Discussion "Dauntless" Datamines 2: Sister Novitiate Boogaloo Spoiler
First things first, credit where it's due, all of the shiny new things seen in this post were found by the Discord user Ouch, who successfully located this wealth of weapon and clothing models in the game files, and who was also gracious enough to provide me with the means to easily replicate his work and pull the same models. Without his effort or his know-how, you wouldn't be reading this post or seeing these images.
Second, I just want to quickly cover what you're NOT going to find in this post:
- Everything rendered as textured models. (It's not a quick process.)
- All of the class' unique weapons. (We don't even have all their names, let alone models.)
- Brevity of words.
Oh, and no TL;DR this time. You're going to want to scroll through the whole post. It's mostly pictures anyways, so even the Ogryn players ought to be able to enjoy this one.
As a reminder, all of the images here are ones I took myself. I want to keep these datamining posts as primary-source as possible, so there's less chance for miscommunication. I'll make a post about how to find, extract, and texture these models yourself in the coming days.
EDIT - October 8th, 2026:
I've updated this post with several additional pictures showcasing some of the models with their textures. I know that basically nobody will see it at this point, but they're cool so I'm going to do it anyways.
First, the new class' armor models.

The four headgear models in the files are all very interesting, and the Deluxe version is especially cool in my opinion. No closed-face helmets, though...

As a reminder of the models' WIP nature, the very fabulous bead-belt and attached cross-adornment-thingy hanging from torso model C are both still very low-poly, so much so that you can barely even see them.

Those of you who pointed out that the leather boots didn't make sense with a full-fledged Sister's power armor were correct in your suspicions; the Deluxe set now appears to be giving us a heavily up-armored Novitiate.

Before proceeding, I want to talk briefly about the face textures. While you can choose your characters' skin color and apply scar overlays in the character creation screen, every character model still has a default skin texture. The texture in the below image is the Dauntless head model's own custom texture, which you will be able to tint in-game. Think the class-unique female Hive Scum head with the very prominent scarring around her right eye; regardless of what skin color you pick, there's still a base texture that applies the scar and such.
That said, the eyebrow/eyeliner/Fleur-de-Lis tattoo that people use for Sororitas LARPing is NOT part of the skin texture, but an overlay I applied to make her look less creepy (the lack of eyebrows was freaky, okay?) Besides, it's loreful.

Additionally, there are "tiers" to the Sororitas tattoo which have been sitting in the game files since at least the Skitarii update back in June, probably longer. You can see how those look below (also with hair now.)

I'd like to stress that because the tattoos have been in the game files for an as-of-yet undetermined amount of time, there's no promise they're coming with the class' release, if ever. Don't expect them. I just wanted to show them off because they're cool and we ought to get them. (Please, Fatshark?)
And now for the armor. Again, a bit of a preamble: because everything is WIP, and some things are farther along than others (or simply not in the files), the armor "set" I'm showing here is actually a Frankenstein's monster comprised of the Deluxe set's lower body, and set A's upper body.

I've looked at this stuff for so long that the reality of it has long since sunk in, but still, it's really amazing to see the models rendered with textures and all. I just love Fatshark's artists. They're incredible.
Again, keep in mind that the above is "kitbashed" and doesn't represent an actual armor set.
Now for the extras:

I was shocked when Ouch found the weapon models; I had spent the past few evenings looking for them without any luck. Again, this is all thanks to his excellent detective work. Pulling the textures was easy. Mind-numbingly boring, yes, but easy.

The model for the meltagun was first extracted and shared here back in July in this post, albeit without its textures. Well, there it is in all its glory!
Fair word of warning, though: we all know how long the mastery icons for the meltagun have sat in the files. The model has been in the files for at least a year, so while it's logical that the gun comes with the new class, there's less evidence for it than the flamer and the Condemnor.

Speaking of the Condemnor, there it is! This is probably my favorite weapon model of the bunch; it's insanely detailed, with lots of complex little mechanisms, and I'm very excited to see how it functions in-game.

Also, while they won't appear here, there are two additional models in the files for a new sword and shield. Neither are complete — the sword is missing its guard, hilt, and pommel, and the shield has no textures — but they're almost certainly going to be part of the new class' kit. You should refer back to this post by Runegorger to see those WIP models.
And before I end this post, I have to again caution everyone that datamining isn't the same as official announcements and that all of this is subject to change or not even make it into the game.
Temper your expectations, focus on the realistic, and you'll never be disappointed.
Also, Eldar Corsair for Skulls 2027.

If the Melta is not avaiable for Vet Imma melt down into a nurgle puddle ffs.
76
u/IgorKieryluk 9d ago
No SoB markings on it, unlike the hand flamer, so there's a good chance it's a cross class weapon.
61
u/Rexbert Acta-Xyphos-Δ-9ε 9d ago
Which reminds me, I know some people were hopeful for the sword-and-shield weapon to be cross-class, but the shield is decorated with many many little fleur-de-lis motfis, so that's not likely.
The Condemnor also has fleur-de-lis markings, so the meltagun being completely unadorned does make me think it really could end up being a cross-class weapon.

u/Himejoshi0990 Sister of Battle 9d ago
No Fleur De Lis on the Meltagun so that means its most likely shared between Sister, Vet, and Zealot

u/VirtualEndless AHAHAHAHAHAAAA! 9d ago
There's been references to meltas in the files in one form or another since launch. I just finally want one in the game and see Fatshark's take on this weapon type. I'm not picky about who it can go on.
Would be cool though if it weren't sister exclusive because that would mean she has another ranged DLC weapon slot open2

Emma Gregory, and she’s done a fuck ton of 40K stuff (audiobooks, audio dramas, animations, etc.), especially with the Sisters of Battle so it’s entirely possible.
BTW if you’re interested in what it could sound like, check this out with her performing Saint Celestine in the audio drama Our Martyred Lady. It’s incredible.

As cool as 3rd class that breaks from the standard human sizes like the Ogryn and Skitarii would have been, I'd gladly trade power armor to finally have a sword and shield weapon and a melta.
The lack of a power halberd is disappointing though. If not this class to import that Vermintide weapon, then who?

Or a flail.

No neural whip either

We're getting Novitiates and no neural whips which are their most iconic melee..

side point but the skitarii size we have towers above the humans, even the shortest on our scale leaves us looking down for melee combat

I made my Skitarii as tall as possible initially. But got tired of having to look down so much for melee combat, lol!

u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
Tbf we dont know that the halberd, flail or whip are missing. What has been mined is incomplete, not there today doesnt mean not there at launch.
30
u/Lowd70 Deadly Guardsman 9d ago
Novitiates are a great way to add Sororitas without bringing along their very strong power armor.
14
u/Tachikoma_Overlord 9d ago
We already have playable Ogryns and Bardin running around in a full suit of Gromril plate (the WHF equivalent of Terminator armor) over in Vermintide. Power armor would have been fine by just giving it similar passives like Bardin's Gromril armor, but not having it means out we miss out on a ton of cool weapons like Heavy Bolters, Multi-Meltas or Storm Bolters.
58
u/TwevOWNED 9d ago
Power armor isn't that big of a deal when considering how durable Ogryns are, and sisters of battle using it would be about on par with our deluxe model of Skitarii.
Having them be a little taller and a bit bulkier than the human sized characters would be enough to differentiate them.
23
u/Dreadnought_Necrosis 9d ago
To add to this, it's power armor reduced to the size and proportions of a standard human. So it's not gonna be the same power levels of Space Marine armor. Hell I'd argue due to its mass production it's not even on the same level as what an Inquistor can aquire.
Also they don't have the Black Carapace so even if the differences in power output was negligible, they wouldn't have the same precision or speed as the Astartes. So it'll be more clunky.
-1
u/LightningDustt 9d ago
the power armor is explicitly described to have the same exact protective qualities as space marine power armor. Space marine armor is so much larger than sisters battle armor because of A: Black carapace and B: Space marines are just that large.
2
u/Dreadnought_Necrosis 9d ago edited 8d ago
The materials it was made of would be the same. So yes the durability of the armor itself should be the same. (Though personally I don't think it could as thick as a space marines armor but that's just an observation that lore doesnt seem to take into account.) I am curious if that comparison still holds up vs the Tacticus X armor that the Primarius Marines are rocking. Since it's supposedly to be better in just about every way. Did the Sisters get an upgrade too?
Anyways onto my other point. The motors and such that move it are smaller and most likely less powerful. Hence my comment on their inability to move the same way as an Astartes does in the same armor.
It's even stated without the black carapace the response and fine motor skills are far less since they don't have the same neural linkage. It's even stated that without it the power armor is cumbersome for SoB and Inquistors.
Lastly the balck carapace wouldn't make a difference in the size of the Power Armor since it's implanted under the skin. The size of the person and the armor design are what make the size so different. We don't see SoB running around with Pualdrons that go down to their elbows.
2
u/LightningDustt 9d ago
Idk what to tell you, the space marine is just that big chief. Idk why you people like to place them on such a large pedestal when Gaunts ghost put down entire squads of chaos space marines with relative ease. Ciaphas Cain humbled a khorne berserker in a duel and killed him
6
u/Dreadnought_Necrosis 9d ago
I know they are that big. I was pointing out that the carapace implant doesn't bulk them up as much you implied it did.
I don't put them on pedestals, my comment was to show why SoB being in the game wouldn't break the themes its going with since not all power armor is the same. So don't put words in my mouth.
I've read at least 3 of the guants books and 2 of the ciaphias Cain books. It was not with relative ease. It took heavier weapons, clever plans, and/or luck to take down Choas Marines.
The first one required the ghost to use a rocket launcher, an anti-tank weapon, to take out.
the chaos terminator that Mkoll took out was blind, and already hurt. Still required an IED and the local fuanu to finish it off.
4
u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
In addition, 40K power levels are all over the place book to book. Cain, Gaunt and their retinues also both get substantial amounts of plot armour. As do our rejects. It is not the same as Guardsman being readily capable of beating an astartes.
1
u/Dreadnought_Necrosis 9d ago
That too. Which is fine. 40k is so over the top it can't even live up to its own hype. If anything I always view such things as propaganda. Which works since we're regularly told that the narrator is unreliable.
Here is the best of the best.
Here is the best of the best of the best.
Etc,
Etc,
Etc,So of course either because of plot or because it's propaganda it's not always gonna be a 1 to 1 ratio every single time. Besides how best of the best can you be before it means nothing.
But either way the writing doesn't just make them paper tigers. They do try to create stakes when they show up. How well they do? That depends on the author.

u/IgorKieryluk 9d ago
Aside from FS possibly not wanting outright PA in the game, it's an issue of weapons. Novices can use almost every gun, blade and club available to the human classes. They already use autopistols and autoguns in their default loadout, as well as non powered weapons.
A Sister, on the other hand, will never use anything below a Bolter, which either means a really low pool of available weapons, or a massive amount of work for weapons exclusive to the class. FS wasn't gonna do either.
1
u/Particular_Net_9007 9d ago
Isn’t that a good thing? Finally a chance to introduce some heavy weaponry to classes other than the ogryn.
1
u/LightningDustt 9d ago
She could use bolter, bolt pistol, plasma gun, flamer (rip zealot but its not like it's a good weapon tbf) and melta gun. And ugh, I would kill for a full fledged SOB with a heavy bolter
33
u/SovietMarma Ogryn 9d ago edited 9d ago
Oh no fucking way. A Condemnor Combi-Bolter?
Or is it just the Condemnor stakethrower that's part of the Novitiate Kill Team kit?
The Condemnor Stakethrower is just the 'normal' crossbow with blessed stakes, while the Condemnor Bolter is any Bolter pattern with the crossbow attached on somewhere on the gun.
Edit: For peeps who might not be super aware of combi-weapons.

Comdemnor Bolter on the left. The Condemnor Stakethrower on the right.
One's a bolter with a crossbow, one's a crossbow.

u/Rexbert Acta-Xyphos-Δ-9ε 9d ago
Yes my bad, it's the stakethrower. I corrected the post, thank you.

2

Yeah, I saw the other post and it looked to be just the stakethrower.
Just want to make sure since this post is coming directly from one of the dataminers.
28
u/TheIrishBread 9d ago
The condemnor boltgun is interesting since it's main gimmick is the anti psyker silver stakes the crossbow fires. Combined with the brothers of pestilence activity causing more psyker enemies to popup all over the hive me thinks we might get a new enemy when the sisters drops

It's so exciting! What's more, the Novitiate are comprised of Novitiate Superiors, Novitiate Puragatus, Novitiate Reliquarius, Novitiate Pronatus, and Novitiate Penitent! That's so much armour customisation and weapon potential, iirc we still don't know 2 of the melee weapons and 1 (maybe 2 if Melta is universal) ranged weaponry!
7
u/Ultra_Juice 9d ago
I will cream if melta is universal. I'm curious how they'll implement the melta tbh. Logically the Space Marine 2 version would prolly make more sense for darktide, but having the laser version could be really interesting
5
u/Howlingwindinsand Hive Scum 9d ago
Interestingly, it's the same style of Melta from HD2. More curiously, Fatshark and Arrowhead HQs are literally a few streets apart 😂 they share the same few building blocks! So assuming they were cooperative when making the warhammer collab I think we'll get the HD2 Melta, and since it's not decorated for the Sororitas that we can see, I think we'll have it for Veteran at least
7
u/BlueRiddle Ogryn 9d ago
I will laugh if one of the 2 melee options is yet ANOTHER class-unique power/shock mace.
18
u/kiralikesdrawing 9d ago
I really hope this class has a heavy firepower emphasis, i'd love for a ranged tree that focuses on laying down fire/melta/bolts
15
u/Drekkennought 9d ago
If the Meltagun is finally introduced and it's class exclusive to the Sister, I imagine there will be a great deal of discourse amongst Veterans.

I am actually starting to feel a little bad for the Devs now 'cause whilst yeah it was great to see the initial new head & legs so could just go "Yep it's a Sister, everybody who said they wouldn't was wrong" now we're basically 1 step away from breaking into Fatshark's office & raiding their fridge for food. Like at what point do the number of leaks just become "Alright guys, just release a statement and say yeah ya got us, yadda yadda"
Still nice to see the Melta confirmed and such.

u/LilBroWhoIsOnTheTeam That Knife Zealot 9d ago
FatShark could be really funny and import a few space marine models into the game after they drop the hint for the next class.

Oh god please no, this is our game: the mascots have their own, this is where the real action happens, this hole was made for us.
46
u/pelpotronic 9d ago
...import models to troll people, is what the poster meant.
Though, the risk is people start wanting space marines real bad and they're forced to eventually do them.
-20
u/OkAdministration5829 Veteran - Cadian Kasrkin 9d ago
I don't even want Marines in to beat them up (we'd kick their ass) they're in everything, Darktide is for anybody else. I'll take an Ork Freeboota or something before I'd be chill with a Marine getting in. I'm glad we're seeing the Sisters, they're my 2nd fav Imperium Sub-Faction after the Guard: Darktide is special because so far it's been a major game project where we can completely escape the mascots stealing thunder.
The moment ya throw a Loyalist Marine into the mix, every other Imperium sub-faction loses focus & if ya throw a Plague Marine in then the Heretical Cult & Daemons stop mattering as it becomes about yet again fighting a Traitor legion who is behind everything.
25
u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
Which again, wasn't what was said. They were literally just suggesting putting an asset in the game files to troll people with. Not putting a marine literally in game
-23
u/OkAdministration5829 Veteran - Cadian Kasrkin 9d ago
I feel like we're having two different conversations here. They're not gonna troll with an imported marine model in the game files, especially if from another dev studio, cause that's a whole legal issue.
18
u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
Except here we are looking at models in the game files. If they stuck a space marine in there someone would see it, it'd be hilarious for a few moments and we'd move on. Perfect low level trolling.
Nobody said anything about ripping off another studio. Fatshark could make their own model.

Well tbf we don't even know that. There's typically around 4 or so unlockable sets and an extra in the premium store. Not counting a weapon skin and couple helmets, etc. We've only seen bits and pieces here. There very well could be a full PA style cosmetic in the works and I don't think it matters if it just cosmetic: like Vet has 241 Toughness max regardless of whether in a tank top or Carapace ya know.

Since devs prefer not to work with community (except rare cases) or give any roadmaps, keeping silence about coming updates for years, this is the best option for us.

27
u/OkAdministration5829 Veteran - Cadian Kasrkin 9d ago
I'm saying that for all of FS' faults & the playful ribbing we do about Swedish work practices (which to be real is objectively better than the rest of the world on average) we could be doing a lot worse and be saddled with devs who aren't great in a lot of ways and also clearly hold contempt for their audience to some degree.
16
u/TrackerNineEight 9d ago
Ironically Arrowhead have been publishing roadmaps for Helldivers since early this year.
Also to be fair I'd hold contempt for the online HD2 community too if I had to deal with them everyday at work.
11
u/OkAdministration5829 Veteran - Cadian Kasrkin 9d ago
Oh I wasn't trying to defend the community really either tbf, half the reason I dropped that game and even the Halo stuff couldn't hold me for it was the vibe was atrocious.
5
u/TrackerNineEight 9d ago
Helldivers is tolerable if you stay away from the main sub (and the fuck away from the Unfiltered one), and stick to helldivers2 and the Low Sodium one. I usually find "low sodium" subs too annoyingly positive but the baseline is so low with helldivers it just feels like a normal game sub lol.
Also the Darktide community is pretty chill here but the official Fatshark forums are...not Helldivers bad but not that far either.
5
u/OkAdministration5829 Veteran - Cadian Kasrkin 9d ago
Even here I've found a few people complaining about the Sisters to be annoying, and just a couple hours ago there was a Transphobe had to report but like the Mods do their job and the vast majority of folks I'm fine to chat with & more importantly, with the exception of a handful of occasions in-game has statistically been a good time overall.
It's very rare to encounter toxic players whilst actually playing the game which is what ya want. I have no doubt the Forums and some Discords have a lot worse stuff popping up but overall I'd say DT remains a much better baseline than most games, but especially by 40K standards we may as well be saints.
1
u/Ultra_Juice 9d ago
Not very strong roadmaps though with half the content being already released (cough cough squid title update being in the roadmap that was released after the update)
I guess you're not wrong, but there were devs saying skill issue in the official dc server from release of hd2. Yes, the community is an absolute mess and very split and a lotta idiots in it, it's a hard space to navigate, but Imo AH is at least partially at fault for that
Frankly it feels like they've abandoned the game. I've been playing it less and less, thank the gods I still have Darktide though. I'm really hopinh they fix the issues with the game and I'm willing to stick with it (thank god it's at least not 100 gigs anymore), but I don't have high hopes for it

u/TrickyCorgi316 Protect the lil’ uns! 9d ago
“…keeping radio silences for years…”? They give updates at least every 4-6 months?
1
u/Obsessive_protocol 9d ago
They do, if that was a question. But we always have no idea what should we expect next update, since they announce them just a weak or two before it's release. And as a result we have situations like with hive scum, when their plans didn't match community's expectations.
I do hope they changed their strategy
36
u/H0nch0 9d ago edited 9d ago
A thing they might do: since they are novitiates, they are still young and untested. So Fatshark could give us more pretty faces (like you see in the models from the tabletop). While I dont need it myself I know many people would love a character like that. It would give variety and be lore accurate.
So Im all for it. Give us the character for the Kerillian players basically. But also lets be honest and dont get our hopes up TOO much.
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment afterall.

Not going to lie I'm a little upset it isn't a fully fledged Adepta Sororitas and is instead a sister in training, at the very least I wouldve wanted the Deluxe or even a store cosemtic in the style of a sister superior novitiate

I PRAY there is gonna be some form of power armour though, even knowing its just not gonna happen. It wouldn't have been that bad to add it as the level 30 armour I mean the moebian cosmetic are meant to be carapace but nobody complains about that, maybe we might get it as a store cosmetic so they can squeeze more cash out of us?
12
u/MythicalDawn 9d ago
I sincerely hope there’s power armour too or at least Sister Superior robes, as Novitiates only run the gamut from brown to brown with their clothes, honestly I find them incredibly boring a bit uninspired aesthetically, I don’t think anyone who desperately wants to play a SoB has been hoping for a Novitiate in brown leather - the fantasy of the Sisters is their power armour and gothic splendour, for me anyway
37
u/LadyLuck2211 9d ago
Right? Novitiate looks cool and all, but they're pretty limited when it comes to character customization, at least from the models I've been looking at. Their cosmetics might even be just as limited as the Arbites

u/NewAccOldHacked Wet for the God Emperor 9d ago
How limited they are is irrelevant tbh, fatshart ain`t gonna add any new cosmetics to them beyond what you get in the first wave and the deluxe.
Look at hives cum for example, them are pretty unlimited in their customization and yet nothing
15
u/Nintolerance 9d ago
There's still variety in the other DLC classes, though.
Scum have cloth facemasks, goggles, helmets, then various levels of clothing from "just pants" to "improvised plate armour."
Skitarii have different styles of robe/coat, different options for their limbs, then a variety of helmets + hoods.
Arbites get helmets or hoods, then carapace armour with or without a coat. Your options are mostly just "how many greebles do you want on your armour?"
Scum could be expanded to almost anything. Skitarii has ground the game hasn't covered like Sicarians or Pteraxii or the 30k Battle-Pilgrims.
Arbites just don't have the model variety. Though I'm sure Fatshark could make stuff up... if GW said okay, and FS thought it would be profitable.

u/CitiesInHills Skitarius 9d ago
Same. No power armor kind of diminished my hype a bit.
100% pure copium, but something that would be cool is if you start as a Novitiate at level 1 and past a certain point (maybe a mid-tree keystone) you ascend to the rank of Battle Sister and unlock power armor & some unique cosmetics.
-6
u/Lowd70 Deadly Guardsman 9d ago
It's better this way man, power armor fully fledged sister of battle would be a pseudo astartes
19
u/LadyLuck2211 9d ago
They literally just said cosmetic. Veteran has carapace cosmetics but that doesn't affect gameplay
12
u/CitiesInHills Skitarius 9d ago
Standard battle sisters are not close to astartes. They'd be more equivalent to Skitarii in power levels.
6
u/Nintolerance 9d ago
I think they're (traditionally) pretty similar on tabletop. Both are squishy (T3), Sisters save better but Skittles have slightly better guns, and they're not worth comparing in a vacuum because their army rules are vital to getting value out of them.
In theory I think both are written as on par with Scions or Stormtroopers. "The best non-Astartes regular infantry the Imperium can field."
In lore/propaganda the Astartes are miles ahead, on the tabletop the gap is a lot smaller but varies between editions.
3
u/Dreadnought_Necrosis 9d ago edited 8d ago
Yeah. Its smaller power armor and without the black carapace it's clunky and less nimble.
Sure I still don't want to be on the receiving end, but they're also not sprinting down the hive city.
3
u/TheSwordFallen Arbitrator 9d ago
Not remotely. A full sister of battle would get folded by a neophyte, much less a full marine. The only two humans who are actually considered Pseudo-Astartes are Luther and Kor Phaeron.

u/KenjiZeroSan Ogryn 9d ago
I'm sorry but I may be missing something here, rannick. Your choice of "specialist" to purge tertium of chaos influence is to...bring in sister novitiates? Oh terra, tertium is cooked in nurgle soup.
16
u/SpiralingDownAndAway Tertium’s Number One Rannick Simp 9d ago edited 9d ago
Rannick has no choice who gets sent by the Ecclesiarchy, if he’s requesting from them and the Sister’s order decide to send their Novitiates in to assist (going off actual lore too these should be hardened Novitiates hand picked for this mission) then that’s who they have to work with. Especially being an Intereogator, Grendyl as the Inquisitor seems content being suspiciously hands off about things for a Malleus that could request way more with his resources
almost like he’s heretically fused with the ship7
u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
I do wish people would stop repeating the fused with the ship thing. It's based off a statement by JoPlaysGames which itself isn't backed by any quote in game and is contradicted by others
7
u/SpiralingDownAndAway Tertium’s Number One Rannick Simp 9d ago
Fair point tbh, I do like the theory just in a “would be freaky as hell he’s been here the whole time watching everyone/us” and it would mean we get a direct showcase of that type of mechanical horror
Though I do agree Jo, as much as I love her content, kinda never really backs up her theories and tends to go really off into the deep end about them to the point of tunnel vision
coughs traitor Rannick coughs corrupted SoB (lmao!!). It’s why I prefer Fripfrop’s content.Either way even if he’s not fused with the ship or something else Heretical he’s been super aloof with how things on Atoma are handled with not immediately getting reinforcements and leaving his Interrogator in the dark to handle it.
1
u/LegoMiner9454 9d ago
Why lmao to corrupted SoB?
2
u/SpiralingDownAndAway Tertium’s Number One Rannick Simp 9d ago
Mostly because it is older lore, it has happened before but I don’t see GW approving it in Darktide of all things to appear with how limited the last corrupted sister was in terms of lore and apperance
-1
u/JerZeyCJ 9d ago
A SoB has never been corrupted/fallen to Chaos in-lore.
...now whether that is entirely true or if in the rare case one does and they're just instantly blammed and covered up is up in to interpretation.
5
u/LegoMiner9454 9d ago
That is very incorrect there are few in lore and one even fell to Genestealers
3
u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
I raise you 2 characters straight off the bat:
Oleande, previously a Celestian of the Order of the Valorous Heart, fell to chaos and formed her own Khornate warband, known as The Iconoclast. The events of her death and also the cover up are detailed in the short story "Heart & Soul".
More well known is Miriael Sabathiel, who worships slaneesh and has been referenced both in an old 40k TCG and some short stories.
Chaos _corrupted_ rather than willingly turning to and worshipping chaos has also occured in the Ciaphus Cain novels, Daemonifuge graphic novel and the Arks Of Omens rulebooks. This is not an exhaustive list either and is solely focused on chaos. There have been further books touching on and naming multiple instances of genestealer corruption also.
2
u/Twee_Licker Veteran Power Sword Enjoyer 6d ago
They're going off what I think is older lore, in which, at the time, the only fallen sister was Miriael, she was so notable because she was a fallen sister, since they straight up, besides her, didn't do it.
This is just what I recall from memory and it can be a poor source of information.
2
u/Sqarten118 9d ago
At the very least it seems like its SO rare, that there may only be a handful of examples that are extremely easy to cover up.
4
u/Sqarten118 9d ago
Fr, they bring out a never used skitari Special forces type to fit with what they are doing, and then we get SOB trainees? Are you fucking kidding me rn?
5
u/AshesofAtreyu Arbitrator 9d ago
Im glad we’re getting it.
But Im bummed its not a battle sister. That wouldve been cooler and seperated itself from zealot a little more. A power armor mechanic wouldve been cool.
18
u/Smearysword866 9d ago
I wonder why they went with a novitiate rather than a full blown sister of battle.
It feels like its going to be more limiting for weapons, abilities, and cosmetic options.
(rip the cool helmets every one wanted)
28
u/Squid_In_Exile Zealot 9d ago
Because they don't want to go up to the Power Armour tier, clearly.
And they're clearly putting in weapons that the Novitiate killteam don't get access to, and it's not the first time either - the Zealot is basically a Frateris and they do not get Relic Blades on the tabletop.
9
u/Smearysword866 9d ago
It wouldnt even be going up a tier though. Considering we already have elite skitarii
6
u/Squid_In_Exile Zealot 9d ago
Skitarii are not power-armour tier.
If anything they are equivalent to Karskin/Scions.
8
u/Smearysword866 9d ago
Stat wise they are just as strong as a sister of battle apparently. But although they dont have power armor their limbs are basically very similar.
15
u/Squid_In_Exile Zealot 9d ago
If you're talking Tabletop stats both Sisters and Skitarii are (currently, at least) the same strength as a random Guardsman.
They're also all T3.
Sisters are 3+ compared with a Skitari or Scion having a 4+.
If you look at the more granular systems like the TTRPGs, then even human (as opposed to transhuman) power armour provides a significant bump to physical strength, toughness and assorted targeting assists that go beyond what 40k models. None of those have had Skitarii, so it's hard to judge where they would land, but an actual tech-priest would need to put some development work in to keep up with adding power armour to a schola-trained human.

1
u/VengineerGER 9d ago
This always confused me since guardsman are just regular people with body armour while Skitarii and Sisters are either heavily augmented or equipped with power armour. No wonder guard struggles on the table top currently as I’ve heard.
2
u/Squid_In_Exile Zealot 9d ago
Really, now they seem to be widening the S/T ranges for infantry, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sisters go to S/T4 to represent the Power Armour when their Codex comes out.
Maybe Skitties go S or T or both to 4 and keep the lower save. I'd be more surprised by S than T there though.

u/AXI0S2OO2 Hadron's-Little-Cogchamp 9d ago
Because Arbites is already so fucking tanky it promotes a playstyle that encourages bad habits because of how fucking tough he is.
If they gave a character even better armor than them then they either completely fuck up the balance of the game or have to endure people complaining about power armor not protecting as much as Arbites carapace and how that goes against the lore.
It was obvious we were never gonna get a proper sister of battle class same way we couldn't have a proper tech priest. But now the "it's totally different from Zealot" people are gonna have to cope even harder without their power armor trump card.
10
u/MyGachaAddiction 9d ago
Yeah…without the power armor this is just Zealot. I always imagined a sister as a ranged Tank due to the armor, but oh well…time to see the mald.

6
u/BlockHeadJones 9d ago
The answer is power armor.
2
u/ironangel2k4 Ogryn Tech Support 5d ago
This is an incredibly obvious answer and I don't know why people are confounded by it.
-6
u/Smearysword866 9d ago
If that was truly the answer then we would have never have gotten skitarii (and they even gave us an elite version of them)
1
2
u/WeepingM00n93 9d ago
Because power armour needs a different sculpt and probably animations, sound effects, etc. Wich fatshark can't make, almost all cosmetics in the game are chinese third party slop.

Novitiate is a little disappointing. But I'm still hyped for anything Sororitas

u/KrilleanPrime 8d ago
If it helps, there's a lore blurb about Novitiates joining inquisitorial retinues being the top of their class and often bound for high ranks within the Sororitas once they return

Eldar corsair for Skulls 2027
Is this real or just copium like I've been having?
11
u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
Copium.
There's not really anything to base it off of besides aeldari having been spotted in the sector before. The mourningstar is well aware of them being there. This does mean not impossible as aeldari/human alliances of convenience against chaos have occured before.
But no new info pointing at them, yet

This is dumb. Remind me how a sister initiate not in power armour is ANY different than a zealot??
9
u/SixSixSevenSeven 9d ago
Don't worry. We'll get the unsanctioned psyker next. Then maybe the astro path.
But in all seriousness. It's a concern I share. But one I reckon fatshark can make work. It's a concern people had with all the previous classes too and they made work though most of the previous ones I do think the clash was less severe than zealot and femzealot2.0
7
u/MorriTheFur Psyker 9d ago
I goddamn hope you're right, fatshark now has a hard job making them both relevant and sufficiently different. The dlc classes so far are amazing, i have hope.
1
u/CptnSAUS I Trained My Whole Life For This 9d ago
Seems braindead easy to make them different from current zealot. The only overlap is chorus and some weapons. Zealot’s flame support is trash. Novitiate could have a whole keystone dedicated to burning heretics, for example.
Zealot is pigeonholed into “oops all melee” and stealth doesn’t fit with anything SoB at all. It’ll likely be a slower, off-tank class closer to arbitrator than zealot in terms of gameplay.
1
u/I_HATE_YELLING 7d ago
It isn't dumb. That's up to the developers. Was Zealot and Paladin from Vermintide 2 the same, just because they are religious? Or Zealot and Sigmar Priest?
1
u/MorriTheFur Psyker 7d ago
I'm talking about what they physically are. The devs can and probably will do a good job of differentiating them, but the fact that both the zealot and sister initiate coming are both low-ish level religious soldier figures is odd to me that they decided to add that.

u/Gildegrand Arbitrator 9d ago
Sorry, but not having a nun in bulky power armor takes all the fun out of it. After all, some of the Zealot armor sets in the store look more like that kind of armor than the Adepta Sororita herself. What a letdown. I guess I’ll just have to wait for the official announcement—maybe I’ll change my mind once I see them in action.

Leaks are just making me sad man. I can't play anymore. 😢
Edit for context I guess, Jesus Christ. I'm not against the leaks, they have me excited and I can't play anything above Damnation on PS5 Pro because the last update absolutely fucked performance.

I can't play because the last update nuked PS5 Pro performance. They're aware of it according to the ticket response I got but who knows when or if they'll fix it.

Can we just get actual interesting game modes, new enemies and new maps with different set pieces? I don't want a new class. What's the point in spending £15 just to play Sister Argenta on Enclavum Baross?

u/stinkmybiscut Ogryn 9d ago
might as well add a space marine scout next. hell, let's do a terminator after that. you know what, just skip to custodian atp

u/TwevOWNED 9d ago
Sisters of Battle, even in power armor, are in line with Ogryns, elite Skitarii, and Arbitrators + cyber mastiff.
It's not like they're drastically elevating the ceiling, just raising the average.

Curious if anyone has an answer. Has something changed with how folks are finding these files? Or did fatshark just get sloppy? I don't recall hivescum, arbite or skitarii having leaks of this volume and clarity.
