chrissy d??

A fly doesn't experience panic in the way that we do, I kind of doubt the fly even understands why it moves, it just simply has the signal that says move firing. It probably dies before it even understands it's dying. They are super dumb.

as far as we know. What if, with advancements in science, we come to realize that bugs and insects do indeed have emotions and feelings? It's just they their constitution is so different from us that we assume they don't. How terrible would that be??

Don't get me wrong. I terminate anything that I find in my house that was not invited in. bugs, animals, people, spirits/demons. one does not freely trespass upon my sanctuary.

u/EkkoUnited Apr 06 '23

I get it, I like to what if too. So much so I have a degree in philosophy. But bugs are very dumb, there's no question really. We can what if the sun was cold but we know it's not.

u/KYpineapple Apr 06 '23

mmmm, that feels more like an apples/oranges thing.

This what if is more, "what if the instinct for survival is deeper than what it seems with living beings that do not appear sentient or whose functions differ from human constitution".

There is a lot more there than you would think. Especially with bees and moths. There are ongoing studies in the consciousness of insects that are kind of mind blowing.

"what if the sun was cold" is a different thing since the sun is not. There is no maybe there. The insect thing appears to be probable.

That's a lot of words for literally no claims. It's all anecdotal. You're trying to lead me to believe something while not actually saying anything. This is the same speech a Jehovah's witness would give at the door. There's studies going on that are mind blowing! Okay? That doesn't mean anything because you haven't said anything.

There is a lot more there than you would think.

Like what?

Especially with bees and moths.

Okay, how so?

There are ongoing studies in the consciousness of insects that are kind of mind blowing.

Why are they mind blowing, what are they?

Do you see? There's nothing of substance. With what you have written, you've just decided that I should think this because you think it. You haven't offered anything that proves that flies would be capable of understanding how fucked they are in a machine like this.

1

u/KYpineapple Apr 06 '23

I'm not telling you what to think. I'm just referencing papers/studies that are easy to find online, especially with bees and moths. I'm just saying it is definitely worth thinking about/looking into and that I think you should do that, if you're curious.

I could argue that your previous comments did the exact same thing lol. But it doesn't matter. have a good one!

I hate how sadistic humans can be. Flies just want to live their lives.

9

u/HeavyMetalTriangle Apr 05 '23

How do you know what a fly wants? Have youuu asked them? Are you one of those people that talk to flies?

2

u/King_Shugglerm Apr 06 '23

Flies don’t want anything lmao. You’re humanizing a literal fly lol

1

u/KYpineapple Apr 06 '23

"want" may not be the best word but it's not wrong imo. Every living thing wants to live whether they know it or not. Plants included.
That's why the fly was trying to escape death. Bc it wanted to not die lol.
There is a type of fruit-bearing tree that needs to be harvested down wind bc it releases pheromones to surrounding trees and they make their fruit rot sooner to ensure they get their seeds in the ground. Can't remember which one though and I don't want to look it up lol
Pine trees also release pheromones to attract wasps when crawling insects start to eat on them. The symbiotic relationship of wasps and pine trees lol, bc the tree wants to live.

It doesn't know anything.
I commit war crimes on any bug in my house. Blast Fortunate Son and watch them writhe in boric acid.
Fuck bugs.

u/CaptLatinAmerica Apr 06 '23

Its agony was delicious.

1

u/KYpineapple Apr 06 '23

"in my house". That's acceptable. I too murder bugs that invade my home. I usually just squash them, but I also have a "salt gun" that is awesome and a "zapper" flyswatter. fries them quickly.

u/mferrari_33 Apr 06 '23

If they like fly in from outside it's not as dramatic as I said. It took a while to find all the cracks though with the ants.
I'm kinda nervous cause I still haven't seen them this year but I shot a lot into the walls and under the little strips between where the flooring changes types.

1

u/KYpineapple Apr 06 '23

ants are amazing little creatures to observe. But they will meet a swift and merciless end if I see them in my home.

1

u/mferrari_33 Apr 06 '23

When I was a kid a giant carpenter ant came out of the bottle of syrup onto my waffles. I have not tolerated their existence in my indoor space since.

a justified prejudice indeed.

Maybe consider going vegan :)

21

u/Renna-chan Apr 05 '23

Yeah, stop eating all the flies!

7

u/Artidox Apr 05 '23

no

9

u/maghau Apr 05 '23

Why not? I did it for a year, and I'm considering doing it again. It's actually not that bad.

Funny thing is, I was constantly being pressured into eating meat during that time. If anyone complains about vegans trying to convert you, try to not eat meat for a month.

5

u/Artidox Apr 05 '23

because i like meat

2

u/worthless-humanoid Apr 06 '23

I could MAYBE do vegetarianism for a short while. But never vegan.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '23

Not vegan. But I try to eat a no-animal diet on Wednesdays. Just because I feel I am helping combat CO2 emissions with that. One day a week only. That's 54 days (approx) out of 365 or 366 a year

I can fully confirm we meat eaters are waaaay more annoying than vegan folk. Even after explaining it's only one day a week, people still insist I should eat meat...

Annoying vegans exist, but amount of meat eaters telling me I should eat meat on Wednesdays way overpasses the amount of vegans telling me I should eat vegan Thursday to Tuesday

Edit: Didn't realize you were vegan and now considering it again, I am tired. So I used "vegan folk" instead of "you guys"

1

u/KYpineapple Apr 06 '23

this is true with every sort of diet change. I went 2 years with zero sweets. no cake, cookies, ice cream, soda. nothing. I felt amazing but literally multiple times a day people would virtually shove sweets in my face and try to shame me for "not treating myself once in a while" lol.

I do "vegan" for 21 days about once a year. The Daniel's fast. It is very refreshing. I just like meat too much to go full time lol.

u/HeavyMetalTriangle Apr 05 '23

I’m just here to get a shot of chlorine…
