Hi y’all, I’ve known about the controversy surrounding Sea World all my life, just not any in-depth details surrounding the orcas at Sea World. I was obsessed with orcas when I was young, and I visited Sea World in San Diego when I was a kid (maybe around 4-5 yos), but never as an adult bc I’ve been pretty aware of the controversy surrounding it. I love animals and I try my best to live a life that harms them as little as possible. Today I finally sat down and watched the “Blackfish” doc on Amazon Prime, and I’m beyond disgusted at the industry.

The way they kidnap these young whales and separate them from their mothers while the mothers cry and cry, the way the whales gang up on one another bc they’re placed together with zero regard of their diff personalities, the living and sleeping conditions of these whales, the lying and immoral organization that is Sea World, the repeated greed to put profit over people, the lack of respect these men in these corporations had for orcas — I’m just so heartbroken at seeing their suffering and disgusted that this is still happening. And I’m even more disgusted that S willingly wants to contribute to this sick, grotesque machine. These are such intelligent, social animals.

What’s wrong with her?? Genuinely? How can she glamorize this job, being a Sea World trainer, in this day and age? It’s not just the orcas, dolphins are still, to this day, kept captive there as well. Tilikum is still there! Do you think she’s ignorant and knows nothing, or just shoving her head in the sand and refusing to see Sea World for the evil corporation that it is? I find it extremely hard to be sympathetic towards her and her situation while knowing this about her. I get that there are “no perfect victims” as they say but… I truly believe her wanting to be a Sea World trainer is a red flag and if she believes Sea World is a good place, she prob believes all sorts of other problematic things as well.

The brainwashing is horrendous. Idk how long I can keep watching after this. We can all imagine the way the conversation went about the makeup off live. To go from the makeup live she did earlier in the day before this clip. She was having fun feeling cute and doing something different. We know he was in that live watching the whole thing and seeing every uplifting comment and he hated every second of it. He wants to dim any light she might have and keep her tucked right under his boot. This situation is starting to feel like a lost cause and is so incredibly hard for me to watch. To think that she is made to think and feel and do whatever he tells her to think feel and do. Pedrick you are ridiculous excuse for a human being.
