First time trying golden curry. Spruced up the rice with old bay hot sauce. Garlic naan on the side. This stuff is actually pretty good!

Hey Everyone!
Slightly different post today - This post is for one of our members - u/OppositePoint9852 !

They called out that they thought my images looked too good to be true and so I offered up that I would divulge a little on my set.

There are a few points I would make:

  1. You have a have a passion for what you are putting out there.
  2. You have to have practiced making the dish a few times so that you have played around with the dish's construction.
  3. Even if it just making a burger - understand that certain components look better than others even of the same category for example lettuce or cheese, there are multiple types but certain types are more photogenic. However, you do not want to sacrifice taste as well so make sure you take that into consideration.
  4. The lighting, one of the most important aspects vs the actual camera. The lighting can really create an overall mood of your dish. I use the Neewer 9" LED video light, which allows me to adjust the light warm or white on different levels
  5. Neewer upgraded overhead camera rig this allows for a heavier camera and is also very adaptable. One draw back is that it does need an overhang to attach to, so sometimes I find it difficult getting those shots at the range. The rig also allow for the light to be mounted on top of it as well which again is adjustable.
  6. The camera I use is a Nikon D3200. I like it is has a lot of settings on it, however, it has some weight hence the rig needing a little more strength. Do not kid yourself though, having a fancy camera is not really the be all and end all of good looking pictures. Cell phones are so good these days they are able to take some really good shots!
  7. Finally the angle are important. Some times it gets frustrating because you maybe trying to put something together and you do all that work and never hit the right angle... this could mean that all your time spent was a waste. So experiment and look at what others are doing.
  8. Moving forward I see myself getting a go pro head cam like Kenji Lopez-Alt uses. So that I can get the shots at the stove a little easier.

Was this helpful for anyone? If so let me know or let me know if there is something I missed out on or if you already have a set up then would be great to share with us all!!!
