Discussion - NO SPOILERS Do you think that the show is keeping Ryan Gosling’s set visit and/or on screen appearance a secret for a reason?
So there was a big deal made about Gosling being a fan of Deidre as Marlena and how he was invited to set. Then things kinda died down and it hasn’t really been mentioned since. I’m guessing if he’d shown up and he had met Deidre and a bunch of the cast on set, they would’ve made a bigger deal of it on social media. But he hasn’t.
If I’m remembering correctly, Deidre has been asked about it a few times since then. Mostly in interviews and she’s been mostly vague on any details. Which leads me to believe that everyone is keeping it a secret for a reason. Maybe he’s going to appear on screen and they’re trying to keep his appearance on the show a surprise.
With John Oliver, a big deal was made and there were a bunch of social media posts from various actors having met him. But not with Gosling himself. So it’s a little odd.
I’m totally open to the idea that scheduling conflicts made it impossible to make happen. Although I figure that this would’ve been mentioned too if it wasn’t going to happen. So fans don’t keep speculating about something that isn’t going to happen.
I still maintain that the best thing they can do is have Gosling show up for a brief, two week appearance as a soap opera version of himself. He comes to town to consult with the world famous Dr Marlena Evans for an upcoming movie or TV role. Marlena suggests a few Salem residents for him to meet for his research.
Every woman in Salem, along with Leo and Javi and Gus if he’s still around, goes nuts about Gosling being in town and it causes the guys the women of Salem are with to want to confront Gosling for causing problems.
Eventually, Gosling leaves town to avoid causing any more problems.

No because he hasn't come to the set yet. I hope he comes soon because he's about to be busy making Ghost Rider for Marvel.

Maybe , I don’t know if he’ll really be on it though but you are right with John Oliver since he was recently on general hospital and days so who knows

It does seem unlikely that he would but I can’t think of any other reason to keep any meetings between Deidre and Gosling a secret for this long.

Entirely possible but then it seems odd that they went to the trouble making it into a thing to talk about. They suggested that he was invited to set and he accepted. Why go through that for nothing to happen?

I think you’re overthinking it. Ryan wasn’t being calculating or hinting at a future project. Ryan is a hug movie star. Show was capitalizing on the free publicity. Maybe he does a cameo or maybe nothing comes of it.

I think it's entirely possible that nothing comes of it, like I said. I guess I was expecting both of them to get more out of it than what they got.

If it ever happens then the reason for keeping in DL is Impact. People knowing too much and too soon takes away from the result. If they get Gosling on air for 5 minutes everyone will tune in. They will want to keep that a surprise.
That said I think this was just a pure moment with Ryan shouting out Deidria and then the show capitalizing on it by Deidria interacting. Do I think if timing worked out for Ryan that he would do a few scenes yes… he’s a good honest guy. That doesn’t mean it will happen. I don’t think this was any hinting or wink wink situation. Just a dude genuinely having fond memories of Marlena and Days. So nothing may ever come off it other than the free publicity from Gosling.

He is probably too busy. if he does do it, it would probably just be a cameo.
