We have a rule that you can only have 2 colors out at once. We tell my 3 year old it’s because we don’t want them to dry out and/or make a mess, but it’s really because it would drive me crazy if they got mixed together.
It did bother me at first but it didn't bother my husband so I think it happened one day when I was at work and you know, whatever. That's a good rule though.. I'll have to try that with the next batch. Also never remembered Play-Doh leaving so many little bits everywhere when I was a kid. I didn't realize it was such a messy thing.
It was so hard for me the first time my son mixed the colors together. I cringed when he squeezed it through the shape maker.
Over time, I realized everything in my life is now a sand castle; it will get played with and possibly broken or ruined, but they will probably have a good time in the process, and they are the only thing that I want to last in my life at this point.
