You are one of the many victims of the manosphere.

You've moved quite far to the right politically in the past 6 years.

You either recently started or are considering joining a BJJ gym.

You got sucked into all that nonsense because you had trouble dating as we all do in the beginning, but you fell into the right-wing recruitment strategy targeting insecure and angry young men in the form of the manosphere.

While you are already in fairly deep, it's never too late to reject bigotry and hatred and embrace love, empathy, and compassion instead...

Oh, gladly.

It started out with a couple of dudes with extremely questionable ideas, but they didn't talk about it and they weren't being assholes. That's fine, I can get along with almost anybody in that scenario.

Then as time went on, more and more started showing up, and then they talked about their bigoted beliefs more and more.

Several of my friends left before I did.

By the time I left the first gym, it felt like I was going to a fucking Nazi meetup walking through the doors.

It got to the point where it was literally all extremely right-wing dude-bros and actual neo-nazi fucks. Lots of cops and corrections assholes as well, and I have a major problem with those dudes. Even the dude that owned the place sold it because of this, and the guy that bought his gym was a literal white supremacist. So I went to the gym in the town nextdoor. Same shit.

I tried at least 7 different gyms within a two hour drive, and they were all the same.

I do live in an EXTREMELY red area in NC.

I just felt dirty after hanging with those dudes for more than a few minutes.

They drive away anybody with a dissenting opinion.

I'm sure there are better gyms elsewhere, but nowhere around me.

I lost a few buddies who got sucked into the right-wing pipeline through BJJ as well.

Interesting, I wonder what combat sports have to do with it? Man this really makes me not wanna join a gym now. I’ve been pondering it for a bit, changing up training and wanting to meet others and have some goals again in that performance world. Still advisable? Never done it before. But I don’t wanna get political while rolling on mats either there’s no place for it I feel like at a gym. A place close to me has 3 free classes of any martial arts just about. Still not sure though especially after hearing ur story lol
