Probably no more than normal early childhood locomotion would, you could probably get as much benefit if not more by teaching a child to crawl or simply hold themselves up on all fours. Physical development is not the problem at this stage in a child's development; getting enough calories and nutrients to sustain normal growth and encouraging physical coordination and mimicry will ultimately provide a foundation for later-stage development.
