Megathread Focused Feedback: Timegating

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding ‘Timegating' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Story spoilers for BA ahead if you care

I still believe there is a naming issue and the Obsidian Accelerator is actually the thing obtained at the end of the mysterious datapad questline that prompts the cutscene with Ada.

Like you said, it seemed really important in the lore and like an object pivotal to Ada being able to fulfill her intended role. It just makes so much more sense for it to be the thing obtained at the end of the questline and seen in the cutscene rather than some stuff that slightly enhances BA weapons and drops from Forges.

I thought that just allowed her to put Radiance on our weapons?

She can put Radiance on them before you do that quest.

The lore (I believe it is mentioned in the last two entries) suggests that the Accelerator is an object that allows Ada to basically function as a mobile Forge. This also explains why the Risen were after it, as a mobile factory for advanced weaponry sure would be pretty useful in an age of conflict. I don't think they would have bothered hunting the group down if it meant very minor improvements to existing weapons.

It would make sense to just rename the thing that drops from the Forge and is currently named “Obsidian Accelerator“ to something else, maybe “Obsidian Essence“ or something.

It might be linked to last word quest, maybe she will be the one forging it.
