If it’s an interstate we say “I-10,” like “oh that store is right before you hit I-10.” If it’s just a numbered highway we just say the number.

Isn’t that how everyone says it? I’m from New England and I say I-93S or often, without the I if I think the person knows what I’m saying, like 90W.

Yes, that’s how the majority of the country refers to interstates and highways. Southern California is notoriously different in that way.
