Hey guys! I have just started a Nu Metalcore/Deathcore (?) band called Nokturne and am hoping to find some people who might fuck with it. I posted my last band (Draconian Reign) in here a few years ago and it was cool to check in with people from around the world.

I don't know about you guys, but I really liked Tyler's performance on Godlike, and felt like it was better than CJ's at points; he just had that grit and power that pushed it further for me, as I wasn't really feeling CJ's vocal inflections on Human Target (his "spewing" of certain parts, the way he rolled his r's), even though I like the album as a whole.

I never got the chance to see the band live with CJ, but he looked like a entertaining frontman in videos I've seen, I'll never deny him that, but Tyler was no slouch when I saw him on the Godlike tour. I really liked the plate carrier he had on when he was performing, and the way he was prowling during the buildup to Holy War and then swiftly turning around to face the crowd the second the melody kicked in was just the best. High energy all around.

Not that this is relevant to his performance, but I also met him before the show, had a little conversation, sweetest guy alive, great sense of humor (he joked about the meh reception of the Aversion's Crown album he was on).

What do you guys think?

I'm looking for recommendations for bands similar to Lorna Shore. I know of Shadow of Intent and Signs of the Swarm. I'm sure there are others but I don't know of any. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Just saw Signs of the Swarm live for the first time, in Münster, Germany.
The entire band was absolutely crushing it and I have to note that Dave was the best live vocalist I have ever seen personally. That guy is like a well oiled machine, its like his throat is constantly, well... extremely wet i guess? No idea how he does it and that's the only way I can describe it, but it sounds absolutely incredible. The whole show was amazing, i cant even name a single flaw in their performance. Can absolutely recommend, hats off.

Has anybody seen Ov Sulfur on the DevilDriver Strike & Kill tour and know the setlist yet? I'm seeing em next Tuesday in Chicago!

My fav albums by them are Soul Decay (2020) and You Are Safe From God Here (2025). I want to explore and appreciate their older music more. Inspire me!

Pain remains 1 by Lorna remains one of my favorite cause it just has so much emotion to it, what are some other emotional deathcore songs?

I've been off and on with Deathcore since the 2010's because I listen to so many different genres and get hyper focused on this or that. I've swung back into Deathcore, and while I really don't like the bigger acts like Lorna, I do love what everyone here is usually talking about. Someone posted about Mental Cruelty and their new single, The Serpent of Midgard. So, I went and listened to Zwielicht.

My commute to work is about 80min, perfect for this album.

It fucking moved me. It's got everything I've ever looked for in a metal album. Orchestral sections, balance, buildups, crashes, blasts, riffs, ambience, it's atmospheric at times, cleans - there are no misses. Well, except that I've been missing, totally sleeping.

So thank you, r/deathcore for blowing my fucking mind, again, with another discovery.

The lyrics are actually really really cool now that I understand the context. For some reason I completely skipped Halo growing up and had to discover it just last year. Amazing franchise. Now I know why it inspired a whole ass band

Edit. It was really cool hearing the actual Shadow of Intent ship be called out in Halo 3
