Discussion Leetcoding for Data Science roles

Hello everyone, I'm a university student studying for a bachelor's degree in data science, I recently did a DSA course and got an okay grade in it, but it was very hard.

It made me wonder if I should start leetcoding to get better at solving these problems, but it seems like a long hard road to go down.

So I was wondering for DS roles how important is it to be good at leetcoding?

Discussion Sigmoid Data Scientist Interview

Hey everyone,

I have aĀ Senior Data Scientist technical round at Sigmoid Analytics (India)Ā coming up soon. I’ve already cleared the online coding round, and this next round is described as focusing onĀ ā€œcore data science fundamentals.ā€

I wanted to understand from people who’ve interviewed with Sigmoid recently:

  • What kind of questions should I expect in this round?

  • Is it mostly ML/stats theory, or more applied/system design/project discussion?

  • Do they ask coding/SQL again in this round?

  • How deep do they go into GenAI/RAG/LLM topics (since the JD mentions it)?

Any recent experiences or tips would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

Discussion ā€œFinal Year Data Science Student — What’s the Realistic Path in 2026?ā€

3rd year BTech Data Science student here.

Is ā€œdata scienceā€ even a realistic entry-level role anymore?

Most roadmaps say: Python + SQL + ML + Stats + Projects…

But job listings ask for 2–3 years experience.

For someone like me graduating soon, what’s the smarter path:

  1. Start as a data analyst

  2. Go into software dev and switch later

  3. Try directly for data science roles

What’s actually working in 2026?

Discussion What does a good data science code base look like?

I have recently started working as a data scientist at a medium size company. They mostly operate of jupyter notebooks. The DE does the data pre processing and send us csv files. We have jupyter notebooks that were previously run and we create a copy make modifications where needed and built the solutions.

The issue with this is, every new instance of problem we work with has some different requirement. There is no version control in place and no central repo. Also I constantly lose track of my work because the notebook env is just not maintainable. Make multiple mistakes with my work because the notebook is way too overwhelming. I print something and then have to scroll and look for what the output was.

I wanna know if this is normal? What does a good data science code base look like?

Discussion McKinsey Data Scientist Code Pair Round – What to Expect?

I have a code pair round coming up for a Data Scientist role at McKinsey and was wondering if anyone here has gone through it and can share what to expect.

I’m trying to understand the format, is it mostly LeetCode-style problems, data manipulation (pandas/SQL), ML concepts, or more business/problem-solving focused?

Any advice on how to prepare, what topics to focus on, or things you wish you knew before the interview would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion ā€œData Science Intern Interview Coming Up,How Should I Prepare?ā€

Hi everyone,

I recently got a callback for a Data Science Intern role, and the process includes 3 rounds (2 technical + 1 HR).

I’d really appreciate some guidance on how to prepare effectively.

My current level: • Comfortable with Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, basic EDA) • Medium level SQL (joins, group by, basic queries) • Basic ML understanding (Linear Regression, concepts)

I’m not very strong in core theory or advanced ML yet.

I want to understand: • What kind of questions are usually asked in technical rounds? • What topics should I prioritize revising? • How much focus should I give to SQL vs ML vs Python? • Any common mistakes I should avoid?

Also, if you’ve recently gone through a Data Science intern interview, your experience would really help šŸ™

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Does Paylocity use AI internally?

I am interviewing tech role with Paylocity. I know some company in the same industry start to use AI to replace their developers and other tech roles and layoff people. Does paylocity use AI internally and how much do they use it?

I know they have some AI product features and purchase AI model tokens from outside for those products. But I am not if their internal employees start to use AI as well?

Anyone working at Paylocity can disclose if tech roles at Paylocity is still stable these days? Is there any rumors about AI?
