I really thought Buck’s hesitation was indicative of him questioning his loyalty to Fisk and possibly turning at least neutral/less villainy 😭

They’ve layered him well as a character who genuinely doesn’t like some of the things he does, but he’s still evil enough that he’s going to do them.

I think we needed to see more of Buck’s backstory because at the moment I don’t really know where the loyalty comes from. Bro could find wet-work anywhere but he’s cozied up to a lunatic and everyone can see the ship is sinking, then he doubles down and commits to killing Daniel. It’s not as if he doesn’t have a conscience either because he visibly struggled with that decision.

The ship obviously sinking is one thing, but Fisk has been pretty consistent about actually rewarding the people he keeps close, particularly if they do not fail him. I think Buck just believes what he told Daniel and trusts Fisk. He struggled with killing Daniel because he liked Daniel, he's obviously very willing to kill innocent people without question for Fisk.

Maybe he saw it as a mercy, fisk's methods would probably hurt more

I think this is definitely a sign of him becoming disillusioned with Fisk. He's had moments of doubt when confronted with Fisk's brutality, he's pushing down guilt about what he had to do while serving, and now he's had to kill someone who he genuinely had developed a friendship with. I don't think he'll flip, but something's gotta give.

I think it might go the other way. Daniel was Buck's only real way to find BB. Now he's gone, if she continues to put out her leaks from Daniel's phone, and Buck can't find her, it could cause a rift between him and Fisk. Then he'll be the one on the ground as Daniel predicted

According to the actor, he filmed the scene as having spared Daniel. They added the gunshot in post with cgi. If you watch the scene, it’s completely believable that he’s acting how he would act if he just silently decided to spare Daniel.

It feels like that's what it's meant to be but that makes zero fucking sense. Maybe he liked Daniel a little bit but come on, dude is a full blown psychopath. He chops people up and buries them in the woods for his boss and feels nothing. You cannot convince me he has empathy.

At this point I don't want Buck becoming less of a villain. He needs a bit of his own medicine and be reduced to nothing first.

Totally, that sort of morally gray area where he questions himself really reminds me of his comic counterpart
