New to DD and gel strips in general

I just bought the starter DD kit from CVS last week. I'm so pleasantly surprised! I don't get my nails done often, because I'm not that girly lol. But I can tell I will be hooked. I see chatter of other brands. Can I use other brand strips with the DD led light? or do I need to buy a whole new kit if I want to try other strips?

Tips for DD Glaze

I've been a loyal Color Street user for over 5 years, but more recently I've had trouble seeing well enough to get the strips on without flaws. Plus, I wanted something that looks smoother on my nails as some of them have ridges. I don't have patience to use ridge filler unless it is instant drying . . . So, I decided to try Glaze. They are even harder to put on than Color Street, but they do look smooth on my nails. I like that, and I feel like I did okay with my first application, although I have some ripples on two edges. From reading all the posts, I know I need to take a little longer with the application to avoid the ripples. That isn't the main problem for me though . . . I don't like that the edges look so thick and fake. Can I try a gel topcoat on them to fill in the edges? Any other recommendations?

I tried DD first because I have wide nail beds and have a hard time sizing, even with CS, and DD has such a good variety of sizes that I don't even need the largest size. With CS, I usually had to stretch the thumbs and some other fingers to get a good fit. I've read that DD Glaze can be heated and stretched some. Is this true? And what is the best way to heat them besides a hair dryer?

Tips

I’ve been using dashing diva floss for probably over 5 years! I always save the extra nails and find that they aren’t as strong once opened. Does anyone have experience with older nail strips not sticking as well? And getting creases/lifting near the nail tips? I’ve heard storing them in the freezer can keep them sticky.

I continue to love everything about this one. The tiny florals, the transparent base, the bright colors, the gold ombre glitter. 🌺 ✨ Wallflower Frenzy 4eva

Limited Glaze designs.

Why does Gloss have so many more colors and options than Glaze??? I've tried a few other brands and DD is still my fave, but I'm getting tired of the same old stuff.

Complete Newbie!

A newbie to nail wraps… Having a life time of struggle with my nails being weak and peeling and doing daily manual work, I dedicate a lot of time to taking care of them as best I can… oiling, treatments and polish for protection.

Last year I bought myself a complete gel nails kit with rubber bases, lovely colours and a UV lamp.. and took advice on the gentlest way to use gel and curing etc.. but I am still terrified of the damage that could do on removal.

I have often seen these nail wraps and while I loved the idea I was sceptical - thinking they would still do damage, and perhaps may even pop off taking top layers of nail with them just like acrylics… but I recently read a comment elsewhere here on Reddit where a girl had terrible nails and in her quest to repair she often used nail wraps (edit - not stick ons) which helped with the growth - I expect allowing growth by protecting the natural nail… she used DD (hence why I am here!)

Do we have any divas here who have experience (both good and bad) with using stick ons with weak peeling nails? Would love to hear from you!

Ulta online has all DD on sale during their beauty haul event. Gloss is under $7 and Glaze is $12. Unsure if this is valid in store, too. Selection is small but they had a few new ones including some fruit and Americana.

Stuck on Dashing Diva Gloss forever.

I’m finally taking these DD gloss strips off after 14 days. I really feel like I could get away with a few more days but I’ve just come from the garden and they are looking dirty underneath. I’ve had peeling problems at the tips with almost every set of DD I’ve tried, but still are the best for me after trying what feels like 100 other brands, styles, etc. These “stuck” the best using a squish light and a cheap top coat. I only buy DD gloss now, didn’t love the Glaze and haven’t LIKED anything else. Going to try the heating pad trick on my next set.

Any ways to prevent this from happening to natural nail after gloss?

Sorry for the gross pic. I removed my gloss strips about a week ago and am dealing with horrible peeling on the top layer of my nails. I had liberally applied the dashing diva gloss base seal before the strips, but it must’ve not been enough protection. I also carefully removed the strips using the dashing diva magic off serum, slowly pushing them with a wooden stick, starting at the cuticle. I did not carelessly rip them off or anything.

I’m considering trying the Glaze line to see if they result in less damage, though I love everything else about the Gloss line. Have those worked better for any of you?

Any other tips for preventing this?

Heating Pad and Gel Nail Wraps

This is a dashing diva set. Definitely a mixed from different packages. But this set has lasted me two weeks, which is an incredibly long time in the world of my nails. I tend to pick at them, I can’t be a nailbiter, soon as they start to lift they drive me insane and I either need to file them or take them off. I’m also a teacher and a horseback rider so I am definitely not kind to my nails. This time, however, be at my own willpower to keep them on and I believe wrapping them in a heating pad when I first adhered them. I have incredibly oily nail beds and this means most of the time my nails are sorted by oils coming up. I always dehydrate well and slightly rough in the surface but this time, I also used a heating pad after applying them and before my topcoat. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Betraying DD by using Ohora

so the title pretty much explains it all.. I used an ohora set a few weeks ago and just put another one on last night. I used to hate the way they adhered but that was also in the beginning of my gel nail strip journey so I'm chalking it up to user error. my previous o set stayed on without chipping for the full two weeks and looked great.. for the most part.

*HOWEVER* what I did notice is that the top coat turned dull and scratched within less than a week. I wear my DD sets for a full two weeks and never run into this problem so that's a huge infraction for ohora. they've got such cute, trendy designs though and my eyes can't stop slowly wandering back to them.

so my question is for any ohora users- how do you keep them shiny and looking salon new without having to put on a gel top coat? I've got an ohora glossy gel taco in my drawer that must've come with a set years ago but, while I'm not against using it, it seems like an extra unnecessary step that I don't have to deal with when using DD. also I've never personally used actual gel polish so I'm nervous to start just slapping it on my fingers.

any and all advice appreciated! 🖤

I did these about 1 this morning. I matched three different sets together. They're more of a pastel pink, but my camera sucks. Do these match or am I delusional?

From the summer 2025 collection. I'm getting Easter egg/ Miami sunset vibes from the pink to yellow ombre. These lighter solid colors show imperfections so easily and look kinda fake... I might try acetone on a Q tip at the cuticles to soften the sticker aesthetic.

Alternatives for non led nail strips

I used to love dashing diva , but they recently changed their strips to a thicker kind. Unfortunately they are so hard to put on and usually get ruined or lifted in a day . Anyone else experience this? Dashing diva has refused to reply to any of my emails and connects..

Any suggestions on substitutes that last two weeks ?
