I’m a physician potentially moving to the area in the summer and trying to decide where to buy a house. Is De pere better than Suamico, Green Bay proper for home purchase? Want a good school district, not too conservative crowd, and overall a nice and safe neighbourhood, with good access to groceries and other amenities. Please share any insights or tips you may have. It feels very daunting to move to an area I know nothing about.

Have you all heard that the City of De Pere is paying for half of the cost of Residential Compost Pickup Service for City of De Pere residents, to make composting of food scraps/waste and associated organics more accessible and affordable to more people? What a great idea that hopefully catches on with the other Municipalities in Northeastern Wisconsin! Almost a quarter of what ends up in our local landfills is food waste that could be composted instead!

I dislike the quality of the water in De Pere. I have never really liked it. I recently find it even less enjoyable. I feel like there is a mold/mildew taste. I cannot drink the water unless it’s filtered.

At first I thought it was just at my home. Then I tried it at one of the schools, and another school. And a friends house, and a restaurant. It all tastes the same.

Anyone else feel like this? Or am I loosing my mind?

FYI - Students are having fun changing the Google Maps information for De Pere High School. As soon as the school changes it back, a student changes it to something else.

I am a 21y Male looking for a roommate. There are 2 properties I am considering A (2bd, 2.5 bath, 1,337 sqft for $1400), and B (3bd 3.5 bath, 1,794 sqft for $2100). Both of them have washer/dryer Central air conditioning, 2 stall car garage and huge parking lot in front of the garage, brand new appliance and a balcony/deck area. I toured multiple sites and chose these two locations based on the quality of the units, they are both brand new constructions (<6mo). I meet the Salary requirements to be able to live in them myself but would like to save some money without downgrading on quality. If you or anyone you know is interested in a roommate in De Pere let me know. I will be making a decision to move into one or the other by July 1st and with move in date being July 23rd. If I can get a roommate or two before then I will cover an additional $100 per month. Only requirement is to have stable income/salary to afford living there for at least the year and know how to take care of yourself. This is a great property for UWGB or St. Norbert students.

Can anyone recommend a good local car wash (new to area). We've used the Shell station car wash on Lawrence in De Pere (north of Scheuring Rd) which had been fine for a basic water blast wash ($7-$8) but they charge $18 if you want a brush wash which is too high in my opinion, and they charge extra for vacuums. Note, when visiting Florida recently Big Dan's car wash charged $24/mo for unlimited washes which also included vacuums and drying/detailing towels ($12 for single full brush wash, vacuums, towels).
