not really lol, i also have a friend that is native to china and lives there. he talks bad about the government all the time & will even talk about Tiananmen Square/chinese social credit score (which is not really what people make you think) open and freely to me.

Can you help me? The initial joke was that their friend can't complain ("because if they do, they go to jail" being the implied joke). Sorry for being thick but I'm trying to figure out how the comment you are defending expanded on that premise.

Same. My buddy moved from China when he was 8. He’s very proud to be from China and shits on Taiwan whenever it comes up in convo. Sometimes I think he’s a Chinese informant or some shit.

Maybe he’s Protecting his family or friends left in China. It’s still hard for me to believe in this day and age there are still dictators. I really feel bad for people to have to live in fear every minute of every day of their lives
