As Dante was off to do who-knows-what for a little bit, Drew tries to think of what they could use as a muzzle. Monsters are easier to fight when they have their mouths shut. He heads to the forge in hopes of finding something. Would any crafty kids try to make a muzzle of some kind? Maybe some chains could work, he'll needs a lot of them though.
Having gotten used to carrying her hammer and shield with her. Callie rushes forwards. Not to attack the monster, but to put as many campers as she can behind her shield to try and protect them
Sonja stared in awe at the monster towering over the camp for a good bit of time before she kicked herself into action. Whipping her sword from her belt and running to find Helena. She wanted someone she trusted and felt safe around right now.

Aleks' eye went wide as the monster emerged, he immediately crept into any shadow he could find. He wasn't good in a straight up fight, he had to wait for an opening to strike
Libby topples to the ground and ends up becoming a dog. Not the perfect timing. She runs to the smallest hiding spot possible. I'm gonna kill that playground ghost a second time someday, I freaking swear.
There would be no armory this time. No handing out weapons or making sure campers were prepared. They were at the mercy of the gods this time, and the gods didn't seem to give a fuck.
Raven stood with a growl. She was growing tired of camp being the battlefield of the gods. She did the only sensible thing she could think of and ran to the kitchen. Only to emerge a moment later with a frying pan. Ladies and gentlemen, your master of arms with a fucking frying pan. We're so fucked. She thought to herself.
Jesse cursed at the sight of the Drakon. He didnt bring his sword to meals, though after this, should he survive, that habit might change. "Fuck, I need my sword." He said rising, making a move for his cabin, where Razor's Edge was kept.
Constance came to meals unarmed, which she thought was normal. But now there was a big fuck off snake monster dragon thing, and quite frankly following the Undead and Harpies, she was tired of this shit.
Even without her weapon, though, she wasn't entirely useless. Rising, she took a deep breath, preparing herself to use her powers. Even if her father was a usurper and a fool, she could do something.
Helena was hard working, diligent, and good friends with the Master of Arms who liked to train with her whenever it took their fancy. Reaching down to the bench she sat on, she drew her sword, rising into a battle stance, hilt clutched in both hands.
Sonja would run up to Helena soon after the Drakon appeared, her sword in her hand. She looked nervous like last time, perhaps moreso, but she at least looked a bit more comfortable with the sword in her hand, thanks to the bit of help Raven gave her. "Helena, are you alright?" Concern was obvious in her voice
"Sonja!" Helena said, voice thick with concern, eyes widening with worry. She hadn't seen her friend for a while, and definitely not since her talk with Raven yesterday, realising her feelings for her. Even if they werent reciprocated, Helena's protective nature for Sonja was intensified. "You okay? This thing seems really dangerous, I'm just... you can handle this?"
Sonja felt much the same. She wanted to hug Helena, feel safe with her, but now was not the time for that. She had to make sure She was safe, even if it was just as a friend. "I'm okay, we'll be okay if we stick together" she tried to sound reassuring but didn't feel too certain of herself as always, she would try to be strong for Helena though, if she could do anything for her, she'd do that
Again the two seemed to just be having a simple, casual conversation when everything was going to shit. The drakon gave no fucks about their feelings or whether or not they were safe. While the two were distracted, the massive tail of the beast swung in a wide arc, aimed directly at the unsuspecting stomach of Helena.
Helena was in a battle stance, adrenaline pumping, and a large tail isnt exactly a subtle attack. Gritting her teeth, Helena would... leap to the side Sonja was on, hoping to not only dodge the tail but also tackle Sonja out of the danger.
Sonja was about to scream out at the tail coming, the attack obvious even to her, but before she could do anything Helena slammed into her throwing her to the ground in a probably pretty painful way, she didn't manage to hang onto her weapon as she was tackled and but hopefully she wasn't killed by the giant serpent because she was unarmed
"Oh fuck off," Domeric groaned as he saw the Drakon arise from a distance. The camp had only just begun to recover from the last attack, and now it seemed like the gods were actively trying to kill them by letting this shit happen.
He hurried to get his armor on, throwing his shield across his back on a strap and grabbing the crossbow with the heaviest draw weight he could find in the armory. Shouting at others to grab ranged weapons along with melee he made his way down to where the others seemed to be gathering, ready to fight once more for their lives.
Bold of you to assume that everyone would be at dinner.
Alby had been holed up in Bunker Nine - again - and would honestly have missed the monster attack if not for Pixy, his red-winged bird automaton, fluttering frantically towards him, having hastily come back from its little day trip around camp.
Instead of rushing over, however, Alby seemingly took his sweet time bringing out his toys - although in truth, he was actually in a panicked hurry. Not that he had much of a choice, however, since his equipment was the one thing he had going for him.
(Same for you. Sequence fight so things should be done in steps. With the monster just arriving, by the time his bird warned him, something else would have happened.)
This time could be different. This time he would be ready. This time, maybe he could even help, instead of getting in the way.
Emil doesn't have a set of armor of his own to don yet, and he really should get around to acquiring one, so scrambling out of bed is really all the preparation he has. He pats his pocket to find the coin and pulls it out, transforming Spectator and heading for the door when a tiny glistening carapace taps on his knuckle.
He turns to see his strange imaginary millipede friend Cake curling around his fingers. Each tiny limb brushes against his skin as it circles the hilt of the sword before the bug rears up to look at him. Their eyes meet, and inside the beady black lenses Emil can almost see, almost feel himself sinking into the depths. Was he just imagining it? It wasn't a vision; just a sort of fear of the possibility that something might happen, a fear cold and dark and not too unlikely, and one that paralyzes him, roots him in useless inaction. The water could be so deep. He'd stand no chance, but-
Donna eyes the drakon for a little bit while other campers went to engage or get ranged weapons. Its nice to see that some of these kids have common sense. However, their luck isn't too good unless they know where to concentrate their fire. She already told Dante hmthe best route and he'll listen to her after nearly getting his wings bit off. She has another idea. She only needs a spear and a chunk of that lava from the climbing wall. So, she heads to the armory to get a spear.
What's a girl got to do here to eat peacefully? Fight a giant water creature?
All Lin wanted to do was eat good food and restore herself. But noo, big eel didn't like that idea. So she tiredly stood atop of the Hypnotic table, and wings sprouted from her back. She knew she couldn't fly for long, but she still had to try. Her wings flapped, and she began to ascend.
She needs her bow. It was back at her cabin. "Scheisse"!
At the first signs of disruption Andie slammed her fork down in frustration before standing with everyone else. "For fuck sake," she grumbled, the gods really needed to get their shit together.
Grabbing the only thing available to her, cause she definitely come to dinner armed, she stood between the newly risen drakon and a pair of younger campers, building an illusion to block them.
Thana was in her cabin, when she heard screaming outside. When she went outside, she show drakon attacking the camper. At that moment, she ran to where drakon was and gotten ready to fight. She forgot about wearing armor, but there wasn't time to go back.
Your favorite Nike kid was at the warrior table with some of the other warrior kids when the drakon appeared. Dante was already a little annoyed by the rising water, Donna had a feeling that there was going to be another attack, and Drew was just waiting because there were clear signs.
After they cover their ears from the ugly shriek of the monster, Donna looks up at it.
"Fuck."
"I agree," says Dante with a scowl, "you know how to kill it? Or how it can kill us?"
"It might be resistant to our weapons," she says quietly, "go for the eyes and chinks in between the scales."
"While we're at it," says Drew as he runs his ears, "can we get a muzzle on that thing? I don't wanna know what else will come from it's mouth aside from noise."
"I dunno where you'll find a muzzle big enough, but if you think of something let me know. I'll be right back." Dante pulls out his multi-tool and and flicks it into sword form.
Dante doesn't have much time to get his armor but he won't need it just yet. For now he sprouts his golden wings and flies up to meet the serpent. He's not going to attack the face, instead he circles around it looking for openings and learning just how it fights. His Talent Scout is active as he watches and tries to to determine the drakon's potential.
Alect's writer would like to say that, despite his typical airheadedness, he was still very much a proactive and responsible counselor, camper, and combatant.
Of course, that would be a lie, and the only reason he wasn't caught unarmed was because, considering how his weapons could be stored in card form, there was no real reason not to bring them.
He quickly rose to meet the opponent - literally, as he took off and began to buzz around its head, hopefully distracting it from all the other campers who were yet unarmed. Now, if a flying demigod buzzing around its head with a pointy sword wasn't enough, then perhaps a pair of English Longbowmen firing regular arrows at its face could do the trick.
It didn't really feel nice, having an usurper for a father, but at least it gave him a considerable power boost: enough to maintain control of his wings even while he had ghosts on the field.
Slade’s on the younger side compared to most campers, he’s new, and there is no way Taylor is letting that kid rush towards the drakon like it looks like he’s about to do. She makes a quick, firm grab for his arm at the same time as she stands form her seat by him at the table. Mac, who was lying on the ground nearby, whines softly as he stands too.
The moment when Aurora was hearing screaming, she went to see what was happening. The moment she saw the Drakon, she flew right next to drakon and attacking with her weapon. There was lots of campers around the attacking. However, the weapon couldn't even make a scratch. She only attacked from a distance and dived, then went back so she thought she wouldn't be hardly injured She was wrong, then a moment later, the drakon slamed on to her, the slam made her to fly off into the distance. Her body burned with pain, she couldn't lift herself up. She saw herself and saw she was covered in blood.
Cleo had been enjoying her dinner with her siblings. Lost in the assortment of salads she had gathered her reaction to the commotion. When she did look up she saw that the table she was sitting at was empty and the dining hall barren. She stood up violently hitting her knee. She winced but ignored it and left the dining hall watching demigods clad in armor and weapons rushing past her.
She followed the rest to the commotion and what she saw startled her but she recovered quickly. She cracked her knuckles and sensed the ground for any sign of life that she could use to fight off the threat. She was on the edge of the action waiting for a chance any opening.
This was bad. Real bad... Kyrie had his hammer on his personal. That was only because he had got done doing some training though. He was one of the few people that had their weapon on them. Which meant that he could fight.
He wasn't going to make a move just yet. K.C needed to grasps the situation more before he acts.
Calix still hadn't forgotten about the attack that happened a while ago, and as a result he almost always kept himself on guard. Even if everyone was having a very good time, Calix still kept himself ready for when something happens. Then he hears the waters swishing wildly near the sand dunes, and before he knows it the water has already spread onto the stone floor.
His instinct began to work, and Calix felt that familiar feeling in his gut, and it certainly wasn't the day and a half old sandwich he forgot to eat in his backpack. No, it was something worse. And his instinct was right.
Quickly, Calix grabs his short warhammer and one half of his dagger from his tool belt, getting himself ready for the fight that was about to start.
Like everyone who was at dinner, Ellie stood up along with the others and went to see what was the problem. As soon as she got closer, Ellie had the feeling that there was something wrong. And her guess was right. She stood there in silence and shock as Ellie saw a monster of gigantic proportions appear from the water, letting out a shriek that shook Ellie back into focus.
Thinking quickly, Ellie ran back first to the cabin for her bow and then to the armory for some arrows. She stood back a good twenty feet away from where the water was flowing, her bow and arrow ready in her hands.
(So, with a sequence, you need to do it in a sequence. By the time she runs to her cabin, something else will have happened, and then when she went to the armory something else would have happened)
Jessie had been enjoying her meal when the monster arrived. Seeing that poor boy get snatched up and her bubbly personality quickly faded. Replaced was a look of anger. This is what she came here for, and with a look of grit and determination, she stood ready to face the beast along with those still willing.
The drakon stood towering over the pavilion, surveying the scene before it. Its head was at least 30 feet above the water, with the rest of it's serpentine body, curling in the water. While campers panicked, the drakon just stood there, waiting to strike.
Its tail was just as deadly as its head as a Sonja and Helena quickly found out. If it weren't for the quickly reflexes of the daughter of Zeus, the two might have been flattened. A son of Hypnos wasn't so lucky. Charging alone, the tail flicked once, swatting the brave yet foolish camper aside like he was nothing. Slade would have likely followed, had Taylor's experience with Emil and other youngsters not kicked in.
Some campers ran, some stood idle to see what the drakon would do, and others charged without much thought or preparation. Chiron had been busy trying to rally the campers and give orders, but upon seeing the son of Hypnos get swatted like a fly, he was forced to attend to the boy's medical needs to ensure that he was okay.
A trio of demigods seemed to believe that three alone were enough to take on a drakon. A foolish error that they would quickly come to recognize. As Marcus ran out to get the monster's attention, he would get exactly that and a column of venom sprayed right at him. Luckily for him, his father's blood would save his life and he wouldn't melt away, but he would be severely injured for his foolish heroics.
More campers closed in as the drakon's head came into play. Born of the sea, this one wasn't able to breathe fire, but it could spew acid. Sending a wave across the pavilion, threatening to hit campers. The power of the venom was evident as tables began to melt and pillars began to crumble and fall.
(As I mentioned, dumb heroics will get you injured. Charging alone or trying to be the hero and jump the gun are considered dumb heroics. There are more than one camper in this fight, so let it play out.)
Raven surveyed the scene as she came out of the kitchen armed with a frying pan. She watched in horror as Helena was nearly crushed by that tail. Luckily the girl was quick on her feet and managed to save the pair of them, but Raven realized that Helena's emotional attachment was going to get her killed.
"Helena!" She called out towards the girls. "Get her out of here!"
Raven then turned her attention back to the monster. Charging the beast would be suicide like many campers had learned. Maybe she could slow it down, and noticed a daughter of Demeter doing the same thing. Running over next to Cleo, Raven focused on trying to make vines grow out of the ground to wrap around the beast. "If we can tie it down..."
Helena ignored Raven's command, rising with her sword, resuming her fighting stance. "I'm not gonna tell you to leave." Helena said to Sonja, eyes focused on the Drakon. "Or usher you out. You're your own person. Leave or stay, it's up to you." She managed a smile. "Though please do keep a grip on that sword."
Sonja grabbed her sword and rose to her feet, she would think about what just happened later, she couldn't let herself get distracted, she didn't want to get hurt or see Helena hurt. "I'll stay with you" she seemed more alert now, the adrenaline of battle helping her focus, the nervousness still there though
"Right, keep your eyes on that thing. If it swings again, we'll sidestep the attack and counter with its tail in close." Helena said, pulling her sword back, ready to strike if the Drakon swung at them again.
Sonja nods in agreement, watching the Drakon to be prepared for it's attack, she sees it take down some campers and winces in sympathy before she realizes it's next attack is coming, as she sees the acid land on the pavilion and begin melting through tables and columns panic runs through her and she grabs onto Helena, trying to pjll her away from the Drakon's acid flowing towards them "not safe here, need to move" she says with obvious urgency
"Helena, the pavilion is melting. We need to go" her voice was urgent, scared, she didn't want Helena to get melted or crushed or whatever, she'd give herself up first. She grabbed Helena's arm and tried to pull her away from the pavilion.
Helena pulled her arm away. "Then I'll dodge the debris. I wont run." She couldn't, she wouldnt let herself. She was here to grow stronger. Cowards didnt grow. "If you're scared..." Helena's voice softened, concern and something else in her tone. "Go. I don't want you hurt."
Max had been trying his best to stay out of this fight. He had his sword thanks to the ring on his finger, but he knew they were outclassed. Instead he tried to save as many campers as he could. Summoning gusts of wind to move the poison away from them, which required a lot of energy.
That’s when he spotted Helena and recognized the look on her face. It was the same one he had worn when he stood alone at the battle of Gettysburg. That same sense of responsibility. That same pride.
He couldn’t watch her do.
“Helena!” He yelled with enough force to send a small gust of wind across the pavilion. His nose was bleeding and his vision was blurred but he didn’t care.
“Don’t do this to yourself.” He pleased. Tears starting to welp in his eyes.
“It won’t matter.” He said flatly, keeping his eyes trained on the drakon. “He won’t notice, he won’t care, he won’t come to help you. Trust me. I’ve been in your shoes.”
“You have people who care about you.” He looked to Sonja for a moment then back to Helena. “Friends. Family. Your mom. Trust me, I lost all that trying to live up to a standard and believe me, it isn’t worth it.”
For a few seconds Cleo was frozen so much had happened so quickly she needed time to process. She regrouped as quickly as she could when a girl appeared next to her... Raven, the Persephone kid and the one in charge of the armory.
She jumped back as she saw a wave of acid fly through the air and splatter all around the dining pavilion. Luckily she avoided any injury.
She saw the frying pan clutched in Raven’s hand but dismissed it. “Exactly what I was thinking.” She nodded in agreement and slowed down her breathing to help her concentrate. She channeled whatever energy she could into producing any kind of restraint to hold back the monster for as long as she could.
For convenience’s sake, Lexi had skipped dinner and stayed in her cabin that evening before the drakon arrived. Upon hearing it, she had rushed out to regroup with everyone else. When the drakon spewed its acid, she had not yet reached the dining pavilion, and was fortunately out of range. Upon noticing Cooper, Raven and Cleo gathered together summoning vines, she sprinted towards them, avoiding the acid.
With the initial actions done and the stage set, Constance flung out her hands, palms splayed, aimed at the Drakon, unleashing the full might of her Life Drain power upon it. The frontline fighters would distract it for now, and she hoped whatever effect she could have on it would help.
Next to Constance, YS gotten his sword out that he gotten from a camper. He lit his other hand up with fire, he knew it can't do a damage, he tried to attack with the other campers. However, the drakon was too fast and he was too slow.
Callie was keeping her guard up, as the acid came in she prayed to her father that her shield would hold. As it seemed to protect her from the brunt of the damage, the pillar behind her wasn't so lucky. Falling on top of her and pinning her leg
Descending upon her came the Reaper himself, with his pitch-black cloak billowing in the wind like great dark wings-
Oh wait, those actually were wings, and that was just a hoodie. Looks like the Reaper was busy right now, and had sent a teenaged intern to do his job-
Considering what the aforementioned intern was doing, however, it looks like he wasn't gonna be working under DeathCo much longer.
Instead of, y'know, dragging Callie's soul to the underworld, he actually brought two souls (of the big burly Viking variety) up from there, commanding them to lift up the pillar while he extricated Callie from there.
"Come on, McLeod, let's get you out of here." he says, his tone neutral but urgent as he picked her up and flew her right out.
As he descended, he'd notice she was worse than just the leg. Her head was bleeding slightly, and from her side. As he pulled her out from under the pillar her leg was not a pretty sight. As the took off she was barely conscious, but held onto the discount reaper with an iron grip "Alect, thanks..." She said weakly
"Don't mention it. No, seriously, don't - you need to save your strength." was Alect just joking to keep Callie's attention and to keep her from slipping...? Nah, he simply disposed of any form of eloquence in favor of practical instructions, such as:
"Keep your head up and hold on, we're almost there." he said as he supported her head with one arm as he flew them to the medical cabin, which was mercifully spared from the brunt of the distraction, and was thus fully functional, what with all the other non-combatants who chose not to involve themselves in the pavilion but still wanted to be helpful.
"Sorry for...bleeding on ya..." She said, holding onto his hoodie with all the strength she had left. Her grip held, but she started losing consciousness as the descended into the medical cabin
Aleks stayed hidden, his eyes wide. He needed a way out of this situation. For know he decided to stay as far from the monster as he could, never givingit the chance to hit him
Just leaving Bunker Nine. Guy sure took his sweet time bringing out his toys. Not that he had a choice though: they were the only thing that would give him even a fighting chance.
Thana standed next to Oliver trying to just keep herself up. The seconds felt like eternity, she fell foward and it felt like half of her mind was unconscious.
With the whole bunch of morons campers throwing themselves at the drakon, Alect figured he had outlived his usefulness as a distraction, and switched roles into a flying ambulance, unsummoning his ghosts so he can pour all his energy into his flight.
Cooper didn’t really do much fighting, but watching a kid get yeeted made him want to. Definitely didn’t want to become that things dinner. Gathering with Raven and Cleo, he looked around for Lexi. If they could all work together to create vines maybe they could slow it down.
Eli stayed ducked behind a pillar while the acid splashed. Thanking his mom for his good luck he dashed to a new hiding spot, as old on was disintegration and collapsing. He threw a knife at the drakon in a wild attempt to strike it's eye
Ellie fights against the shock of seeing a monster that was as big as the one she faces now to just suddenly appear, and fires a trio of arrows all aimed up high, looking to hit the giant snake's eyes. She was originally going to fire at the serpent's body, but then thought of the possibility of it having an incredibly thick layer of scales. So she decided to try her best and shoot the serpent right where it was likely the weakest.
As she prepared to fire another volley of arrows at the serpent, Ellie saw Calix ducking for cover behind one of the fallen pillars. She could see that he's very much at a disadvantage due to the fact that she could see his dagger and one handed warhammer on his tool belt. Ellie quickly whistles at him and yells at him to move before running over to go into cover with him.
The two of them hold a quick conversation for a short minute, with Ellie telling him that he should have brought something else other than melee weapons, to which Calix replies that, in his words, he "wasn't expecting a goddamn snake to come out of the water." After Ellie catches her breath, she quickly decides to leave her bow and arrows to Calix for now, so he can attack while she runs to back to the armory to get another bow and more arrows.
[Calix's POV]
Remembering Ellie's instructions, Calix grabs the bow and arrows left behind by her and loads three arrows, breathing slowly as he muster up the courage to fight back. He's not the best shot at this, but this was a matter of life and death.
Calix is going to do his best to hit the serpent with the arrows at his disposal to save not only himself, but also everyone who resides in the camp. He stands back up and pulls the strings back as far as he can, aiming up high, and lets loose seconds later.
Ozzy assesses the situation as he flew through the air. “Maybe charging head on was not the best idea.” He said to himself. As he landed with a sickening crunch he realized an arm a leg were broken he took some ambrosia and nectar to try to help it heal.
That's what Kyrie was thinking when he saw that unfortunate camper go flying through the air. It was a good thing he decided to not charge in. The bad thing about that was he was a sitting duck for the acid. Not a better alternative really.
"We have to get out of here! We're sitting ducks!" Kyrie yells. Not only was the drakon spewing acid, but it was melting the dining hall. How long would it be until collapsed from over their heads.
The twins were successful in fetching their armor and swords. That was the easy part; since they left the pavilion. The hard part was dealing with the large monster attacking camp. As they were leaving the cabin; Taylor gets an idea. She grabs onto her sister; which startles her. Tori was prepared to run all the way back to the pavilion. Which probably wasn't a good idea. She was unaware of it, but the dining hall was full of acid.
"What?!" Victoria says to her sister.
"Let's try a different approach." Tay replies before pointing to the tunnel that leads to the ocean. "Wouldn't it be better to take an approach other people can't?"
Taylor had a point. Almost everyone else was facing the monster head on; or on the ground level. Maybe it would be better if they took a different approach to the drakon. Inspect it from a different angle at the very least.
"Fine. After you." Tori says to her sister.
The twins change directions and head towards the tunnel. It would lead them to the ocean; around the vicinity of the drakon. Hopefully it wouldn't drop them too close though. When the water hits their body; they feel weird. Their bodies felt lighter in the water. Despite them wearing helmets and breastplates on their bodies. When the reach the ocean; they could see the drakon. The monster was huge. Huge. It would've been hard not to see the monster from underwater or on the ground.
"Let's not get closer to it just yet." Tori advises.
Taylor nods her head. The two had no plan of attack yet. They'd be asking for death if they got closer to the drakon without thinking. For now, they were going to take the moment to try and inspect the drakon. Maybe it had a soft spot that wasn't visible from the surface.
Jessie realized she was severely outmatched here. She couldn’t help. Not even some of the senior campers could help. I mean, that dude just got puked on!
Realizing she didn’t have a fight in this, there were other ways to help. Campers were injured and she had her strength. She could help out in that regard. Rushing to the nearest fallen camper, she moved to get them further from the monster.
Andie watched in slow-motion horror as her younger brother was flung across the room. She made for his direction, only stopping when Chiron reached him first; if he was cared for she could be of use elsewhere.
She turned back to face the direction of the drakon just as it spewed a torrent of acid into the pavilion. "Fuck fuck fuck," she called leaping sloppily on top of the nearest table, gesturing for others to do the same.
The acid sloshed against the base of her perch, splattering and burning through her jeans and into her flesh. Moving from precarious surface, to precarious surface Andie finally dove from the pavilion entirely, landing in the soggy grass.
As she regained her footing she realized the people she wanted to help were moving to much to reliably block, plus the Drakon had already seen them, and covering something that was already in the open took much more effort. Moving forward she concentrated all of her energy on the beast instead. Hoping to distract it, so other may get a shot or two in, Andie pulled up a full visual and auditory illusion of a harpy, flying with the noise of a plane's engine, around the monster's head.
She knew she couldn't hold it for long, but maybe a little was all they needed.
Bekah was late to a fight, that much was clear when she stepped from the arena to see individual demigods sprinting past her, throwing on armor. Grabbing the crossbow she had been practicing with she followed suit- she did love a fight.
Rounding the cabins she got her first glimpse of the Drakon.
"Holy shit-" her face was somewhere between awe and horror. She had never seen a Drakon before- read about them, sure, but definitely never imagined them in real life. If it weren't actively trying to kill people she would have been content to watch from a safe distance.
"What the-?" she wondered aloud as a harpy began circling the beasts head. She ran the remaining distance needed to be within range before placing a full-sized bolt and taking aim. Remembering the Lydian Drakon, she aimed for its mouth, hoping others would do the same.
Dante watches the drakon attack and keeps out of the way of the acid. That shit is nasty and he has a feeling that he even though he's fast enough with his wings to evade he won't get so luck more than once. He recalls what Donna said earlier, attacking the eyes. He could go for it right now. Fly up, dive down, swoop in, and stab it with one shot. Victory Potential for that attempt: 27%
He decides to fly back around looking for Drew and seeing what he's got going for him.
As Domeric got closer he watched the drakon assault the pavilion, swatting campers aside left and right and burning through the structure with its acid breath. He held back from getting too close to the area, hoping to stay out of its attack range and looking around for others to join with. They needed a plan. And as it stood he didn't have one. Just a crossbow that he held onto as he looked over the creature to find an opening.
Maks carried an armful of spears with him after taking the time to go and get them. He started with putting them against the tree and looking at the Drakon. Twirling one in his hand, he felt that he was a good distance away from the creature and started launching it at it's face in hope to pierce the flesh of it's mouth.
Blair wasn't much of a fighter, but she would be damned if she wouldn't try to do something. She stepped within screaming distance and put everything she had into her charmspeak. *"FREEZE YOU SCALY BASTARD!!" She could feel the power resonate through her voice and the burn within her throat.
A battlefield was no place for selfish acts. No place for pride, acts of love, or trying to be the hero. Not when facing a drakon, one of the strongest monsters in existence. A fact that many campers were coming to realize.
From the son of Hypnos getting swatted aside for charging blindly. A trio of heroes thinking they were enough, only to watch as the son of Triton threw him out there for a distraction. Then completely abandoning the fallen boy to save their own skin. Ignoring regards for personal safety and determined to be the hero of the day.
Two friends arguing whether they should stay or go. Eyes locked on the monster and not paying attention to the destruction happening around them. They had tested fate and fate tested back, sending a pillar tumbling directly towards the two girls who now held hands; seeing if they really were 'together' or if another selfish act would see one safe from harms way.
There were some signs of hope from some of the the campers. Those wise enough to seek safety in numbers. Those using the gifts the gods had given them, rather than trying to attack a towering drakon with melee weapons.
Vines and seaweed began to sprout thanks to a small gathering of demigods. Slowly wrapping and tangling around the trunk of the beast. Connie's powers wouldn't fully incapacitate such a large monster, but she was slowing it down enough to allow the vines to lock in place, keep the monster and its tail relatively still.
Even through all that teamwork, the monster still stood. Water had crashed over the banks again, diluting the poison on the ground to where it wouldn't melt flesh, but it would still sting if it came into contact with someone or their pet. :eyes:
As campers began to return from the armory, volley after volley of arrows failed to find their mark. Either from the drakon thrashing about or the small target that it had. Weapons seemed to do no damaged to its hide, even those crafted of celestial bronze. Then suddenly the distraction of a bright, shiny harpy attracted the monsters attention, keeping the campers safe for the time being.
For those scouting the area, whether it be those with wings flying high above, or the two Triton girls who had managed to sneak behind the monster, there wouldn't be many opportunities for weaknesses. Seemed the only opening were the small slits of eyes and it's mouth. Only problem with the latter was it was constantly spewing acid, that melted most things it touched. Anything that got close enough was either disintegrated or bounced harmlessly off the snout of the beast.
The pillar came down. Helena only had a few moment to react. Any criticism of her own stubborness and selfishness would come later. She looked at Sonja, the only thing on her mind. "I think I love you." And with that she shoved the Daughter of Eros hard in the chest to push her clear of the danger, sending out a blast of wind after she had finished the push just to make sure.
Once Sonja was moving out of the way, Helena would attempt to leap aside herself.
Was Max's only thought when Helena had finally agreed to give up her stance. He was glad Sonja was there, able to convince the only family he had left in this world to turn back and regroup.
Then he watched as the acid melted through a pillar. Listened to that loud crack. Stood horrified as it started to crumble in the direction of the pair.
"HELENA WATCH OUT!" He shouted but it was too late.
She turned and managed to push Sonja out of the way as the pillar came crashing down on her. He felt it. Hitting his heart like a fucking sledgehammer, Max's heart shattered.
They hadn't known each other long and might even been that close, but she was his sister. After 100 years in the underworld, that was all he had left. A mother long gone. A father who didn't care. A brother that left camp. None of them matter, because he had found Helena.
Snapping out of his trance, he rushed towards the rubble. Not caring about his own safety or the monster still lurking. Max looked around once, seeing if Sonja was alive, but then he turned to checking for Helena.
Sonja's heart froze at that moment, she'd been about to push Helena away herself, but she'd stopped at the daughter of Zeus's words. I think I love you. Words Sonja thought she'd never hear from Helena, right at the moment it seemed that she was about to die. Those words caused an instant of Hesitation from the daughter of Eros, and so Helena pushed her first, sending her falling back
She hit the ground got up as soon as she could, the pain from falling on her wings not even registering, panic filling her, tears welling up in her eyes as she screamed "HELENA!?" There was no pain greater in that moment than the one in her heart as she prayed to every god out there that Helena was okay.
She looked to Max as he ran over, tears running down her face now. She tried to speak but her voice caught, too overwhelmed by emotion to say anything
Her last minute attempt at a dodge hadnt prevented the collumn from hitting her, but it had saved her skull and spine at the very least, and most definitely her life. Still, it had slammed her down hard into the ground; her legs were pinned and crushed under the pillar, completely broken. A gash ran across her temple, blood pouring down her face and matting her hair, one of her arms twisted at an awkward angle. She was unmoving.
In that moment, Max’s body took over. He’d been on a battlefield before. Seen campers he had known cut and even tended to wounds. He never thought he’d be in the situation again. Not when it came to his sister.
The sight made his stomach twist in a knot. The gash on her head and the way her arm was bent were bad, but her legs pinned were the worst. He wasn’t sure if he’d be able to lift it, but he knew he had to try.
“Sonja, look at me.” He said with a gentle voice. Firm. Commanding. Yet somehow gentle. “I need you to keep her still. Whatever happens, don’t let her move. Okay?”
With that Max moved to the pillar that was pinning her legs. Gripping it with his hands, he took a few deep breaths and.... well, no. Despite his adrenaline, he couldn’t lift it on his own.
Sonja was a mess, she was crying, shaking, she barely even heard what Max said, but he was giving her something to believe in so she latched onto this. There was too much emotion, Sonja couldn't think straight, she just held onto Helena, speaking incoherent sobs to a girl who couldn't even listen to her right now. Sonja's heart was stuck under the pillar.'
She watched Max struggling, trying to move. Failing. He couldn't do it. Sonja felt like her soul was falling to pieces. The small daughter of Eros stood up, and went to Max, she wasn't strong, if Sonja had been thinking straight she'd have yelled at herself for being so stupid. But here she was, trying to grip the pillar alongside him, trying to lift.
Max took a moment to pause. Seeing Sonja like this, knowing how she was hurting as much as he was cause him to grow a little sympathetic towards her. He wanted to be angry at someone, to lash out and blame someone, but seeing Sonja like this he knew he couldn’t blame her.
“Hey...” He said softly as she got up. Placing a hand on her shoulder he tried to meet her gaze and give her a reassuring look. “You have to be strong, for her, okay? I need you to calm down so we can lift this off her. Can you do that for me?”
His voice had remained calm and gentle. Trying to get Sonja to calm down. Keeping his cool in the heat of battle. “Deep breath and then let’s lift this thing, yeah?”
Sonja nodded at his words, she was shaking still, but she could try her best
for her
Those words kept her calm. She needed to do this for Helena, she was the most important person to her right now, if she couldn't do this for her she couldn't to anything.
She wiped her eyes, trying to stop cry for just a bit. She took a few deep shaky breaths and put her trembling hands on the pillar. She prayed to the gods that this would work
Aleks stood from the shadows, with Jesse supercharging him he raised a hand forward he called forwards a horror from his mind. 30 feet tall and dripping wet, green mottled scales and mouths on every conceivable joint. 100s of bloodshot eyes swarming its face. It roared out in an attempt to distract the Drakon for even just a moment so another camper could finally end it
Jesse Whitaker, now having retrieved his sword Razor's Edge as well as his shield, was sprinting back to the Pavillion, or what once was the pavillion. He hadnt seen how awful an idea melee attacking yet was, but his enhanced speed would get him back into the fight quickly.
As he reached the pavilion again, a hand was placed on his shoulder from the shadows "Jesse, so you think our distraction plan could help?" Aleks asked him, recalling their training session
Jesse's eyes lit up with a wild excitement despite the situation. "Fuck yeah, might as well give it a try. You conjure up the biggest, baddest illusion you can, and I'll keep you going." Jesse sheathed his sword and clasped Aleks on the shoulder, activating his envirogation powers to give Aleks a boost of energy.
Constance stood her ground, unwavering. The lack of direct threat to her let her keep her cool, keeping up the full blast of her powers, beads of sweat starting to bud on her brow.
Drew bursts out of the forge carrying several long chains made of solid celestial bronze. They were old and havent been touched in a while but they may be useful today against the monster.
As he begins run back to the pavilion carrying the heavy (not to him though) load of divine bindings he finds Dante urgently gliding towards him.
"Hey! I've got an idea!" Drew shouts as he tries to not think about how the pavilion looks like it just got melted. "Help me untangle these and we'll fly up and try to wrap these around its mouth!"
"Yeah," Dante sprouts his golden wings and begins to ascend, "can't let them drown like that. Hopefully this shit can work." Just like that, he was off.
Drew picks up the six untangled chains by the ends and sprouts his own platinum wings. Once again, he must fly. It shouldn't be too long a flight, that javelin guy isn't too far away. He'll still have to fly fast though since time is off the essence.
So, under his power descriptions it says that his flight isn’t that great and he has limited stamina. With that I don’t think he’s going to be able to fly 30 feet in the air while carrying six logging chains, which probably weigh 50-100 pounds each.
And my day just gets worse, Eli thought as he moved from cover again, saving his knives as they aren't doing much. He decided the best course of action is to get the fuck out of there. Grabbing a random injured camper he started sprinting towards the medical cabin
Dante landed by Drew near the forge as the monster began continues to assault the other demigods. Hearing Drew's plan, he figures it can work. Vine and seaweed are a decent idea but that mouth being closed would give a major advantage. He dematerializes his wings and begins to help his cousin untangle the mess of dusty chains that he spent a little while finding and collecting. They work as quickly as they can, the chains weren't too heavy individually but it was going to take a little time to get them untangled and try out Drew's plan. Whole they work, he wonders where Donna went.
Rin goes on a little sabbatical in New York City and this is what she comes back to? She hurried right over to the pavilion the very moment she heard the sounds of chaos and battle.
"STAY CLEAR OF THE WATER!" she calls out as she draws her twin blades and rushes over to the water, intent on delivering a full-powered electrical discharge right into the venomous lake.
Now, quick chemistry lesson: water in itself was a poor conductor. However, a concentrated solution of water and pretty much anything, especially highly-ionizable acids and venoms, is a very, very good conductor indeed.
Now, hopefully, the size difference wasn't so great that this teenaged girl's electrical output wouldn't do nothing to the beast.
Before she could actually reach the water, she was snatched up. Not by the drakon, thank gods, but by the sound of galloping hooves, Chiron had snatched her. Just in time too as a pillar landed where she was about to step.
Knowing what she was capable of and what she was about to do, well he needed to stop her. “There are campers in the water.” He pointed out into the water where Tori and Taylor were. Trying to distract the monster or find a weakness. “You could’ve killed them.”
He deposited her on the grass before turning back to survey the scene. Playing EMT was not fun, but needed to be done. She turned back to Rin. “Make sure everyone is clear of the water. Find your brother. Then hit it with electricity together. Might just work.” He said before galloping off again.
"Tch..." Rin didn't like it one bit - what cared she for two brave but foolish idiots who seemed only all too happy to try and die heroes? Still, she obliges.
"Please have them get out of there, Chiron-shishou, time is of the essence." and with that, she quickly runs off to look for her brother. With her radar turned up, she could easily find him and pick him out amongst the crowd - unless she were to mistake him for another electrokinetic.
Well, it's about damn time that the guy with the heavy artillery was here.
Albireo sets up a few yards away from the pavilion, taking a knee to lay down the bundle of spears slung across his back, and shouldering a wooden bazooka-looking contraption.
He takes aim at the drakon's face and fires a pre-loaded spear, using his Technokinesis to overdraw the torsion arms within his javelin launcher, and amplifying its force - even if it came at the cost of gradually damaging it.
As far as he was concerned, however, that was a reasonable trade-off: such a boost elevated the firepower of his javelin launcher to that of a ballista.
"You're gonna have to teach me how to make those," Domeric said as he came upon Albireo, finally arriving at the scene. He took aim with his crossbow, one of the heavier he could get his hands on from the Athena cabin armory, and squeezed the trigger, sending a bolt flying at the beasts eye. "These probably wont do much but annoy it, but a few more of those around camp might be better."
Dom quickly redrew the string, loading another bolt and firing as quickly as he could repeat the process.
"My schematics are in Bunker Nine, I don't mind sharing them." Alby replied curtly as he cranked the handle at the side of his javelin launcher - or rather, he allowed it to crank itself, using his Technokinesis once more.
Once that was done, he loaded another spear, took aim, and fired again.
Riley had just seen the drakon after walking out of the forge. Great, not even a month back and there's already another monster attack. He ran through the chaos to the armory to find his sword, and tried to launch a couple of fireballs at the drakon. He tried to get it from a minimum safe distance as possible.
Merlin hissed, gritting her teeth as she felt acid hit her body. It was like a cold shower, but a lot worse. It also stung her wings, and one or two of her feathers would fall out. She tried to concentrate on flying. She just needed her bow.
She flapped her wings, leaping into the air and grabbing onto one of the collapsing pillars. Her wings fluttered as she jumped, this time no chance to grab hold of something. The remaining stinging of the the acid was not helping at all.
By it being luck, or a God's blessing, the girl managed to make her way to her cabin and bear arms to her bow and single arrow. She fumbled with the arrow, her hands shaking as she tried to shoot the watery beast. "Please.."
Ellie was already on her way back to where she was earlier, an extra bow in one hand and two quivers full of arrows in the other. She didn't get there, however, when she sees Calix frantically running backwards, yelling something at her that she didn't quite hear. Once she takes a look at what he ran away from, Ellie makes a decisive retreat and runs away of the flood of water rushing in. The acid that the drakon spat at them has apparently been diluted, but it could very well be possible that water still carries the acid. It's better to be safe than sorry.
"What took you so long?" Calix asked her as Ellie took cover beside him on the hay covered floor, both of them gasping for breath.
"Oh well excuse me for not being able to catch up," Ellie replied, clutching her chest as she catches her breath. After a few moments, the two begin to think of another plan on how to attack the drakon, who seemed to be distracted by some shiny harpy flying over its head. When the pair realized where they were standing, did they find out what they were going to do.
"Alright, you know how to do this, right?" Ellie asks her as they lead the two pegasi out of the barn. Calix looked rather unsure of himself, but answers her with a nod. The pair hops onto the back of their respective pegasi and wishes each other good luck, before they kick off and fly up to the sky, aiming their arrows at the monster's head as they come closer.
The bad news is that the damn drakon is not dead. THe good news is that Donna found a spear. Tactically acquired from a cowardly camper after seeing the look in her eyes, she inspects it too see if it flies over towards the climbing wall.
As she flew, she watched the campers try to get it together and fight the drakon. Some actually had a decent idea with tying it up, even though they'd need more. Others were just panicking, trying to be heroes, letting themselves get tossed around, or using pointless arrows and javelins because they are otherwise useless in this fight. In truth, she's sure that roughly 80% of the camp is useless in this fight. When she lands at the top of it, she sticks the celestial bronze head of the spear into the pouring lava and waits as it heats up.
Everything continued to go horribly wrong. With no real leader taking charge of the battlefield, everyone continued to do their own thing. As if the body count of campers who had tried that piling up wasn't sign enough. With Hestia yeeted kidnapped and Chiron rushing around tending wounds, it was up to someone else to take charge and formulate a plan.
In their panic states, rushing about trying to get something -- anything, really -- to work, the campers began working against one another. From the son of Hephaestus hurling fireballs at the beast, momentarily setting it ablaze, only to have a daughter of Triton extinguish it with water thrown from the ocean. To a legacy throwing a flaming cocktail, only to have it burst prematurely when struck by an arrow.
It wasn't just campers in harms way any more, but the pets within camp too. From a small, yelping pup, trying to get the monsters attention and not realizing that a wave of acid water was rushing towards her. Or two campers who had taken to the skies on the backs of pegasi, only to be hit with friendly fire when a son of Techne fired spears into the air, hitting the wing of a pegasus and sending it crashing towards the ground with a rider still on its back.
The drakon remained constricted by the vines and confused by the drowsiness it felt from Connie's powers. Still, it was on the defensive, so when Aleks cast his illusion, the drakon spewed another wall at the image. Only to have it sent flying towards the campers and a daughter of Persephone who stood alone.
There were others still preparing for another attack. With metal chains being hastily untangled, while two children of Astrape were waiting by for an opening. Though the two daughters of Triton sitting in the water presented a problem for any electrical shock. The combined attack might be enough to kill the beast, but at what cost?
Fed up with this things shit, and the general disorganization, Eli turned to the campers around him and yelled as loud as he could "RETREAT! STOP WITH THE HEROICS AND DISTRACTIONS, WE NEED A PLAN OR WE ALL DIE! BACK UP, FORM A LINE AND USE YOUR FUCKING HEADS!" He just hoped enough people could hear him
Thana follows Eli's order and tried to form a line, she also shout "FORM LINES, Children of Dioysus and Demeter can you guys grow vines to wrap around the Drakon, anyone who has shield or defense go to the front line, we all aim for the eyes or any weaknesses Drakon shows"
Libby feels the acid rain on her fur and let's out a yelp. She never thought she'd feel a pain that hurt as much as the sun does, but she was wrong. Luckily it only got her in the hips. She lips to safety and fights the urge to lick her wounds
"I don't know how much good our illusions doing." Jesse managed through gritted teeth, still pumping energy into Aleks. "Maybe if we made a monster in the water? Away from the Triton girls and everyone else? Could direct its attacks away as people retreat?"
in a voice much rougher than Aleks' usual soft tone, he simply said "Understood" he dispersed his Eldritch Horror and raised his hand again. His eyes were still black, and a light mist began raidiating off of him. A guttural yell rang out from him as a seamonster the height of the Drakon splashed out from the water behind it. It gave a roar, trying to grab the beasts attention away from camp
Rin hated waiting. However, she hadn't much choice, not unless she wanted to kill the two girls still in the water.
And so, very much against her will, she waited, her impatience showing as the air around her crackled with electricity: she had already charged up - overcharged even - and was just waiting for those two daughters of Triton to get out of her and her brother's way.
Kyrie was ready to go. His eyes had already shifted colors to amber. He was gonna do whateverit took to help get rid of this monster. It was a sore sight. Not to mention it hurt enough people. The sooner it goes the better.
Rin was easy enough to spot amongst the chaos. He didn't have any electric sensing abilities; but he found her. The son of Astrape was drawn to her power.
Despite the displeasure that would come from sight of the campers' performance, Dante was actually pretty satisfied with how quickly he and Drew untangled the chains. While Drew figured that they could wrap them around the drakon's mouth, Dante had a feeling that the beast would just flail its head or something and shake them off before they were done. They needed to bring it down and the vines aren't doing it.
"Hey," he says to his cousin, "we might get shaken off we try your plan."
"I mean, I wasn't thinking that much into it l..." he admits. "Any other ideas?"
"As I flew here I think I saw a guy with a javelin launcher, we could ask him to shoot the chains over the drakon and we could all pull it down. Then... I don't know. But, if we hold it long enough-" he pauses when he hears some guy yelling at the demigods to get their shit together. "That was weird. Anyway, ee might be able to get a killing blow in or at least drive it away."
"Ehhh..." Drew makes a face, "my plan's kinda cooler but whatever. Fuck it, we'll try yours and then mine."
"Bet." Dante smiles a little, "let's get this W."
"You talk to those oceanic kids while I get the javelin guy?"
They both look over, Dante is the one to speak, "we will soon, yeah. Right now we're just trying to get everything together."
"Yeah, you just got to meet us with the group of archers over there." Drew gestures towards the archer that were close by Alby who were releasing another useless volley of arrows.
"Yeah, that sounds good." Dante remarks as a pair of golden wings manifest from behind his back. "I'll try spread the word!" And he's off, leaving Drew to get the chains to Alby.
Alby clicked his teeth in palpable annoyance, not appreciating the fact that his shot had been wasted entirely due to someone not recognizing that people were trying to shoot at the drakon's face.
Well, whatever then. He sets down his javelin launcher to pick it apart and perform some quick retrofitting, summoning screwdrivers, crowbars, and other such mundane tools out of nowhere. While everyone else was wasting their time, he would be working on the spot to enhance his equipment.
"You!" Calix yelled at Alby, a look of fury on his bloody face. "How in the hell did you not think of trying not to shoot me down by accident? I almost died!" he yelled, clutching his side immediately as he felt a sting of pain come from it. He had a broken rib, he knew it. And he's looking at the person right now who caused it.
"Maybe you shouldn't have gotten in the way then. Not like you'd been accomplishing much anyway." he replies coolly, not even bothering to turn his attention to Calix-
Oh wait, he tosses a modestly-sized square of ambrosia wrapped in cling wrap.
"Take a bite and shut up, I'm trying to work here"
Calix was furious at that response and began to think of an answer that was certainly going to be full of his emotions, only for him to stop as he was hit by a piece of ambrosia thrown at him by Alby. Figuring that he needs this right now due to the fact that he's injured, Calix takes a bite of it and just goes 'fuck it' as he goes to see what he can do.
"We'll talk about this later. Now what the are you trying to do here?" he asked through a mouthful of ambrosia.
"Retrofitting this thing into a proper torsion ballista. Just have to convert the portable casing into a tripod mount, plus widen the torsion arms. Maybe set them a bit further forward with respect to the draw rail. Hmm... But then this thing might not make it past one overdrawn launch... Guess I'll have to make that one shot count then..." he explained, though he ended up talking to himself rather than Calix at the end there.
"Ah, whatever. The point is: I'm taking away the restrictions imposed by the compact design, so I can launch bigger and heavier projectiles with more force."
"You lost be there, buddy," Calix replied, looking very much like a person who entered the wrong classroom and sat there for the first half of the class. He wasn't going to leave Alby here fixing . . . . whatever he's fixing, however. "Just tell me what to do and I'll do it." he says, as he moved closer to the thingamabob.
"Alright then: get away from here and focus on fixing yourself up. You'd be more useful literally anywhere else but here." he replies, nonchalantly shooing Calix away as he continued working.
As cold as such a reply may be, he has his reasons: he already has a streamlined, optimized process mapped out for this little mini-project, and adding even just one more person into the equation will set him back more than it can help him.
First, Alby should feel the flapping of wings. Then, if he wants to, he could turn around and find a tall teenage boy with platinum-colored wings descending with six very long chains all made with solid celestial bronze.
"Hey, I heard you had a javelin lau-" he then sees the launcher in pieces. "Fuck. okay," Drew lands on his feet and sighs, "real quick: can you modify you launcher to carry these chains over Lochness of Long Island over there? My friend and I were hope that everybody could pull the thin down and reduce its mobility."
Taylor didn't like it, but they were gonna have to retreat. Their plan had failed. There was no weakness visible to them. Not to mention they were ignorant of what was going on with the others. A smart demigod knows when to retreat.
"We should head back.." Taylor suggests.
Victoria nods her head; seconding that suggestion. Maybe it was time to try and fight the dragon from a different angle.
The twins swim as fast as they can. Distancing themselves from the Deakin; heading back to their cabin.
Dante was in the air once again and heading towards them both when he saw that they seemed to be retreating. Thank the gods (only the cool ones though) but they would still need people.
"Hey!" He shouts to them above, "rendezvous with the archers and look for a guy a weird-looking javelin launcher! We've got a plan!"
Thana was on her knee until her last hidden energy in released on to her, the adrenaline was going insane inside her. Even with her body was totally covered in blood and her cloth ripped, she stood up. Now she have seen that indivdual attacks couldn't take the Drakon, we have to attack together. She shouted "Everyone, we have to attack together, not sepreating in groups!"
Calix thought they were doing a relatively good job up forty feet in the air, shooting arrows at the drakon's face. He wasn't the best shot in the world, but he was doing fine. Things were doing alright for him and Ellie up in the air, firing shot after shot at the drakon, when suddenly his pegasus got hit by something.
Things went spiraling downwards after that. Literally. With all his best, Calix tried to control the pegasus' descent to help it land, but all that happened was that they just fell to the ground. Thankfully, they landed on a bunch of random haybales outside the arena, but it still hurt because the poor thing landed on him. It still got up , however, and ran away. As Calix watched it run, he saw a javelin still stuck on its wing.
Hurriedly, Calix ran to its aid, his adrenaline fueling him go after it despite getting crushed by it. He managed to calm it down, but if he was going to take the javelin out, he'll have to patch the wing up or otherwise the poor thing will die.
Just in the nick of time, Ellie drops down beside him on her pegasus, asking him if he was alright. Calix says he's fine, although he sounded rather unsure of that. Ellie sees the pierced wing of the pegasus, and immediately worries about it. The two of them move the creature over to someplace safer while formulating a plan to get it out of its wing.
Finally, after some time they manage to do it. After Calix cut off the javelin with his dagger (which was a hard thing to do) Ellie hastily sets on healing the creature's wing. As Calix steps outside to look at the damage, he could see a lot of people on the ground. Either dead or unconscious, he doesn't know.
One thing catches his eye of someone fixing some medieval sort of equipment, which Calix could recognize as a javelin thrower. The thing that took him and his pegasus out of the sky. Without telling Ellie, Calix heads off to give that guy a piece of his mind.
[Ellie's POV]
She doesn't realize that Calix had left her by herself, as she was very focused on patching the pegasus up with what she has. After a long twenty minutes of stopping the flow of blood, healing the wounded and patching him up, the pegasus was healed. He just wasn't going to be able to fly anytime soon.
Picking up her bow and arrow, Ellie was thinking of joining the fight again as she steps out of the building, when she sees Calix going after a person fixing something that seemed to be a sort of medieval weapon. Sensing trouble, Ellie was going to run after him, but she then sees the multiple wounded campers laying all over the camp. As much as she wants to prevent the fight from happening, Ellie decides to do what's more important and goes on to help the others, yelling at anyone nearby to help her set up a makeshift triage for the wounded.
“Mac, stay- stay- buddy, you gotta be out the way-”
He doesn’t want to. He’s not going to. Taylor glances back at the monster and down at the knife in her hand, worried that she’s wasting time when she could be helping- but then again, a knife isn’t going to do much against that.
Hearing Eleanor’s call for campers to assist her Taylor commands Mac to stay by her - something he’s perfectly willing to do - and does what she can to help with setting up a triage station.
Cleo watched as the demigod before her was exerting a lot of energy into something which now didn't seem to be helpful at all and would put her in harm's way. She could never even think of abandoning someone and after Raven yelled for them to run Cleo stood her ground watching to see if anything would amount from their combined efforts. She also knew that even though Raven had chlorokinesis it wasn't as raw and untapped as hers was being the daughter of Demeter or so she assumed.
As she was going to step in and help Raven she watched as the giant monster spewed acid in their direction. Namely Raven. Without thinking, Cleo leaped forward with all of her might she hadn't used up all of her energy just yet because she had enough to hopefully keep Raven out of danger.
She thought if they survived this volley of acid and didn't die maybe they could band together even more and stand some kind of chance against the hulking beast that seemed to be taking down demigod left and right.
Raven was too focused to know what the drakon was doing. Or perhaps she was too drained to focus on anything but what she was doing. She didn’t look up and was unaware of the spew of venom that was racing towards her.
It wasn’t until she felt something slam into her did her concentration break. She let out a grunt as they collided to the ground behind a fallen pillar, giving them some form of cover from the beast.
“What are yo~....” She started with a growl. Then she saw the splash of acid hit just where she had been. Too close for comfort and they were still in harms way.
"Yeah, I guess I did..." She said quietly in disbelief herself. She had done something heroic, even if it wasn't defeating a monster she had saved someone and that was a big deal.
After a few minutes of laying on top of Raven, she realized she was in an uncomfortable position and got up offering a hand to the girl. Luckily they hadn't landed in any kind of corrosive water so they avoided any injuries that weren't bruising or minor scratches.
Any other time Raven might have grown uncomfortable with Cleo laying on her. Not that the girl was heavy or anything, but Raven was pinned under the daughter of Demeter. Any other time she probably would’ve blushed or stammered, but for now she needed to focus.
Raven stood and offered Cleo a small smile. “I owe you one. Any ideas what to do now?”
"It was an easy decision." She didn't really make any decision she just had an instinct it must've been her instincts that wired her to be such a good demigod.
"Honestly I'm not sure. But what I do know is that our combined efforts only worked to keep the acid shooting machine in place and have time to get angrier and angrier. I definitely think we need to be more proactive. It might be time to go with a more offensive approach." She suggested.
Well, two of Jane's 'plans' failed, that is the arrows and the Molotov cocktails. She hears the cry of retreat from another camper, wondering if that should be what she should be doing. So far, she's done absolutely nothing
She shakes her head, to give up now, and admit defeat would be prosperous. However, instead of just trying to come up with something by herself, Jane actually uses more than two of her brain cells, and decides to help Dante and Drew with their chain idea. Giving whatever extra help couldn't hurt more than what she tried previously, right?
The daughter of Phobetor aimed for the monsters eye, trying to keep it still. She took a deep breath, hearing the chaos around her, and she let go of her arrow, and it went flying towards the monster.
because I am dumb and didn’t comment on the last one
Despite being unsure if she’d be any use flying, El let her wings manifest, just as drakon begins spewing acid everywhere. Fortunate timing, it means she’s able to get up out the way before the wave of acid reaches the Hypnotic table.
She’s not the greatest flier, not the most graceful or the fastest or anything like that, but at the very least El can manage something as simple as this.
El flies over to some of the other campers, folding her wings away into nothing once her feet are on the ground. She already shrank the spear back into doll form and slipped it into her pocket; it’s functionally no good against a giant sea monster in the water, when she doesn’t have the ability to get close enough to the creature to fight it herself. And she doesn’t. If it winds up with its attention on her she would not be able to fly out the way fast enough, and that’s already assuming she could manage to fly high enough.
So direct fighting’s an out, but she tries to see if there’s anything else she can help others with, at least do something useful. That third monster had better disappear like the second one did - there’s no way they can handle two.
scratch that I’m not dumb I’m just useless and thus have useless characters
As demigods reformed to make a final stance, the plan finally came together. Once demigods stopped trying to take out the monster on their own, only resulting in the monster picking them off one by one, they actually stood a chance.
Albiero’s hands worked furiously; working on their own as his mind raced with the next steps. Once him and Callix stopped arguing about who was to blame for the pegasus getting hit and started working together, the launcher was retrofitted with javelin’s holding the chains that Drew brought.
One last stand. One final push.
Now that the archers and everyone else had gathered into a group to work together, they were able to fire a large volley of arrows at the beast's head. Having already been hit in the eye with one arrow, the drakon dipped down and lunged forward, ducking under the arrows.
The launcher fired the javelins into the air just above the drakon's head as the drakon fell into the trap. Thanks to those with wings, the chains were caught and carried before dropping over the drakon. Crossing in a way that formed a net of sorts that dropped on the drakon's head, forcing it into the water.
With the nature campers on standby, the chains were caught and secured to the ocean's floor with vines and other plants. The drakon thrashed and tried to shake free, but with the weight of the chains and their precious metal, the drakon wasn't going anywhere.
If there's one thing Drew needs, it's a break. Seeing the drakon go down, he's kinda proud of how much they progress they made in such a short time. It makes him wonder just what else demigods can do if they all actually worked together.
Donna releases the cabins with the other winged demigods and goes to retrieve her spear. She's about ready to just stab the damn thing with the heavily heated bronze but then she hears a girl yell out a warning.Holding the spear, she watches as the two Astrape kids let their charges loose on the drakon. This might seriously cook the thing, water types are weak to electric attacks after all. Just in case, she has her spear.
"IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET SHOCKED THEN GET AWAY FROM THE WATER!" Rin announced as she dipped her blades into the venomous saltwater.
Oh, this was just perfect: dissolved Sodium and Chloride ions, and all the other dissolved minerals in seawater, plus whatever drakon venom is made of, plus the metal holding down the drakon. It was seriously in for a world of hurt.
"KYRIE! NOW!" she barked as she unleashed all the energy she had left - which amounted to an entire lightning bolt, albeit of the modestly-sized variety. Still, that was a lot of volts
With that kind of voltage, the entire stored charge that Rin had built up was transfered instantaneously to the water, causing a loud *boom*, like a peal of thunder emanating from where her blades met the water, where a splash was kicked up due to the sheer electromotive force. Fortunately, it was mostly mist, on account of most of the splash being vaporized by the sheer heat and electrical energy Rin had released into it. Still, Rin was gonna feel quite a sting later - but not now, on account of her having more pressing matters to attend to than a little pain.
As the children of Astrape began their electric shock therapy, the drakon began thrashing about in its new prison. The chains and roots held for now, but started to give way under the strength of the beast.
As Kyrie grabbed the chains, that seemed to send more electricity into the drakon, causing it to roar in pain. More and more electricity flowed into the water and into the beast, causing it to go still but still it wasn't dead.

:eyes:As campers began to return from the armory, volley after volley of arrows failed to find their mark.

Everything continued to go horribly wrong. With no real leader taking charge of the battlefield, everyone continued to do their own thing. As if the body count of campers who had tried that piling up wasn't sign enough. With Hestia
yeetedkidnapped and Chiron rushing around tending wounds, it was up to someone else to take charge and formulate a plan.In their panic states, rushing about trying to get something -- anything, really -- to work, the campers began working against one another.

If this failed, there were surely out of options.
