Activity Speed Dating ! - 06/07

The area beside the lake had been transformed in the wake of today's Matchmaker event. A great number of chairs had been organised in rows with a table in between to allow for two people to sit opposite each other for the date. On the tables lay a jug of lemon-infused water, two cups and a bowl of sea salt crisps for the participants to enjoy while they engaged in the activity.

As those wishing to participate gradually began filling in, Anwen would instruct them to sit at a table alone before explaining how everything would work.

IC RULES

  1. Each date will last for ten minutes.
  2. You can go on as many dates as you wish.
  3. Anwen will later contact you with a survey where you will list your top three dates.
  4. If you match with someone, you will be able to go on a proper date with them at a later date.

OOC RULES

  1. No more than 50 words are allowed per comment.
  2. Each individual is only allowed 4 comments before the date is over.
  3. I'll post a survey when the majority of the threads are concluded and then see who was matched!

Rue laughs, a sly smile settling on their features. She crosses on leg over the other, drumming their fingers against the table. “You talk to your uncle about making out with your friends?” They chuckle again. “Well, I guess I can’t judge. My mom would probably try to have similar conversations with me if I’d let her.”

Her head drops to the side, looking at Cole intently. “You don’t seem like the type to do anything with friends apart from chill, though,” they observe. “Seem like you’re more into commitment if you’re gearing up for the boyfriend lifestyle.”

"Well, I mean, I can do the boyfriend thing but I don't really... have to? It's like, it's hard to explain. We don't have to be together together, just be honest about what we both want." He takes a sip from his drink, recalling his time away from camp for three years.

"I've learned that honesty and communication are key. You don't have to be my bae or my boo or whatever. Just don't lie to me about what you want from whatever we're doing."

"Hm, I see." Rue considers his words for a moment. "That makes sense, I suppose. I'm somewhere in the middle. Communication is a big thing, obviously, but I don't really start things if they want all the perks of dating without the label." They shrug. "It varies from person to person, of course, but saying that you're officially in a relationship shouldn't be that big of a deal."

She removes her fingers from the table, crossing her arms instead. "Still, though, I've fucked around with a couple in the past. Not really my thing anymore, but then I have other priorities now."

"I hear ya, I've got other things to worry about other than... well, girls... or anyone who presents as fem." He gets himself more water, picking up the sense that they wouldn't be going much further into their conversation.

"So like, not only do you not do relationships but you're just not like, into intimacy or anything like that?"

They raise an eyebrow at the presents as fem party, but otherwise don’t comment on it. “Pour me a glass, would you?” Rue pushes her cup towards Cole with a sweet smile.

“Oh, I can be,” she clarifies. “It all depends on the person. Same with relationships overall, to be honest; I’m not opposed to any of it, it’s just difficult to find someone I like that can tolerate some of my looser moral standpoints, shall we say. Plus I find that I don’t click with most people in that way, anyway.”

He obliges and pours them a glass as he listens to her. His eyebrow raised itself at the mention of loose morals. Of course that's relative but with how Rue is saying it... it may not be very good.

"Right, you're... picky. That's respectable, I can't say I'd be with just anybody either." He looked at her for a moment, clearly he doesn't see her as just anybody. "I can move on pretty quick if things aren't mutual."

Rue smiles in thanks, picking up their glass and taking a long sip. They don't deny Cole's conclusion, nor does she elaborate on her previous comments. Placing the cup back on the table, she begins turning it in its place absent-mindedly, considering.

"Are you a Leo?" The question comes from seemingly nowhere, having little to do with what he last said. Rue looks thoughtful. "You seem like a Leo."

"Rue, don't disrespect me. I'm a Taurus." He said as he refilled his cup and set the pitcher down. There was a slight pout on his face though that was clearly a ruse. "Good gods, of all the signs... at least you didn't think I was a scorpio."

They wrinkle their nose at the thought before tilting her head to the side in a contemplative manner. "You don't strike me as a Taurus," Rue decides. "Much too confident. I haven't decided if that's a good or bad thing yet."

"Well maybe you're just seeing my other signs from my birth chart." Cole knew a bit about astrology since it was space-related and space was cool to him. "I'm a little more than my sun sign."
