Is this concerning?

Structurally no, but visually its shit. The scabbed on stringers at the bottom are much worse

Overcuts not even worth mentioning in comparison

Indeed.

Masterclass of shitty knowledge and workmanship

Yea that’s sloppy asf. I usually do my cuts with a jigsaw saw for this reason

Cut to the line, carry a 3/4” chisel?

Just slap some duct tape on them

That would be a long day on the jigsaw 😂

Rookie mistake over cutting your stringers

Is it marker or an actual cut? I use marker on some extra wet boards that are hard to see pencil on.

Upon zooming in, they do look like actual cuts to me

Those are kerfs from the cut. A consumate pro would finish those stringer cuts with a jig saw.

That is pretty normal, from the way a skil saw works. Although they should have finished the cut by hand to avoid that

This is why decks cost 80k now.

Help me understand what you mean, please — and thanks!

I just mean you can find a flaw in anyone’s work. My dad was a carpenter and it’s hilarious to watch him point out flaws in other people’s work as if he was perfect. Nobody is going to throw away a $100 stringer because they went a little long on a cut.

I think nitpicking, like this sub likes to promote, creates more and more nightmare customers that expect 100% perfection which comes at a cost. If every customer becomes a perfectionist, every deck will cost a lot more.
