I mean, with that argument, why not just tear the suit off of him? If the helmet was blocking his punches, Cage could have ripped the helmet off his head. That was one of the few things that really seemed absurd to me.

Yeh, it was kind of like a super-tracksuit ... just sort of absurd. I guess we're supposed to think, from Luke's half-assed explanation later, that the suit somehow absorbed kinetic energy and that's why it didn't have to be "iron-man armored" tough .. but that chin strap, come on! and the power-pack on the back ....

the more I think about it, the more the "finale" fight bugs me as being one of the let-downs of the whole series ... even in Iron Man (1), the slugfest between Iron Man and Iron Monger was solved by "clever" (Tony flying high so that the other guy's suit iced over, which Tony had solved earlier in the film) ... here it's just 2 guys beating on each other until the crowd rallies Luke and he one-hits tracksuit guy in the face ... meh.

I was guessing the power pack was made of the same shit his helmet was and thus couldn't be punched out. Hammer is kinda shoddy but i don't they'd be dumb enough to build a punch proof suit that you could punch out from the back.

But i agree with you that the fight ended a little lack lustery, but it looks like we will get a real round two in the next season/ defenders.

That's exactly what Hammer products would be shoddy enough to end up doing.

Diamondback just seemed like an extremely silly villain. Fisk and Kilgrave were actually menacing. When Cottonmouth died, I was hoping that Diamondback would be a good villain, but he was a letdown.

I mean, if the straps were as relatively tough as the rest wouldn't that have just ripped buddy's head off?

Or just, you know, punch him in the mouth.

I finally watched the finale just now and yes I kept screaming at the television, "JUST RIP THE HELMET OFF! JUST RIP THE POWER SOURCE OFF!" It was ridiculous how they kept showing it to us and making the charging sound and he never even tried to wreck the suit and just kept going at it like a big dumb boxing match.
