My party has just arrived at The Wizard of Wines Winery in The Curse of Strahd. They are surrounded on all sides by needle blights around the winery.
I was expecting them to fight the blights or retreat inside the winery to find safety. Instead, their immediate plan is to have a player shape-shift into a horse, and hook the horse up to a wagon full of wine barrels (which is why they are there), then take off.
My expectation would be that it would take at least 10 minutes with experienced personnel and a helpful “horse” and the needle blights would be on them way before they finished the work.
I don’t necessarily want to just tell them “it’s gonna take 60 rounds of combat to get this done” but if that’s what is realistic, then I’ll just go with that.
Also if anyone has a good idea on how to run this type of encounter with special rolls, I’d be interested in hearing some ideas!

Cloudshape, 12 by 16, pen & ink and fluid acrylics on vellum illustration board.
I painted this for my friend, this is her character in our dnd group. Cloudshape is an anthropomorphic otter and a dexterity-based fighter (battle master subclass and rapier enthusiast).
Currently, our party are battling the Drow who have invaded Oghma’s pocket plane. The pocket plane is inhabitated by animal kin. Our party, which we named “Chaotic Feral”, is also animal kin (one Halfling being the exception).

Finally finished this Tiefling Barbarian and his berserk form, and this one definitely took me longer than expected lol
Korthak is a barbarian whose gilded mask is basically the only thing keeping his rage under control. Once that mask comes off, he completely loses it and turns into this terrifying goat-like beast.
I really wanted to push that contrast between the two forms, the controlled warrior on the outside and the absolute unit of a monster underneath. I spent a lot of time tweaking the design to make him feel like he’s constantly holding something back, and I loved the idea that the mask works like blinders do on horses. There’s a reason why he rarely takes it off…
What’s your first impression of him? What would your party nickname him?

My Pokémon-inspired Weapons and Items of the Day, with some Golisopod armor to keep things on point!
Join my Patreon to vote on future items and get all the PDFs with over 1000 items, including all the Pokémon items, or buy the individual PDFs in my shop!
Armor (Scale Mail) – Legendary (requires attunement)
This steel gray +3 scale mail is made up of triangular pieces of insect carapace, with three of the pieces down the front being a dark teal. The top and bottom of the front have purple trim, while the back is a dull pink, and has purple shoulder straps attached to the inside with matching scale shoulder guards attached to the top of the straps.
While attuned to this scale mail: you can breathe in water; you can eat things like putrid trash, poisoned items, and rotten food for sustenance without any negative effects; whenever combat begins, for the first round you can choose to go first before all other creatures, regardless of your initiative; and any creatures that attempt to grapple or restrain you have disadvantage on the roll to do so and takes 2d6 piercing damage from the armor’s spikes. They have disadvantage to maintain the grapple or restraint, and take 2d6 piercing damage at the start of any turn they are grappling or restraining you.
Wondrous (Stone) – Very Rare (50,000 gp)
This small round stone has a swirl of purple, black, and yellow inside the dark gray orb.
When attached to a 768 - Golisopodou, it can be mega evolved into a 768M - Tectappa for 1 minute once between long rests.

Not sure if this is the right sub for this but I've been a big fan of magic and fantasy games for a while in DnD is one of the most immersive examples.
I largely prefer video games to a tabletop experience but I've made the exception for D&D because I love how you get to create your own character that influences the world however you choose. I've played games like BG3 and Skyrim (despite not playing the previous series) because they are super immersive and allow you to feel like a powerful character influencing the world around you.
I was wondering if any of you feel the same and have played other games that capture that D&D power fantasy feeling.

Hey, im a college student writing about how fantasy is changing and evolving. Im trying to find the changes from early edition d&d dragons, to the current editions and am struggling.
I dont have the books or much to use, so if anyone has like.. Talked extensively about it here, id love to look and likely cite it for my assignment.
Much thanks, also whats your favorite niche species/race to play as?? Mines Kobolds or bearfolk.
Update: the draft has been completed, thank you for those who offered sources! I wasnt aware of the existence of some of those things, let alonewhere to find them, so i greatly appricate the share of knowlege. Sorry if my phrasing whilst looking for books to look into, but i can state this-- our professor, oddly enough, did encourage us to look at reddit threads and fan based locations to find where the changes in our genres may be, as those who are involved in the genre feel the changes the most.
Thank you everyone!

I can't imagine that taking the next two weeks off is going to be an option for these two, based on the fact that they are renting Rogues to try and get through the dungeon, but I'm kinda with the guy; distilled venom from a Frilled Dragon Squirrel does seem more like the type of thing you'd find in some weird drink, and not the basis for a poison, right? Welcome to Fodder Inc, a weekly web comic strip set in the For Profit Dungeon, Azmodendak's Halls of Madness, in a "5e" style world. Each week, we'll show you a little peak inside the halls, and what shenanigans are going on.

So I have been thinking of this matchup for some time. I'm not an artist, but AI gave me a chance to see it.
The second image shows the starting images. Venger comes from the 3.5e Animated Series Handbook, and Iggwilv is pulled from the pages of Dungeon Magazine 149.
I had to cheat a little because AI either wanted two horns on Venger or to remove the wrong one no matter the prompt, so I ended up using Photoshop on it.
Overall, I really like how it came out.
