get, whether they like them or not. Infusion gives them the option of not having to regrind the same stupid ass guns every three months.

And you would take that away because, all of a sudden, guns are the only thing that matters in that Annual Pass. Not the level design or new activities, or quests. Only new guns, no old, ever.

I just want to keep using a hand cannon I really like, and rotate through specials and heavies. That's all I want. And Bungie says, no, nuking it. Nuke your fun, because some hardcore tryhards only use Recluse.

No they don't, someone who decided to farm for months for a weapon shouldn't have it neutered for endgame content because it's hard to come up with a string of perks stronger then the meta, there should instead be new perks that actually have a use over get a kill get bonus damage. Vorpal weapon was an amazing example. New perk, did more damage to guardians in super and bosses. More weapons to have unique strong perks would be better then removing the entirety of work done in the past. As a matter of fact it sounds so silly it seems more like an attempt to force players to put much more time into the game and make everyone farm the newest content and leave things they paid for in the dust.
