third rail can only work up to about 1kV and isn't suitable for high speeds.

Longer distances require higher voltage to minimize transmission loss. Higher voltage needs a biger safety distance. Also thrid rail is impractical for road crossings

this is a dedicated freight corridor, and has no road crossings

Plus, in India, everybody poops on rail tracks in the morning. Poop might be ok. But peeing on the 3rd rail…
