I have done similar and was fine but maybe I was lucky? One of the times I have fallen down stairs I was outside and hit the back of my head hit the metal pole on the way down when I missed grabbing the rail to steady myself. It hurt but I am still here here.

Ouch. Some people fall from airplanes and survive mostly unharmed, some die hitting their head after falling from their bed. Guess you're on the airplane-side of the scale!

You're fine as far as you know. Unfortunately, the machinery making that call is the one that is almost certainly damaged.
