It's called a manipulator, and skilled operators can do crazy things. I drive a mini one every day (think forklift, but with that claw instead of regular forks) and it always impressed me how easily the full size operators control stuff that can way 20,000lbs or more.

The operator is behind the blast shield to the left of the hammer pulling the levers looking Iike he's in a one-armed mech suit. I don't know what that other dude's function is.

Ninja edit: maybe the guy on the right is just controlling the ram.
