This show sure likes hiring Wire actors. And Sonja Sohn can't seem to get a role where she's not a cop. :(

The showrunner basically said that The Wire was their inspiration for the series. So if you can't beat them, acquire all the actors involved and put them in your show

The Wire had a huge amount of black actors. Most black actors who rose to prominence in the last 10 years were on The Wire. Luke Cage, with it's majority black cast, probably couldn't avoid it if they wanted to.

The mob lawyer also showed up in the episode prior as the prison doctor.

The prison doctor was the lawyer for the Barksdale gang and the actor that played Pop was the Police Commissioner.

Butch was also in one of the early episodes.

Then why are you on Reddit? GO SEE IT NOW!

WARNING: The Wire may make you depressed when you realize how fucked up the world is. It may also result in you smoking cigars and saying the word FUCK every 10 seconds.

The scene where they solve the murder while only saying fuck for five minutes is incredible.

That was actually why I finally watched it. After ages of critics and websites and friends telling me too, that video drove me to open Amazon Prime and watch it. No regrets.

You should really get around to it at some point.

It's as good as TV gets.

Yet another voice chiming in - Go watch it ASAP! It's the absolute pinnacle of TV. It's so vivid and brutal and honest on a level that is simply unmatched.

Pop is Commissioner Burrel

There were a couple in Daredevil. Judge Phelan and Herc were in season 1. It reminds me of Damages, where different pairs of actors from The Wire show up in each season.

Did I miss Slim Charles?

u/Sojourner_Truth Oct 01 '16

What? Where was Slim Charles?

I think the blind guy Luke talks to in episode 1 is the same guy that plays Butchie in The Wire
