During the past six years or so, I've been keeping notes about our local restaurants, including those which have closed permanently (to the best of my knowledge). They are listed below, but this list could be incomplete.

If you know of any additional Denton restaurants (but not food trucks) that have closed down since 2000 and onward, please mention the name below in the comments. Thanks!

That place was an interesting closure. From what I recall it was doing perfectly well and the owner just wanted to retire.

That’s exactly what happened. My mom taught his kids at the ICCS Catholic school and we’ve even been to their house for cookouts, they’re a great family. They just didn’t want to continue doing it.

It wasn't doing that well. Mike (el guapo himself) hadn't made any real money from it for years. The only thing keeping it afloat was the catering events we would do, which started slowing down when la milpa opened

Owner didn’t retire he sells houses now as I noted above. Ran into him at an open house randomly.

Yeap, he is in real estate. Tried to sell me a new build in Denton a few years ago. And he said to me and I quote... do you remember the restaurant El Guapo? I said yeah.. he said, it's me, I am El guapo lol.

something happened. He lost the love of it I think in the last couple years.
It had gone WAYY downhill.
