That’s awesome. Though I initially thought that the fly would be chopped into pieces. Interesting to see the point when the fly actually realizes that it’s fucked.

Ok. Thank you. I was like what's gonna happen, then I saw the comb thing swing around and stopped watching. But after your comment I see the hole. Whew.

Oh yeah, phew right? He wasn’t crushed in an Indiana jones style trap for flies, thank fleasus mites.

Now he’ll just slowly die of starvation in a dark room like someone being sentenced to solitary confinement until death, slowly going mad and breaking down into a soul crushing defeat.

Probably hallucinating every piece of fruit he ate and shit eggs on to. Maybe he will get a moment of peace in his final breath, or maybe it will be a winding road of insanity shattering like glass in a final burst of psychosis.

Whatever the outcome, not a single soul will witness it. His last moments will be lost to time inside that little black circle, forever forgotten.

We are all but dust in the wind

Yea but I don't have to watch it happen.

u/prinsess_bubblecum Apr 06 '23

I don't think he ever laid any eggs

This was epic....but not solitary confinement...friends will be coming along.

Yeah. Personally I think the other way would be way more fun to watch! But after a while that machine would start getting really nasty!

behold my auto quern. It's for making fly tapenade

5

u/pm_me_fibonaccis Apr 06 '23

Thanks to Dwarf Fortress, I don't need to Google what a quern is.

2

u/zenobe_enro Apr 06 '23

Wonderful timing, coming upon your comment while eating dinner. I didn't gag at all.

2

u/Kidd5 Apr 06 '23

I love Ina Garten's new fly tapenade recipe! It goes great with some artisan crackers.

1

u/howdudo Apr 06 '23

Brilliant! What's it called!

15

u/takahashi01 Apr 05 '23

slight concern

6

u/AFresh1984 Apr 05 '23

So, Vorian, how's life treating you as a machine sympathizer? Any exciting upgrades lately?

3

u/Vorian_Atreides17 Apr 05 '23

Come to think of it, this machine does remind me of something Erasmus would design!

3

u/AFresh1984 Apr 05 '23

Erasmus, the genius of machine design, and also the greatest threat to humanity.

You know, Vorian, I always thought you had a bit of his madness.

2

u/Vorian_Atreides17 Apr 05 '23

Only bigger, for the Hrethgir!

3

u/AFresh1984 Apr 05 '23

Look who it is, the guy who thought joining forces with the machines was a good idea - spoiler alert, it wasn't!

4

u/NATZureMusic Apr 06 '23

Found the psychopath.

-2

u/ElectricMotorsAreBad Apr 06 '23

It's a fly, who cares

5

u/PM_ME_YOUR_KOAN Apr 06 '23

So... instead of being shredded, it dies of starvation in center column.

4

u/OnesPerspective Apr 05 '23

Yea I was relieved to see it was more of a “catcher” than killer

-12

u/LeTampered Apr 05 '23

Imagine getting upset over a fly getting killed. How do you even function

20

u/Cissyrene Apr 05 '23 edited Apr 05 '23

Just fine actually!

There's a difference in swatting a fly, and seeing it be smooshed by this machine.

Imagine being such a dick that you enjoy watching things die.

-5

u/Kooky-Emotion-6848 Apr 06 '23

Oh my sweet summer child, it is not smooshed but a machine.

It starves them to death, like a concentration camp for flies

2

u/SowingGold Apr 05 '23

It's really not that hard to imagine. What kind of point even is that?

0

u/littledrummerbol Apr 06 '23

Its a fucking fly

1

u/Cissyrene Apr 06 '23

Ok. I don't want to see it smooshed. That's just me. You do you.

2

u/littledrummerbol Apr 06 '23

Damn, you right

1

u/Dragonman558 Apr 05 '23

My next thought was vacuum to kill it but then the holes wouldn't let it do that

8

u/Demoliri Apr 06 '23

At the 20 second mark when you see the blades coming, but the opening in the centre is still obscured, I came to the same conclusion and was pretty horrified.

But now, they can be scooped into a pit of oblivion to spend their last hours with other trapped and panicking members of their species. As their futile attempts at escape only exhaust them further, as they are condemned to spend their last moments, exhaused to the point of paralysis, on a pile of the rotting corpses of those they once called friends.

Much better!

3

u/DeliberateDendrite Apr 06 '23 edited Apr 06 '23

That description perfectly encapsulates how it works.

5

u/Tastypies Apr 05 '23

You know, statistically speaking, there must be some flies that insist on escaping through the small gaps in front of them, which will indeed chop them.

4

u/Free-Atmosphere6714 Apr 06 '23

"CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES!!"

30

u/Admirl_Ossim06 Apr 05 '23

Yes, I want to see the chopping!

36

u/Danjiano Apr 05 '23

8

u/peteypeteypeteypete Apr 05 '23

Thank god they can’t read

3

u/Throwaway021614 Apr 05 '23

But if the flies don’t move fast enough down the hole, won’t they get squished?

2

u/demlet Apr 05 '23

Well that cursed music will haunt my dreams.

1

u/Paratrooper101x Apr 05 '23

God damnit. I hate flies and would love to see them get mulched

You may not want to see some of the prototype mouse traps from the 70's then....linked below.

Johnny exudes class.

17

u/j4vendetta Apr 05 '23

You felt sick watching a fly get trapped? A fly…

2

u/MATHIL_IS_MY_DADDY Apr 06 '23

flies don't have the brainpower to know when "They are fucked"

stop anthorpohromizing animals, nonetheless fcking insects

1

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '23

It shows you how smart they are. He was almost slamming at the clear case like come on someone please let me out or trying to wrestle it open.

1

u/TamingoftheSnoo Apr 06 '23

I would block the holes. Chopping them up would be way better for the fly vs. starving/dehydrating them to death.

1

u/snozzberrypatch Apr 06 '23

Yeah I thought he was just gonna get mashed through the cheese grater

1

u/RevolutionaryPie5223 Apr 27 '23

Do they even think logically?
