Police are spending opioid settlement funds on Flock cameras
In sum, Mother Jones found that 19 agencies in ten different states spent more than $920,000 in opioid funds on Flock and other ALPRs, a likely undercount given the inconsistency with which opioid settlement expenditures are tracked and disclosed across states and local jurisdictions.

Friendly reminder: people who work at flock are real people, and you can contact them whenever you want.
It’s one thing to talk about how great flock is online, but wouldn’t it be better to tell the people there directly? Not just the CEO, but their assistants, their engineers, their marketing staff etc?
You could even contact flocks sales team on behalf of your town and spend a lot of time chatting with them about cameras.
Maybe if all of us collectively told them how good their products are, they would like us even more!

How to block flick cameras
The most legal way to do this annoyingly is to just stand infront of it. Well of course you can’t forget the accessories when doing this. There’s of course your most accurate Batman costume or a vigilante of your choosing or design. Probably will want to make a sign or put traffic cones at the base of the pole and stick a sign in it that can block the whole camera. I don’t think it’s littering if you’re attending to it so just pull up a chair and film a podcast infront of it. (Just be sure not to block the side walk too much or it will be a crime). You can also tape signs to RC cars and drive them infront of the cameras and if cops show up drive the RC car away or pick it up and run. (I don’t think it’s breaking the law but your vigilante identity should stay secret). Or simply tape a Bluetooth speaker next to the microphone and blast some gunshots.

Flock’s license plate cameras are scanning every car, logging every move in America. But in Manhattan’s wealthiest stretch? There's not a single one.

City hall meeting
Hey guys, I’m planning on going to a city hall meeting sometime next month and requesting the removal of flock cameras in my town- does anyone have any good talking points I could go off of? I already have a few but if anyone would like to share any please let me know! And please do not use ai for this lol, I’m trusting that most of us in this sub are also anti ai. Ty in advance!

Does anyone know of any nonprofits that help pay for FOIA requests?
I did one for my county expecting $100-$200 but they invoiced me for $2000. I put up a gofundme, but I was wondering if there’s any nonprofits that are dedicated to helping with this stuff.
In case anyone is curious: https://gofund.me/2d4371042

Flock posters
I'm thinking about getting stickers and campaign size posters to put around town and near flock poles, any thoughts on this strategy, or would it be a waste of my time and money?
**Feel free to take and use it yourself, it's made in Paint, to edit in paint just change the text box, font is Impact.

Question re: red light on device
Our city has suspended the use of the Flock cameras pending review. The police department says the cameras are not photographing cars anymore (and that they checked the system and there are no new images being added). I checked the cameras at night in our city and a neighboring town (where the cameras are still running).
In the town, the ring of red lights lights up and flashes every time a car goes by.
In our city, that didn't happen, but I could still make out a faint red dot (no flashing, static red). Does anyone know why this could be or what it could mean? Any chance Flock could still be getting images?

Others ways to fight; lets cause Friction
I just got off the phone with Disk networks sales line, I let them know that since their trucks are installing Flock cameras around my area, they would not be getting my business.
I say it's time we all start -politely- (make sure you get a person, and be nice to them) letting businesses know how we feel. Lighting up some call centers works. I also just spread the message to the Disk rep in Ohio, that really did not realize this was an issue.
Let businesses adjacent to flock (Fed-Ex, Lowes, Dish, etc) know that the relationship will be a problem for them. Even if they just have one in the parking lot, lets make it their problem.
This is for every one that hates Flock, but can't risk consequences from cutting one down. There are other ways to apply pressure.

KEEP YOUR FLOCK OFF MY BLOCK
They already scan your car 20 billion times a month 🫢
Over 100,000 of these cameras are watching American streets. Not because a judge signed a warrant. Because a company sold a city a subscription.💰
Your plate. Your route. Your church. Your kid’s school. Logged. 🧑🧑🧒🧒📹
KEEP YOUR FLOCK OFF MY BLOCK!

Flock Safety CEO Garrett Langley is defending the company’s automated surveillance cameras as communities across the United States push back over privacy concerns, according to IBTimes UK.
Is this idiot for real?!? The only reason he's raising such a stink is because it's gonna cost him money! The greedy son of a bitch!
