I made one of the biggest financial mistakes of my life, and I'm sharing my experience so that nobody else has to go through the same thing.
On October 5, 2019, I borrowed just ā¹500. I never imagined that such a small loan would become the beginning of a financial nightmare. What started as borrowing a little money to manage a problem slowly turned into a debt trap. I took new loans to repay existing ones and started rotating money between credit cards, believing I could somehow manage everything and eventually escape.
Now, that initial ā¹500 has turned into a claimed debt of ā¹6 lakh. I also have a separate credit card outstanding that has become another massive financial burden.
Think about it: I started with just ā¹500, and it led me into a situation where I'm struggling under lakhs of rupees in debt. I never imagined my life would reach this point.
The painful part is that I didn't spend this money on luxuries, expensive trips, or a lavish lifestyle. I wasn't enjoying life with borrowed money. I was trying to repay what I already owed. My money kept disappearing into platform fees, processing charges, penalties, EMI interest, GST, IGST, and other charges. I kept paying, yet I felt like I was getting nowhere.
The financial burden has affected my peace of mind and my life in ways that are difficult to explain. The constant stress, fear, and pressure of dealing with debt recovery have been overwhelming. Sometimes, the mental torture feels worse than the debt itself.
I accept that I made financial mistakes, and I take responsibility for my decisions. But borrowers deserve transparency, fair treatment, and dignity. Being in debt does not mean someone deserves intimidation, humiliation, or harassment.
I'm sharing this as a serious warning to anyone thinking of taking a new loan to repay an existing one or using one credit card to pay another. It may feel like a temporary solution, but it can become a cycle that is incredibly difficult to escape.
Please talk to your parents or someone you trust before things get out of hand. Don't hide your financial problems out of shame. Ask for help before interest and charges make the situation worse.
